Jason is someone not only who's photos I'd buy but also go to his stand up show
This guy never misses a beat. Quality photos + Quality laughs = my enlightenment
What I love most about your videos are the bi-weekly drops. They drop on weeks that I don't get paid, so I don't get that temptation to go out and buy whatever product you're using.
Opening skit had me dying (almost as fast as Jason)
haven't been able to go out and shoot or really have anything to do with photography in months, looking forward to getting back out and shooting after catching up with your channel. your videos are always inspiring and your sense of humor is priceless.
I think it would be cool if once a quarter Kodak delved into its archives and looked for an old film stock that they could reproduce with materials they currently keep in stock. Then make a run or two of it and then do it all over again next quarter with a different stock. Stick with materials currently available to them to keep the price down. I think that would be cool. Especially after seeing the Smarter Everyday video on creating the emulsions, I wonder how hard it would be to remake an older stock with their current ingredients. I would be like you going through your pantry to see which of your grandma's recipes you could cook without making a trip to the grocery store.

I think it might make a decent way to introduce a wider variety of film without over-saturating the current market.

It's a pet peeve of mine tbh, I mean, it's not my video so I have no say, he can do what he pleases, but idk if I like it
Ahh, thank you for the 13 minutes of delaying my obligations that are tearing away at my soul and leaving me with existential dread
Love the real 4:3 ratio, nice video
As someone who only just started shooting 120mm film and who literally questioned every single one of his few body skills while trying to make the small paper strip at the end of an exposed 120mm roll STICK, you have no idea how helpful that pixelated half second of licking that strip was to me. Of course, it's not exlained anywhere, so THANK YOU.
Like magic, the day I purchased Kodak Gold for the first time... the man himself posts a video about it.
Yo Jason, I've been binging your videos up and down over the last weeks, and I really want to give you my compliments. Not sure what I love the most about your videos...is it your upbeat humour? Is it that furry potato you call a dog? Or is it simply your pictures, that certainly make me feel like I'm not the worst photographer out there... Who knows. Anyways, I'm more than ready to plunge right into an unhealthy parasocial relationship! Are you? For real, though: You've been motivating me tons to get back into analogue photography and trying out medium format for the first time. You're great at what you're doing (both the photography and the videography) and I hope that you'll be doing it for a long time to come.
Dear Jason, Kodak made a mistake not throwing you in the testpool before they released this film. Your review is the best I have seen and have to laugh every video you produce. So informative and funny at the same time is really hard to nail. Also don't listen to your doctor and keep the dew up, baxter indeed will remember you as the aerochrome nerd you are.
Baxter's appearances: NONE Thanks pals, Cheers
After shooting a few rolls of Gold 200 (120) I would agree it is more of a 160 in terms of light sensitivity. Shooting at box speed leads to underexpose. I love the grain and colors, though magenta is noticeable, also probably due to under exposure. One thing I don't like is that the film is extremely difficult to scan on a flatbed. It is very thin and retains its curl and unlike other film stocks refuses to lay flat. That said I will use it but expose it as a 160 film. The browns and blacks are very rich, like Portra 800. The grain is very pleasing and the reds pop.
I probably shot a ton of Gold 100 in my Mamiya 645 1000s back when. Then those friggin Hunt brothers devised a scheme to try to corner the market on silver and film prices doubled. Don't think I ever shot any in 35mm. Well, maybe one time. I got an Olympus M-2 with their Zuiko 50mm lens and I tested a roll of Gold 100 in it. I didn't know that 35mm could produce such wonderful "creamy" tones. They were made for each other and the result was shear beauty. But, I had already moved on to medium format. I have two M-2 cameras still sitting in my camera cabinet along with all the other cameras I have owned during my 62 years in photography. Not that many. I only bought new equipment when it could help me do something that I couldn't do with what I already owned. I still have my Mamiya with three lenses. Oh, and I think I have an Olympus M-2 stuck back somewhere, too.
I can’t stop watching
Hey Jason, I’m sure you probably won’t see this but you’ve inspired me to pick up film photography and start making my own videos. Just wanted to thank you for being an inspiration! Keep it up, always a good day when a grainydays video comes out!
I love Hidden Light! Such a wonderful little spot for photographers. Thanks for sharing your photos, Jason, they were great!
I always feel inspired by your craft. Your photo style is gold. Just like Kodak Gold, but with good laugh at the end.
Hey Jason, your channel really helped me get back into photography. Thank you for that!
Absolutely love the videos! So happy I came across the channel :D you convinced me to start shooting film 🎞
I love your channel. You teach me about photography and cameras in a very entertaining and easy going way!
Amazing Jason!! Keep the videos and inspiration coming.
this is my favorite photography channel
I am glad I have a CRT to view these photos on. Makes me feel better that I can get 120 and use my uncles old camera now. Exciting!
On a long ass road trip, needed some home comforts; new grainydays, yes please
The extra-added drama of you loading that film roll prior to shooting really cranked-up my overall viewing experience…. Nice!
I know that neighborhood, lol. Lots of old cars and flowery alley ways to blow a few rolls of film on! Great vid as always👍
5:30 the dog barks a perfect triplet to the music lol
Watching Jason smile is that uncanny valley feeling when you watch a Boston Dynamics Robot video.
I like the new Square format on your videos it looks amazing
I truly appreciate the commitment to the Mountain Dew bit
Ah yes, my fortnightly boost in serotonin from another master piece video from Grainydays. many thanks x
Slapped out another banger I see
This is gold
New grainy days video LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
I just love you Jason
Hey we got it out here in Shanghai about a week ago I shot it in studio and some outside whilst it’s not Portra it’s a viable option and I think the greens can be quite flexible on this stock, dope video as always and kodak didn’t invite me either, which is totally cool because I was at a thrift store with $5 looking for a camera to buy
gotta love the 4:3 aspect ratio for the iPad users!
That intro, is 'gold'
Well that was some very lovely stuff indeed. Nice one Jason 👌
Could you continue your art series playlist? It helped me appreciate art quite a lot and I'd like to see more of that.
Ironically how my Kodak gold came in today and this is the first video that pops up lol… love your vids man
These shots are insane but the ones in the 8-9 min mark are chefs kiss
Damn Jason. This video was also absolutely great. I love the shot of the Mercedes because it's also my dream to have a nice picture of this absolutely beautiful car with such a great background.
Your intro and deadpan humor paired with your indepth analysis and comparisons is quintessentially why you're unrivaled in the film space imo
And the masterpiece of film youtube goes on.
No matter what happens to Jason...I will preach this Channel Jason for creating the best contents in this photography community....Amen
Intro was funny as hell!!!
This video is Gold...
Those neighborhood shots after Caleb's camera broke (RIP) were absolute bangers.
Kodak plz, this man's life it's on the line.
This in my Guy Fieri edition Holga will be fire 🔥
Great video, i will now test Kodak Gold 120 in my Agfa box camera
this is my favorite channel on youtube.
The photo at 5:50 is absolutely beautiful! love your stuff man.
I just realized that since I'm watching this on my phone, and you put so much white padding, the pictures I'm looking at are smaller than on the actual film.
I fucking love every single one of your videos. Thanks.
Honestly just really happy to see Fluff on your countertop.
I love u grainydays
the Spongebob memes had me crying laughing. Well done Jason
Fucking love the aspect ratio you put on this video! Looks amazing on my iPad! Oh and nice photos!
Funniest channel, never disappoints
LMAOOO I've only made it through the intro so far and I can't stop laughing!
So many feels
the shout out to hidden light hit different
Amazing video amazing photos
Hey Jason, thanks for keeping on keeping on. Over here in the UK Portra 160 (120 5 pack) and Kodak Gold 200 (120 5 pack) are both the same price at $59 (£50) so might as well stick with the Portra

