Minor correction on “Mary Sue”. The original Mary Sue was not a train wreck in that it was bad writing. It was pure, insanely short, satire of very similar characters that were written in earnest by fans at the time. The name just stuck because, as a satire, she was the ultimate example of that kind of bad character.
