People are saying that this is one of the reasons that Kratos’ character was ruined. To me, this is one of the best developments of a person who is finally able to open up and be a much wiser version of himself. Well made and written.

And the development on his character it’s so palpable yet so well done even during the first game, where he just did the sub quests excusing himself as only wanting the resources people gave him vs Ragnarok where he is perfectly willing to help creatures and people just so he could expend more time with Atreus before anything more crazy happens.

Cause a lot of people are simple minded and prefer the “loud, punch everything while screaming because it’s cool” character rather than one with an actual personality and growth. Kratos in these past two games has been amazing.

I really don’t get how people can even say that, why would you prefer some mindless killing machine (who is albeit a badass) over someone with legitimate character, while still being cool asf? 2018 and Ragnarok both gave Kratos so much more depth and personality. Love it.

Such an amazing change in character for kratos, Even noticeable in his design changes, Look at his eyes, They seem more, Brighter and wider, He has changed from always saying "It is not your concern" to being more open and willing to tell his friends around him what happened or what's wrong, Even sharing these moments of humor and light-hearted times, He has changed so much and it's for the better, Even in the last game where mimir said "You should take it boy" "Yes boy take it, We may need to butter bread on our journey" Even with that it shows he started changing in that game and now this, He shows that he is a lot closer with his son, And calls him by his name rather than boy, And him and mimir acting like brothers, I've seen some dialogue between them and they roast each other, One time in vanaheim mimir said "Big footprint" Kratos "Smartest. Man. Alive." "You try having conversation with you sometimes" And it's hilarious, We even see later on in the game where kratos visibly smiles! And in the first like 17 minutes he says he will go get the deer and atreus already has it, He walks a bit, Turns around and smirks a little, Such an amazing way they wrote his character, He changed from this stoic, Quiet, non smiling guy to this, That is why this game is my pick for game of the year LET'S FREAKING GO RAGNARÖK!!!!!!

You wanna know what I realize? Eric Williams confirmed Mimir and Brok are by far the closest Kratos has besides Atreus. Someone he could trust and be open with. I also realize the two are bald. Bald bros forever.

Because i assume Faye was kind of a bridge between Kratos and Atreus, and now that she's been gone for a while Kratos has had to adjust and learn to communicate with his son more. There's still a ways to go, but you can at least see that he's getting there.

"The Blue ones brother"...I can't help but feel like out of everyone Kratos meet in God Of War(2018), Sindri is the only one he doesn't fully trust or respect. Too shady, secretive, two-faced & quite frankly...obnoxious. This is only further fueled when he discovers that Sindri "aided my son in disobeying me". Kratos doesn't like fake...which is exactly why he prefers Brok.

I really loves Kratos and Mimir interaction. Kratos DO appreciate good advice for someone who actually know what theyre doing. And Mimir is smart enough to know how to shut the fuck up and only open his mouth to gives kratos advice.

Kratos appreciates his intelligence and memory. And even if he won’t admit it, the distraction and emotional brevity that he lacks, especially in dealing with Atreus. Kratos is perfectly capable of being empathetic and emotional, but he’s humourless and not prone to explaining himself, Mimir helps balance out his stoicism when it comes to interaction.

The only other time he laughs from what I've seen is when Kratos talks to Angrboda in Jotunheim she says Atreus has skill with drawing but needs discipline to bring it out, which he chuckles and says 'I like you'.

I love the evolution of kratos’ relationship with mimir, before it was “shut up head” now kratos calls him brother it feels like how he would of talked to Deimos if he were still alive and it feels good and weird to see kratos who is extremely defensive and slow to trust to let someone in his little bubble.

2:24 that delivery on "Ya wee fuck!" Is perfection, I've replayed it 15 times.

This is what makes a good voice actor, when your tone can express more than what you say. After Freya explains how magic is bound to the land, both Mimir's comment and Kratos's interjection express dissapointment.