I wish portra 160 was still that cheap - some places are now charging £90 for it.
The 120 version of Kodak Gold 200 is just repackaged Fuji c200, which is why you have those green tones pop up.
0:33 that last bit of “OHHH” was sincere。
They say it is economical but they played us. They increased 20-25% the price of portra and they introduced Gold120 at the previous price of Portra...
@KiinaSu
Жыл бұрын
And even with Kodak Gold prices having doubled in the last 2 years, 120 is still 2x as expensive as 35mm where I live. And in another 1-2 years the Gold 120 will be as much as Portra 120 right now.
When you said Get littly committee I lost it!
You get out and take pictures more than all of us average camera people. Seems like you can find more reasons to stay behind the camera. As a youngster of 21 years old( 72 now) I shot a ton of Ektachrome slides. I really liked the results. I should be shooting more film more often.
25 years ago, I shot a lot of color negative in 120 format. I used Fuji Reala for the serious stuff, and Gold 100 for the rest. Reala went bye-bye, and I stayed with Gold. Gold 200 looks to be just a speed enhanced update to Gold 100, his shots with an expired roll of unknown storage history notwithstanding. Gold 200 falls neatly between the high saturation and popping colors of Ektra and the flat, low saturation of Portra, which is relatively unsuitable for many of its uses today, but is easy to scan. Portra has lower grain than Gold, but in a 120 format size negative, the differences are trivial. Gold 200 - 120 is going to do very well as a cheaper replacement for Portra outside the studio.
killing me with the jokes, bruh, you special. thank you!
I found a whole stash of Kodak gold I had stored away today and then you post this
Wake up babe grainydays posted a new video
Best channel on KZread
I did find kodak gold on 120 different than the 35mm version, but as you said it's well welcomed! It's so hard and expensive to shoot good film these days. Keep up the crusade for aerochrome!
Not that it matters, but Michael Spencer Jones, the photographer who shot most of Britpop's Oasis' cover sleeves has been posting outtakes from their "Be Here Now" record cover shoot. He said he thought about going medium format, but instead used a 35mm Contax SLR with a rare Carl Zeiss lens and you guessed it...Kodak Gold. Great vid, Jason.
crazy your 20 year old gold turned out that nice. i had heavy color shifts in magenta and green. almost no other color.
bro love the new video size
he finally did my favorite film
Unintentionally, I think that Kodak Gold seems to be a happy medium between Portra and Ektar. I love Ektar (unpopular opinion?) but I can't do portraits with it and Portra is just too muted for me.
I like your videos before even watching them
Good stuff as always. I was sorting my photos while watching the video and I can't help myself finding 120 more "breathable" than 35mm format. More squared format and higher resolution
Love the hat!
The sky was doing its Irish goodbye..? 😂 what? Great video 🙌🏻🔥
The things I’d do for Kodak Gold in 35mm
YES BABY
Thanks for keeping your vertical lines as straight as possible.
I'm here for the humour and sometimes the film stuff.
The lord gave us a new video! 🎈
The video and photos look so damn gorgeous ♥️ Kinda makes me hate my super sharp lenses. How the heck did you get the video to be so damn silky and good looking?
I’ve put a couple of rolls through my TLR. It could be my TLR but I feel like the sky tends to be a little overexposed.
I picked up a roll awhile ago because I was surprised it was a thing again. I loved it. Now they can't keep the damn stuff in stock.
everytime I see Jason's video, all my problems go away. you're my therapist Jason
I've just been binging your channel as of last night. Just getting into film I'm feeling my inspiration absolutely fueled by channels like yours
