Hello my friend, Thank for this new demonstration. I think you could have demonstrated the mix between linear recording and loop sequences, thing that could have helped your flow in this video. But as the last time, I do agree with you about the capacities of the MPC/one when it is used with any sound generator and how easy is to sequence with it. One of the many advantages that can provide the recording tracks from one midi channel is the use of separate effects for every tracks!!! For the rest, I am waiting for the next demonstration!!! Have a nice day,

@@mateythegreat1399 The Kronos is the most powerful workstation on the market objectively speaking. But in my real world situations "power" is not always what I need. For example layering four sounds with their insert effects on Kronos takes longer than on a Montage. Running into an issue and flipping through a manual that is 1170 pages can stop an entire inspirational flow. There is no piano roll in the sequencer. So if I create a drum track and later feel the snare is too loud in the mix I have to manually adjust each snare hit one by one. Two hits a measure, 150 measures...you can see where I am going. It may take me 30 minutes to do something that will take me 30 seconds on an MPC One or in a DAW like Ableton. The filing system for samples, sounds etc is hard to navigate. Yes the sounds are very nice, but I think VSTs in general have surpassed hardware as far as sound quality. When I use hardware it is so my creativity can flow. Hard for me to be creative with a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. But when hardware stifles creativity it defeats my purpose for using it. If I absolutely need "power" and a whole host of features, I normally reach for software. If I need stability and creativity (like songwriting) then hardware is my go to.

YES! Thank you, there are musicians out here who compose music with MIDI sequencers that are not EDM genre. I was extremely frustrated with todays hardware sequencers, I finally found my sequencer hiding in certain arranger keyboards. Korg PA700 being the most powerful sequencer in the world....for musicians....not tweakers. For those of us who are musicians we don't want a sequencer with steps, hard quantize, limited to short phrases, or full of useless crap that get in the way. That uses crap is all those features for tweakers who are not keyboard masters. Currently I am using a Casio MZx500 arranger as my sequencer, up to 32 measure loops, up to 32 measure linear, 8 tracks of instruments....then the most powerful feature of all....when I play a chord the entire 8 tracks will change pitch to the chord. Since arrangers are not EDM biased, I have all the time signatures like 5/4s, 7/8s 9/4s. My Casio does not have the quantize levels of intensity though, the Korg PA700 does, I have a choice of zero to 1/64 quantize. I can use internal sounds of the Casio or MIDI out to outboard gear. I use the Casio as my master clock and MIDI out to a 1010Music Black Box sampler, and a Korg Electribe2, and a Casio synth. So I have 4 sequencers running at the same time where I can add and subtract 1 to 40 tracks during the performance. I will be selling my Casio as soon as possible to buy the Korg PA700, the ultimate pattern sequencer for the musician. Yes you can use your computers for MIDI recording, but it is not interactive like the arrangers sequencers are. All other sequencer limit you to hard unchanging sequences, once recorded cannot be changed on the fly, all you can do is mute a track and start another.

I have both Kronos and MPC one. I’ve been trying to get recording working for a couple of weeks, but getting frustrated. For awhile I was running my Korg through usb mixer and running usb from mixer to MPC. I was doing audio files because I didn’t think MPC would record actual Korg sounds if I did MIDI tracks. That was working except click track was being recorded and I couldn’t figure how to remove it. You record with midi, so I’m trying that running usb (B) from Kronos to MPC (usb A). I can see that the MPC is getting signal, but I can’t hear anything through headphones or speaker. I don’t think it’s recording but don’t know for sure. Should Audio Device settings be set to Korg? - I get error message that says “error 44100 may not be a supported-sample rate on the external device.” Kronos does appear in MIDI/SYNC settings. Also on home page it says “Program channel not available for Midi programs.” I have songs I’ve written and want to get them down. Tearing my hair out and hoping someone can help. :(

I understand what you mean. Playing really short pieces when recording in a traditional linear style is actually hard for me lol! I'm actually singing a song in my head while playing. Stoping in an awkward spot throws my whole flow off. Remember I am condensing an 8 hour process into a video 1/16th of the time. Another thing to keep in mind is the KZread algorithm. It rewards watch time. My shorter videos get far less watch time and thus KZread does not promote them which means ultimately they are not watched by anyone. If you look at my last 15 videos or so. The longer they are, the more views they have. Luckily you can always scroll ahead. I'm working on creating concise, informative, well thought out content that also triggers the KZread algorithm as well. It's actually very hard to do lol! Thank you for the feedback. I really do appreciate it.