He says enough to mean it, it wasn’t just a one time thing and considering that Kratos has had a lot of siblings and yet only ever called Deimos and Hercules brother, him referring to Mimir as such says a lot about his respect for the talking head and how strong their bond has grown.

When I'm old, I want to be like Mimir. Clever, funny, happy-go-lucky, curious, empathic and not taking myself too seriously, even when I'm a decapitated head dangling from someone's belt.

Orkos and Pandora are the only 2 people related to the Gods who actually wanted to help him in the older GOW games.

Peak character development right there, love to see it.

The parts of the story where Mimir is absent really hits hard realizing his voice is nowhere to be heard and that short time I totally miss the banter and insight Mimir provides, he's like the cool funny uncle in the patchwork family in this game and despite not having a body anymore he has a lot of life left in him😁

So the land mass is not necessarily destroyed, but killing gods who govern aspects of the land + killing gaia who was mother earth herself "destroyed" the land

@@DiscusvissenRocken that's actually such an interesting scenario, because the gods of Rome are basically a reiteration of the Greek gods. We know at the end of GoW 3 Kratos sacrificed himself to give humanity the power of hope so they could rebuild. Problem was, Greece was straight up an apocalyptic wasteland by the time Kratos left, and all infrastructure was gone. So what if, instead of rebuilding the land, the survivors sailed to Italy and eventually established Rome, and giving it the only belief system they knew of, thus empowering what little essence of the Greek gods there was left with their own belief and that of their descendants? What if that eventually was enough to bring back Olympus, but one without the memories of Kratos utterly wiping it out. What if the GoW Greek gods are still out there, just as their roman form?

I love that in Ragnarok he is regularly seeking Mimir’s council, and respects when Mimir disagrees. I think Ragnarok has seen Kratos at his most mature, as much as I love the young angry god slayer I love the wisened older god of war even more.

Being with Mimir for 3 years Kratos has accepted his friendship and so has Mimir. (Yes thier was a 3 year time skip between games.) I luv how it shows they have become close friends over the past 3 years. They obviously have trust between each other now. Before Kratos kept calling him Head but now he calls Mimir by his name. It shows how much they have grown over time and I luv that.

This is brilliant man ❤

*If you read the journal* Kratos secretly writes that Mimir is the closest thing he has to be worthy of calling a friend or “brother”

I love the kelpie scene! The animations, slow mo, and sound are all references to the exact scene they were just talking about!

I remember wondering in the first game if they were just going to return Mimir’s head to the mountains after the quest was over. I’m happy he became like family to them in the end.

Kratos chuckling at the laird's tale was very much in character for him. It was a story of one man's resolve and the weakness of another.

The friendship between these two is the best thing to come out of these games.

That's what Kratos deserves. Friends, family, a home and finally being worshiped like the god he is. It's so nice to see him along with the other characters after more than three games where he lived a life of killing, necessarily and unnecessarily.

Mimir is that one wise, smart, funny and favorite uncle we have in every reunion. 😂

Mimir is my favorite in this part of God of war. Seriously he is not only funny as hell, but incredibly wise and voice of reason. Glad he is a true and trusting friend for kratos. Possibly one of the few in his life. And a God that doesn't betray or use him.

First time I heard Mimir call kratos name because he always call him brother

After you kill the last Berserker, they have a great couple lines. Almost brought a tear to my eye ooo

I kinda like the subtlety of the candles each represents a friend/ family member.

I like that when Fenrir dies, Mimir just accepts that Kratos is not gonna talk about it, even tho it is clear as day, that it affected Kratos as well, and Mimir's just like "alright, good night then"

I like how in the opening scene the one candle that Kratos puts out holds like 95% of the light in the room.

Mimir is definitely the best 2nd dad to atreus 👌

Man I just went through both games in about a months time. Brok and Sindri have the best arc I've ever seen in a video game. I know this is a video on Kratos' and Mimi. But seeing how Sindri changes over the course of the games is so cool
