I'm obsessed with this series! I recently bought 52 weeks of socks and I have yet to make my first pair. It's so fun seeing you making the socks I want to make. It's a real motivation. I think i'm gonna start with 46 candle flame. I really love that one.

Toe up is sooo much easier if you start with magic loop then transition to DPNs or 9” circular

I've only just found your channel so a bit late to the party and sorry if someone else has already said this but the great thing with Judy's Magic Cast On is that as long as your using the thumb yarn for the top needle and the index yarn for the bottom needle it doesn't actually matter the direction you wrap them in! You can even mix and match between up the middle or down the middle during the cast on and it's still ok! The only thing to keep an eye out for is to make sure none of the stitches are twisted in your first row then you're all good. Loving catching up with all your old videos and your new advent series ❤

I have the book for a while now. And made a couple of the patterns. The one I loved the most is the Elve Slippers. The fit is amazing. And so much fun to make. If you don’t know which pattern to do next maybe you can think of this one.

I am loving this series. I love knitting socks. I agree that vanilla socks are boring to knit. I just bought 52 weeks of socks. Hoping to cast a pair on soon. I have a birthday sock to finish up and one more pair to cast on first :) so excited!

Everyone is saying so, but this series is SO precious and coool and I love it so much! I'd recommend getting the chiagoo shorties for socks instead of using the DPNs. It's just so much easier on your hands and magic loop is tedious and annoying as hell. no more thumb bandaid with the shorties and no moving the knitting around n around like some sort of fucked up knitting merry go round, ya know? Anyway, I feel ya dude. But try out shorties. They'll change your life. Promise. Knitting doesn't have to hurt.

Turkish cast on for toe up socks is so much easier than Judy's cast on.

I find Judy’s magic cast on to be fiddly. I instead use a Turkish cast on. Soooo much easier and almost the exact same result!!!!

Hi I feel the same way about the toe up sock, I really don't understand it. I don't like double points; they are not my friend so I will be using 2 circulars 16 inches. Good luck and I will continue to watch and cheer you on. I am doing the Mira sock on my journey. Check it out

Hey! Love your video and the socks-maybe they will be my next cast on from 52 Weeks of Socks! In terms of gauge, I have figured out my ideal needle size and cast on stitch amount as a result of making many pairs of socks and will always use the same needle size for fingering weight yarn regardless of what is specified in the pattern. Also, I find short row heels to be less forgiving/stretchy so I swap out either a fleegle heel or heel flap/gusset for patterns with short row heels. Hope that helps!

That def helps! I think I’ll start sticking to US 1.5, that seems to be my happy needle size. :)
