I'm American and I went to a public Liberal Arts high school from 1999-2003. You had to audition to get in and my majors were visual art and music. We had normal classes, but the majority of our days were spent on our "majors". I had 2-3 music classes and 1-2 art classes everyday, with normal classes in-between. We had a lot of after school groups, but you weren't required to stay after school. We didn't have uniforms and everyone got to dress however they wanted. A lot of students even had tattoos and piercings! It was really fun and I'm glad that I got to have the experience.

I find it so funny that they were talking about not having iPads in school. When I went to high school, there wasn't any internet. It is truly amazing to see the differences in each generation.

That private school seems very different from the public high school I go to. Our building is super overcrowded (it was built for 1800 students but there's over 2300 in attendance) so walking in the hallways is a nightmare. We have whiteboards instead of chalkboards. We don't have uniforms. Also at my school, the first unit in English was talking about all the class in the US education system lol

I lived in South Dakota when I was in middle/high school...that was a long time ago. I had a job washing dishes and equipment in a bakery every day after school. I would get up at 7am to be at school for my first class at 8am. Finished school at 3pm, started my job at 330pm and worked until finished(usually between 7-8pm). Then I would work from 6am to Noon every other Saturday. So, because of my job I had an old car and I was allowed to drive it for that purpose from the age of 14. When I turned 16 I had a regular drivers license and bought a motorcycle to ride in the summertime. Great memories.

Naw. American school lockers are like that because they are just designed that way, i guess. Because even in american public schools, the lockers are that big. I used to not really have much in there except my books. Mainly because i hated carrying them, especially if i didn’t need them for class that day.

I had smaller lockers (similar to what I imagine they were describing) when I was in middle school but yeah all high school lockers I’ve heard of have been these same full length ones. I wonder if our classes are spread out more here. Some years I was only able to stop at my locker once between classes because my school had five floors and we were constantly running around with only four minutes between classes.

We only had small lockers for books at my junior high/middle school and high school. Only the lockers in the gym were a bit bigger to fit clothes and backpacks, etc. when changing.

should check out Allen High School in Allen Texas, USA. I graduated in 2008 with 1200 other students in my graduating class. the high school is only 10th to 12th grade and had roughly 4000 students. It also had (and might still) the largest marching band in America. It also has a football stadium that was built for the football team that costed 60 million USD to build. Theres alot more to it as well, and i believe its currently the biggest high school in the state of Texas.

Differences I've noticed between U.S. schools and S. Korean schools based on what I've seen in K-dramas are mainly the length of the school days (in U.S. they are typically done by 3PM) and how in Korea, the students stay in the same classroom and the different teachers come to them while in the U.S. students have individual schedules and travel to different teachers classrooms. Also, the U.S. has janitors while in Korea, the students clean their classroom. (Again, this is all just based on what I've seen in K-dramas)

Lol in school we never wore perfume or skin care or anything and went just normally & we don't have play grounds after we are 12 years old(Not even middleschools have them😅) Except a special day we are not allowed to bring Phones, Laptops were allowed for IT major students & Sport shoes are only allowed if you have sports(you still have to bring your regular shoes too) Public school is strict lol

One difference between school uniforms in the US compared to Korea , is the length of the skirts. It really surprises me anytime I see such itzy bitzy short school skirts on Koreans but it’s soo normalised there , it’s crazy to me

Almost all schools in America have uniforms. It has been this way for many many years. Not just private schools. I did not see anything special about that private school in this video. I have seen better public High schools. The public High school I went to was near the beach and very large and beautiful. I love your channel, and videos!

Actually only 20% of public schools in the US require uniforms and the majority of them are located in cities and low income areas. 23% of elementary schools require them, 18% of middle schools require them, and 10% of high schools require them. Personally I think they should all have them so everyone is on some kind of even footing when it comes to appearances.
