Staying with the “no dribbles” theme, showcased is Kobe turning baseline side upon receiving the post entry pass, elevating for that classic fadeaway jumper. He seemed to favor the left block. Contrary to right, turning left shoulder meant more mid-air torque/fade action was necessary for elbow realignment, making lift essential in these situations.
Kobe maintained a good balance between utilizing it spontaneously and using it on a predetermined basis. When his matchup overplayed, the turn and proceeding fade was automatic - 0:33, 1:54, 3:14. His defender squarely behind him, he often used that quick step-out to create space before elevating - 1:49, 3:30, 5:15. In these instances, it seems certain that Kobe had decided on the shot prior to the pass. He also took advantage of mismatches in this way, as smaller defenders had little chance of effectively contesting - 0:58, 4:00, 4:10. He kept the ball close to his side during the upward motion, making clean strips challenging.

@@Theterminato2013 Kyrie is bro that shows me your ball knowledge what can't Kyrie do ? Kyrie has superior handles, footwork, 3ball than Kobe and MJ. Kyrie might be the most skillful player based on efficiency, moves, finishing, shooting.

Nothing worse than trying your hardest to contest, you know it's coming, left or right shoulder and still can't stop it. MJ and Kobe hands down the masters of the fade.

Another classic video and description, Dom! You highlighted how Kobe would get to spots beneath the 3-pt line and get a good shot without dribbling. That ability is something that players like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown could benefit from, especially given how the Finals played out. It was frustrating to see them constantly get the ball at the 3-pt line, drive into a crowd and struggle. I don't mean to put them down or expect them to be Kobe. But I hope they find a way to get themselves better looks in the future.

Does this count as a catch and shoot shot? Also, one thing I noticed about the Kobe skill series is the different auras emanated by his 8th Wonder of the World form vs Black Mamba. The former seems to have a more showboat and wilder type of jumper due to his youth, whereas the latter seems to be more calm and collected befitting a seasoned veteran. Keep this series coming.
