I agree, having someone knit (or crochet) you a gift means SO much more than a store bought gift. My grown son just spent a month teaching himself how to crochet and then practicing several times until he made me a beautiful red hat for my birthday!! It filled my heart with so much joy.❤ Also, I was super excited when you mentioned the Tallulah Cardigan. You know how much I love that design!!! I appreciate how open you are about the difficulty of making friends. I would have really appreciated it when I was your age. I was in a new city. I made most of my friends that I have now through volunteering. If there is a cause you are passionate about, and have the time, perhaps you could find friends there. Also, if you are invited out, make yourself go and meet people. Or, be the one to invite someone to do something. They don't have to be a best friend, but maybe someone you can connect with about one facet of your life? Just suggestions, not good or bad :)

Just wanted to add how sorry I am for the loss of your mom and for the loss of your friendships. I am much older than you and live a remote lifestyle, surrounded by forest, but I also went without friends for a very long time. A viewer of my podcast reached out to me and once we met in person, we had a million things in common. Now, two years later we are planning family vacations together. Friendship and finding your people can come along when you least expect it, but it will happen!!

Thank you for speaking honestly about making friends as an adult, I'm sure a lot of people can relate - I certainly can! I'm in my early 40s and I didn't really have issues making friends when I was younger, but since university I've moved around a lot and like you am kind of tired of making friends from scratch over and over. In the past i have mostly met people through jobs or houseshares but now working from home a lot is the norm, i dont want to live in houseshares anymore and anyway it seems the majority of people my age are living the parent life with no desire to meet new child-free people like me! I think the only way to improve things is to go to groups etc even if it seems unlikely to yield a result or you don't want to (I really hate joining groups myself but I can also see that it is kind of necessary lol). Good luck with finding your people anyway!

Friends are so great to have, I think maybe I'm just at a stage where I have difficulty to find the energy to make them and even maintain them when I feel there isn't a great connection 😅 I hope everything works out for you too!

Process and product knitter here! I love the paraphernalia of knitting; handling the needles and the notions, the ordered world of the patterns and charts, the ingenuity and artfulness of the designers, the ideas that come up and play out as you knit, the colour and feel of the yarn, the dance of the stitches and the homely quietude of it all. Also the dopamine when you get to that final row or stitch and see what you made. Or when you block it and it fulfils or exceeds what you hoped for. It’s just all great, isn’t it? So touching to hear your reflections on friendship. I have lost touch with almost all of my past friends for similar reasons. I’m in my 50s now and have a small friendship group who I love dearly. The vast majority of my time is spent with my husband and my two daughters. Sometimes I worry I need more friends and should get out more but honestly, this is how I like it. For now, they’re my people. Maybe it will shift again some time. Wishing you luck in your journey x

wow thank you so much for the drops review in the middle of the video !! I have quite sensitiv kin so I prefer Suri over Mohair but the Drops brushed alpaca pills a loooot. Anyone else has the same problem ?? :)

Ik brei&naai voor het product, maar ik heb een zeer uitgesproken kledingstijl dus op die fiets maak ik alsnog vrijwel alleen maar statement kleding haha Qua vrienden maken snap ik wat je bedoelt. Tot mijn studietijd was ik altijd het buitenbeentje en heb ik nooit echt bij een groep behoord. Sinds ik studeer ben ik elke twee jaar verhuisd, dus ik heb inmiddels vijf keer opnieuw vrienden mogen maken haha. Deze zomer zal ik afstuderen en verhuis ik wss weer dus dan mag ik opnieuw beginnen, hoezee haha :p Wat mij erg helpt met vrienden maken is idd leuk steevast naar clubjes gaan wat je qua hobbies trekt. Ik zit nu bij de lokale handwerkclub, en dat is een leuke mix van studenten en gepensioneerden. Ik ga om de week naar een bordspelcafé om met mensen daar te spelen, en zie via mijn wekelijkse salsa dansen weer een andere groep mensen. Vrienden maken is veel tijd met elkaar doorbrengen. Op school gaat dat makkelijk omdat je allemaal toch in de schoolbanken moet zitten. Als volwassene moet je actief naar clubjes in je vrije tijd gaan om op die manier tijd op te bouwen met elkaar en zodoende kan een vriendschap vormen. Ps., Amsterdam is een van de plaatsen waar ik solliciteer. Mocht het me lukken om daar aangenomen te worden en een huis te vinden, lijkt het me leuk om samen een handwerkclubje te starten :)
