    The older I get, the more I realize that amateur golf is the truest most pure form of the sport. I’ve really had enough of the professional game post tiger woods. It’s all about money. “Just throw money at what ever problem and it’ll be alright”. It’s truly disgusting. Also, no government of a country should own a professional sport. Especially an autocratic one. One thing is certain, the lower tier players have been given the shaft ever since this liv nonsense began. Once the pga tour starting talking about no-cut events, I knew that they only cared about the top few players and the rest get screwed. RIP Bobby Jones

    All I know is Monahan came out with a war strategy with LIV in the beginning which was unnecessary and stupid . He has caused so much damage he has to go . The number of problems Monahan has left after this battle is hard to comprehend and wrap your head around . The players need to give a no vote of confidence to Monahan and figure out who and how this mess is going to be straightened out .

    You guys did nail it! All was handled foolishly by Monahan and the powers behind the curtain. Having been in golf my whole life i can’t believe that I stopped watch PGA Tour events. Kostis and McCord explained why because it became so boring. I really like watching LIV because it seems to be so much more relaxed with fans and players having fun. I hope the Saudi’s do take over because a benevolent dictator can always do better than group with different thoughts and agendas. Remember that a mule is a horse designed by committee.

    As a Canadian I think the last 2 years of opens were/are great for Canadian golf. Our national open will forever be tied to the biggest golf story in memory. Far from overshadowing it , I think it brings much more focus to it, and thank the stars for Rory McIlroy for returning every year to defend. I saw Arnold and Jack play the Canadian Open in the mid 70's as a 15 year old kid and attended last year's open at 63 to watch Rory & J.T. & Corey Conners, with 3 Canadians in the following group...it couldn't get much better for me. I really miss both Gary and Peter on the broadcasts, you guys were great, glad we can at least see you on this format now. Reply

Gary, your humour on commentary is legendary and to both Peter (your technical info is always so clear that it helps us amateurs) and Roger (who I think provides the best on course commentary) Would it be something you all might consider ??? (though maybe not with the current PGA leadership and broadcast team)

    Amazing that people can think that business, golf, or sports can be separated from morality and ethics. This is how immoral & malevolent institutions survive and thrive -- ordinary people look away and pretend everything is OK. I'm sure Gary and Peter remember the battles in 50s - 90s on country club membership policies -- no non-whites, no Jews, no Catholics. Even Augusta National Club faced this and -- at long last -- adjusted their policy. The defenders of the old system argued that morality shouldn't be allowed into the rules and policies of private social clubs. Hannah Arendt's book on Adolph Eichmann had a subtitle that introduced the phrase "the banality of evil". In part the phrase refers to Eichmann's deportment at the trial as the man displayed neither guilt for his actions nor hatred for those trying him, claiming he bore no responsibility because he was simply "doing his job" ("He did his ‘duty'...; he not only obeyed 'orders', he also obeyed the 'law'."p. 135). Also, the PGA executives and promoters that feigned moral outrage and used it to manipulate other people (mostly players) should be ashamed and should not be trusted. This new deal proves that their "morality" is for sale for the right price, regardless of the consequences or the example that it sets.

    Great podcast no substitute for expertise and experience. They are a great duo. Only just discovered this channel . 100% they should merge. Let all LIV golfers back but get rid of 54 hole , shot gun, team format. Get back to 72 hole strokeplay. Placate the Grayson Murray’s if this world with money so the LIV golfers aren’t treated like lepers. Have PGA/PIF tour 40 weeks of the year and make the players sign up to minimum 12 events a year. The top players tend to play between 20 and 30 events anyway. Get rid of these designated events. Normal event should have between 120&156 players cut after 36 holes. Keep Sentry and East Lake but rest should be full field events.

    This is an article from Tom Anderson April 2022 titled ‘The PGA’s China Problem’….PGA Tour China is one of several developmental circuits sponsored by The PGA. The PGA Tour appears unfazed by China’s appalling human rights record, which currently includes accusations of brutal persecution of its Uyghur Muslim population. The PGA Tour’s failure to file a 990 form disclosing its financial dealings with Chinese private equity firm Yao Capital As a tax-exempt organization, the PGA Tour is required to disclose such business dealings in China. It seems a clear case of the PGA Tour trying to have it both ways: gaining entry into the lucrative and largely untapped Chinese golf market, while flying under the radar of U.S. regulators and the IRS

    How about all the top players who didn't take the money? How are they feeling now? The players got a taste of reality, when it comes to believing management. Player run .... now that is funny. Other then if your a member of a TEAM, Who cares week by week about team play. This is not basketball, baseball or football. Could this all be about gambling? Are they trying to turn golf into a major betting sport?

    Rumour has it that a recent #1 player and multiple major winner was looking to make the jump. This would not look well for the PGA and assoc. tours. Plus money talks, lol. I like anything that makes Chamblee mad, lmfao. Supposedly the PIF tried to get involved with the golf tours years ago but were stymied. Hence LIV.

    So professional golf was/is in a complete contentious mess. And a few sane individuals came together and decided to resolve everything. This apparently is not acceptable to McCord. He wanted the whole PGAT boardroom involved in the discussions. Does this man know how big business is done? We are talking about maybe four key people that made this happen. This is three separate organizations [PGAT, DPWT, and LIV Golf] that will be financially managed by PIF. Really not hard to understand.

Something smells really fishy about that doesn't it. Maybe, Rory knew more than he lead on or the phone call Rory got from Jimmy Dunne promised him a boat load of money! Just saying!

    First and foremost, players like Phil felt slighted that they didn't own themselves, which they should feel that way. The tour wanted it all. All Monoman needed to do was sit down with the players and hack out a deal that everyone could live with instead of being the dicktater and telling Phil and the others to go f*** themselves.

  • @DickNasty480
    @DickNasty480 Жыл бұрын

    The genesis of "what changed" is that corporate title sponsors were pulling out and or balking having to pay these higher purses for these elevated events since some of the best players were on LIV, they were not getting an acceptable return on the money they were putting up. The PGA Tour had to put the money up for these higher purses and they are not flush with unlimited funds- THAT is the first domino to fall. Honda- a title sponsor in South Florida for 4 decades STOPPED sponsoring that event after this year. That should alarm everyone and they are a global company. Also, some events were getting squeezed with a lack of top 50 players- look at the Canadian Open this week, besides Rory McIlroy- no top players are even in the event- a very weak field since they moved to the week before the US Open. The answer is to always follow the money and PIF are going to inject tens of billions of dollars over the next few years into professional golf- very similar to how they have done with Formula 1 racing. You can moralize all you want but PIF is buying a seat at the table of professional golf, we will see how it all turns out but the players will be playing for more money, fields will be stronger. Newer, younger players who are on the fringe of having tour status or limited status are going to get squeezed out of some events- they will be back on the Korn Ferry Tour, but those purses will be going up considerably as well. Most all companies/industries and even countries do business' with the Saudis- you can throw a pizzy fit but this going to happen whether you like it or not.
