Featured is Kobe’s 1 dribble pull up jump-shot in a variety of situations, going both left and right. Whether in transition, off screens, isolated, etc., the pull up jumper was Kobe’s most utilized offensive weapon. Simply finding space, even the slightest bit to elevate was all he needed. This video showcases the 1 dribble variation of his pull up usage.

“The shot that really matters is the pull up shot, because it all comes back to that, right. And so you do all these moves before hand, they don’t matter. Eventually you’re going to get to a spot, your going to raise up and shoot. So doing that shot thousands of times got me so comfortable with the shot that I can shoot that shot anytime there’s nothing you can do about it. If you shoot a shot thousands of times, I can change the trajectory anytime I want, I can flatten it out anytime I want, you can be in my face its not going make a difference cause its on autopilot. You see what I’m saying? So like no matter what happens and transpires here whether its a jab step or a crossover or a double it doesn’t matter because when I get to that spot and I raise up and shoot, I’ve done it thousands of times, thats in the bottom of the barrel. You know what I’m saying? So it all comes down to that shot.” (Knuckleheads Podcast, Sep. 2019)

I don’t think it’s basic, the key here is misdirection, if you don’t have good misdirection, the move will be useless, every move need misdirection.

Kobe Bryant's 1 dribble pullup was no different from Jordan's 1 dribble pullup, pure mimicry.
Kobe was my MJ
2:14 is so beautiful. It’s like the shot initiates from his legs, goes through and up his jersey into his shot.

I play ball every Sunday. And funny thing is, along with being a major Kobe fan and knowing his moves, when you drop a series video, I try to incorporate what you post into my game when I play, spin baseline, one dribble pull up, dream shake, etc. The man has such a broad bag, it’s not even funny. Most complete bag, offense and defense, in NBA history #RIP

Rest in Paradise The Mamba, The Goat KOBE BEAN BRYANT !🔥💯❤
A good compilation idea for your next Skills Series video: When Kobe is in the triple threat, he swings the ball rightward once or twice to see whether the defender shifts or remains stationary. Kobe then swings the ball back leftward for a split-second before ultimately dribbling right anyway, to freeze the defender into thinking Kobe might not dribble right at that particular moment (i.e., on the 2nd or 3rd jab/fake). To the casual observer, it looks like he's just shaking the ball right-left-right before dribbling right. He does versions of this move in this very video at 1:38, 1:47, 3:24, 4:08, & 4:29. 2 famous instances of Kobe doing this is his 2011 or 2012 baseline drive-->reverse layup on DeRozan: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qKyH1qR_os23eqg.html & His 2004-05 baseline drive-->180 1-handed dunk vs the Utah Jazz: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d3eXysmsm6eXis4.htmlm56s Let me know if you know what I'm talking about or whether there's a more elegant & precise way to describe this particular move. AFAIK no one since Kobe does it, but then again I don't watch modern players as carefully as I watched & rewatched Kobe. & the triple-threat jab fakes have declined overall in the league, esp. since Kobe's retirement.

I think some refer to it as the rocker step. Kobe was definitely the best with it but several other players use it. I've seen Jimmy Butler, Austin Rivers, Jeremy Lin use it.

@@yungwong8789 Especially Austin Rivers. He uses that rocker step at least once every game.
one of the sick moves Kobe mastered
Incredibly difficult going right if you're a right handed player because all your momentum is away from your shooting hand. Which means you have to basically rotate in the air. sheesh! He was a master at it!

Kobe was a GREAT student of the game. If Kobe were alive today, he'd tell he learned that 1 dribble pull up from the Master-Jerry West.
Deadly move!! 🐍
Happy birthday Kobe 💜

The One and only " Kobe"
@domcarter keep these detail vids up bro, we gotta keep.mamba alive. Next you should do his push floaters 🤷♂️
the defense kobe faced compared to jordan... kobe had it way harder aside those few hard fouls in 80s 90s
To bad Lechoke doesn't have videos like this 😅
It’s hilarious when I see people try to make it seem like Kobe was “alright” based on the numbers, but if they actually WATCHED him play… they’d know he was the best pure player (non-statistically). He had the complete offensive arsenal; if I want the ball in a player’s hands with a game on the line, I want it in Kobe’s hands because he could (literally) make ANY shot.
🔥
1:51 the upper body strength needed to pull this off.. sheesh
There’s no one and I mean no one that’s has this beautiful craft and footwork. And if you disagree then you do it 🤔 huh mamba never out.
