It fixes a lot of things Release notes - Add drum pad mode to D-Track. - Add quantize setting to real time REC Mode. - Add Step Rec Mode - Fix LED brightness to increase the 64 PAD visibility - Add LATCH function to SHIFT - Add Step Copy function. - Improved Step Edit behavior(Supports new addition and deletion of note) - Change LOOP Mode behabior (The LOOP will not release when moving to another mode from LOOP Mode.) - Add other minor funcitons. - Fixed other minor bugs

The best, in my opinion, in firmware 2.2 is the loop mode that is now free. Sequences looped as u like run in the back so u can edit notes, gates... great! Wuld be great to se some video tutorial on this and other new fetures.

I never thought of sequencing an iPad synth app from a physical sequencer like this. Would love to see more info with just a sequencer and an iPad.

I use that as a simple take anywhere rig. Its awesome. Korg products obviously sync up nicely. If you have Gadget, that opens up quite nicely. Just change the midi channels on each track, and you have an automatic pocket symphony loop. I cant do the same yet with nanostudio, but the option is there, i just think im doing something wrong. I dont think theres a lot of videos about it because its mostly so simple. Just make sure to correspond your midi channels to what synths you want to use and on what tracks. And plug in your usb chord.

Glad you could get it to work... I couldn't get my head around it at all. Ended up selling it. It would have been a fantastic bit of kit for me as well...

A pitty this video wasn't done a couple of weeks later as Korg have now released a new firmware update adding several requested features and bug fixes. Still a good video of course!

I thought the same thing about the SQ-1 until I saw how Monotrail Tech Talk was using it.. I also have 3 keystep pro's and 2 beatstep pro's.. I am getting the SQ-64 now because the price has dropped again..

Excellent video. I have a newbie question. How do you change the midi channel numbers for tracks A thru C ? The Global settings are quite daunting in the manual.

After I record a drum track on channel d of korg sq-64 when i switch to channel a to jam along, the synth sound is not heard. I only get both channels when in active record mode which doesn’t allow me to create a part ahead of time.

I still can't figure out how to save more than one sequence as in "songs" Are they called "projects" or "patterns"? How do I save Beat 1and then Beat 2 and Beat 3 and so on?

Serious question is it fully functioning? Seen lots of complaints about not keeping tempo correctly and not taking clock signals properly.and the lack of update. Reverb and korg warehouse USA didn’t let anyone know opsix was discontinued. And again no one is saying if this is a sale or a sell off of abandoned flawed hardware. I just made an order assuming korg will at least do a update and correct some issues even if this is discontinued.

Hello, I have bought one but I am also in big troubles with MIDI out to external equipment: with a Trs tipe a adaptor the procedure should be straightforward but in my case it isn’t. The setup has been done putting on ON every port (MIDI, USB ), the tracks are unmuted but still no MIDI out from the decice.What the hell could be ? I am pissed off and I am going to sell it if I will not solve this issue.

What about tempo and synching issues and lack of updates?

I got the SQ-64 shortly after release, and I've been really let down by it because its UX is so horrible for melodies and basses. The drums sequencing and fills are really cool indeed, but the musical side of it is such bad UX. All of which was pointed out by Loopop in his video early on, and lots could have been fixed with firmware but never was. It is between 4:25 and 4:26 that you cut out about a minute of fiddling with the encoders because that's how long it takes to enter even five notes. Entering things like holds is even (much) more annoying. The fill you mention still takes the pitch of the entered notes, so it won't help to fill sparse melodies unless you also enter pitches for the steps without gate (or you really like the default pitch C4). I never use the keyboard mode either because it _is_ hard to use, but it's the only way to enter chords indeed. I guess why you're not showing the arpeggiation is because it only arpeggiates within a step, which is completely unuseable. I've also experienced a few sync bugs etc. over the last years, which has been really annoying at times too. Buyer beware. I think the current sale is a clearout one. (My newest two videos are with the SQ-64, so it's not impossible to use - just annoying, working around the bugs and taking more time than should be needed to set up sequences.)

I confirm your feelings! You should try the Launchpad Pro mk3 if your want a cheap 4 tracks sequencer with an excellent workflow! I use it now everywhere, from sequencing to controlling external synths with custom CC sliders. CV out is missing from the Launchpad but MIDI to CV boxes are cheap now.

Snagged an SQ-64 for $129 in Dec. 2022.

Korg has to fix the SQ64 USB ext Midi rec, not working. Sonoma unsupported. Ext clock display fixed at own internal. No Mod options for CCs - well linear in theory is one - and only one per track/sub-tracks. The SQ64 Modulations needs to cover Midiloop ext rec fixed. Bastl Midiloop, Midiphy Loopa V4, Squarp Pyramid, Hermod+, Novation Beatstep. All of them has ext midi rec, with multiple modulations options such as ENV syncing, LFO mixing, and limitless for CCs and Korg can not make a single update to address this issue, nor ANYONE single VIDEO showing it is possible. Whilst ALL of the above, has videos showing how easy it is. From a DAW - Win 10 bc Mac M2 has Sonoma... and drivers are KAPUTT.. one needs to choose SQ64-SEQ over SQ64 Midi in, Usb ext clock, Midi notes are passed through, but nothing get recorded... Where are you Korg devs??? Please!!! Before we start mass replacing it with smth that works... fix it!!! Btw, tnx for Sync divisions, it works BEAUTIFULLY! Arturia keystep pro s the better option. If you want more portability, the beatstep pro is still a better option. The UX is terrible and korg has totally forgotten about their customers regarding firmware updates. The logue platform has been completely abandoned for nts-1, minilogue and prologue.

The NTS-1, Minilogue XD, and Prologue ARE the logue platform.

No reason for just 4 tracks, page modes... Korg just imposing limitations because that's their business model. Always has been, always will be.

Such an incredibly flawed piece of gear. Could be incredible with some updates. I still like mine, I just love sequencers and have so many lol.
