    Thank you for actually doing a tutorial. All of the other videos by the usual suspects are horrible. They just talk features and start pressing buttons making it impossible to follow what exactly they are trying to accomplish. I hate these "influencers" who are nothing buy gear peddlers.

    Well the thing is, if you’ve worked with any of the similar devices that came out before by all other hardware brands, they all work pretty much the same. So if you sit down and learn one, it’s a transferable skill to another device. If it’s your first ever device, I would suggest creating a cram sheet and then update it as you go. The only way to learn in this case is to put the time in by using it, set out to try different things, and find out what works, doesn’t work, and the rewatch other tutorials and reviews. Eventually you’ll know everything there is to know about the device.

    I dunno why they are still blowing out at this price, a steal haha. I'm guessing it's got the old firmware and there are too many reviews trashing em? Tragic for Korg, great for customers, got one on order now for the same deal.

    I've watched a ton of videos on the SQ-64. This is far better than any of them. Well done. Would love to see an updated video with the new FW and that goes more into Midi messages (CC / PC). I'm really hoping I can find some way to send Midi modulation messages on the CV intended half (8) of the 1x16 sub-tracks on the D-track. Trying to find a workaround for what seems like a limitation of the A-C poly tracks only sending 1 modulation channel (for Midi CC/PM) which includes velocity, i.e. no velocity if you send a different Midi CC. This hardware seems more than capable of more Midi CCs than 1 per polytrack.

    How accurate is it when running multiple instruments that are being tweaked during playback and or playing additional tracks? Is it as accurate as say a very accurate clock like the ERM? 👽

    Being a newbie to synths could you tell me how to change midi channels for the b and c channels on the sq-64. The Global menu is quite extensive and not sure how to change the basic midi number. I’ve got an NTS-1 connected to channel A which works fine but get no sound when playing through the b snd c channels. Thanks.

    Nice video! Thanks! Working with notes longer than one step is pretty annoying. I really hope they improve it at some point although it toke them 6 months to deploy .01 update so at this rate we might ha a first real upgrade in years. It could easily be simple best sequencer with just some small upgrades.

    Thanks for creating this very interesting in depth video! Do you know if it's possible to connect a Korg MIDI-controller, like for example the Korg Nanokontrol 2, to the SQ-64 to record parameters such as filter or volume?

    Did you check the MIDI implementation pdf for the device? What’s the typical CC numbers for volume and filter? Those are for synths and this is a sequencer.

    Can you sequence unquantized performances? What's the note resolution on this thing? Does it do microsteps?

  • @ambidex

    @ambidex

    Yes, you can do microsteps to get a ratchet, etc. And I'm fairly sure you can disable quantizing. The most recent update allows more quantizing options as well.

    Really interested in one of these. With a keyboard plugged in, would I be able to play arpeggios into the sequencer. I’ve got a Keystep so could play chords in and arpeggio, that be cool if the sq64 recognises that.

    I have some problems with this sequencer - mainly the note overdub while recoording. Its just do not work as i imagine it shuld. Deleteing stepst in a channel deletes also all parameters (it is a pain). I canot set midi thru for external keyboard, it do not work. There is some strange sequencing issues, probably its just some edit that i miss... and that is my point. There is no, in depth, tutorial for this device. There is one firmware update that i miss... maybe that will make a diference. Over all it has great potential but something is missing... my experience or a solid firmware update.

    Its a shame you stopped short of showing how to add a name to a pattern. I went through the lengthy process of dialling in the the text several times but if I tried to do anything else it cancelled the operation wiping the text from the screen and defaulting back to pattern innit. There doesn't seem to be a save button for this operation and the manual is extremely scant for such a complex machine. This machine is hard work!!! Solved: After dialling in the name the only option you get after that is copy. This would have been less confusing if it asked you if you wish to save your user name. If you then press the button of the current active pattern it writes the user name to that pattern. (Or any other pattern step selected). A bit daft!

    I wish Korg would provide an app for Android and iOS because it is hard to keep track even on the most basic settings. An editor like Modal did for Skulpt would be great additional feature and ease our pain.

  • @ambidex

    @ambidex

    @@dynho_b Now that an editor is out and can be analyzed I wonder if a 3rd party would develop this. It would be so useful to help keep track or do some editing. Although, given the necessity for a Korg driver to use the editor it indicates that native Android/iOS support is unlikely.

    @@MrMarcLaflamme completely agree. Between my noodlebox, tracker, iPad, 0-ctrl, and BSP I have enough headaches to work through. The CV.OCD dropped me down to just the tracker for main sequencing and the noodlebox and 0-ctrl take the brunt of added modulation.