The MC-707 is not even in the race. No grid view, no count-in, no undo button, 8 MIDI tracks vs 128. It's a great little machine but it is a true "groovebox." It is far from a "DAW in a box."

also when connecting the Mpc 1 and the Korg Kronos when i eventually get the two , how could I or would I get sound from both instruments and would either one over power the other one ? ex Korg Kronos going into a keyboard amp or headphones and the volumes at 50% and I then hook up the mpc1 to the Kronos would that be able to use the sounds it has on it ? would the two sounds require two separate channels or could I just plug it into the Kronos have the Kronos hooked up to an amp (keyboard) then start playing the separate drums from the mpc1 and have the sound from there be produced into the amp without having a mixer or having to buy a separate amp? hope this makes sense I just want to get everything down to the T considering I have none of these things yet but when I do I want to be able to have it quick and simple--plug and play.

Yes you can use sounds from both instruments at once. I would however plug them both into a mixer with their own channels so that you have greater control over their volumes. I'd avoid a "keyboard amp" because normally a powered PA speaker along with a small mixer sound much better and costs the same or less than an amplifier. Finally the Kronos does have audio input jacks so if you wanted to you could plug your MPC One directly into the Kronos and come directly out of the Kronos into your amplification system but that is a much more complicated way to work in my opinion. Hope this helps!

Let's say you get interrupted by life in the middle of your session. So you have to turn everything off. How fast is it to get back on? Does the mpc one help recall the programs (patches) on the korg? I'm looking into a fantom 08 because it looks so easy to use, but part of me thinks maybe a setup like this would be better. I need a good 88 key controller bit id rather get a workstation. I can get a kronos x 88 and an mpc one for the price of a new fantom 08. On the fantom 08 side, it has the roland sounds which I have none of; my romplers are korg m3 and motif xs. The keybed is nice and close enough to the roland pha50 that I'm used to. On the other hand, the korg kronos sounds like a monster, specially for pianos and I can get one for $1500 in mint condition. I've never tried the korg 88 keybed, but I doubt it's terrible. I don't know how much the kronos will overlap with the m3, so there's that too. But I figure at $1500 it is a great deal to upgrade my m3. As much as I want a fantom, I might get the kronos x 88. I feel like it has more to offer.

How do you use your keyboards? Would you rather have a linear sequencer or a pattern sequencer?

Great video! I’m having the same dilemma you’re talking about. I’m using a Roland FA to sequence my live setup (sometimes Cubasis, but I don’t trust the stability 100% for a live show). You talked about the MPC playing sequences, one after another, as in a live situation. I really want to get a Kronos, and use that as my main sequencer, mainly to keep my stage area clean. But you’ve almost convinced me to go the MPC route. 😆 Do you know if the Kronos has the ability to “chain songs” to play “in order”? I know it has “set lists”, but is that the same thing? Can 20 songs be loaded and ready to go one after another, in EITHER the Kronos OR the MPC (which I think it can, as per your explanation). Whew! Sorry for the long question. Anyway, love your videos! Thank you!

Yes you can set up songs to play via the Setlist or just in the Sequencer section. When one song ends you will have to select the next song and press “play.” However the Kronos plays like a traditional tape recorder. It goes from start to finish and then it ends. With the MPC I can repeat the intro if I want. I can skip a verse and go right into a chorus. Basically there is no set order the song must be played in. In the church arena this is a must.

@@darrickkeels6387 Thank you, sir! This is exactly the information I’ve been looking for. I love my FA, but it doesn’t “chain songs”, AFAIK. We’re doing a “progressive tribute band”, for lack of a better phrase, and having the ability to move quickly to the next song will be invaluable. I love what I’ve been seeing about the MPC line, but I’d rather have another keyboard on stage rather than another box, to keep that “progressive” appearance up. Lol Thank you again for your info. It’s much appreciated! :)

@@darrickkeels6387 One more question about the Kronos for you, sir. (Yes, I bought one 😆). I have yet to start exploring (it was delivered right before I had to leave town 😞), but if I wanted to use the Kronos for background vocals live, would it be better to record them into the 16 audio tracks, or would it be better to import them as samples and trigger them from the sequencer? I’m just not sure I understand the difference between the audio tracks and the sampler. 🤷‍♂️ Thank you for your time and knowledge!

Eventually I decided to do something about it...and gave a little problem to the service guys...they have no idea what is going on and the unit will be I think, replaced. Last week they wanted to replace SDD.
