Haha apologies for the confusion :) Kiwis for Kiwi is a New Zealand organisation helping the survival of the kiwi bird. Kiwis stands for New Zealanders! Kiwi has a lot of different meanings in New Zealand. That's why they often say kiwi bird and kiwi fruit (adding those words to it makes it clear what they are). New Zealanders are just called Kiwis though :)

They seem so relaxed and kinda cool. Glad they are doing well with helping them not go extinct.

What amazing work being done here! I didn't know there were so few kiwi left. Thanks for raising awareness and let's hope that those fifty will give a great boost to the kiwi population.

I swear, I grew up thinking Kiwi birds were extinct. But I'm so happy they are still around and thriving thanks to conservationists.

Me too! I got them mixed up with the Dodo bird.

For dog lovers, note that the fine is $100,000 if you're caught with a dog in a New Zealand national park. You can't even have the dog on leash or in the car. So don't be misled by the specialist dog shown in the video, leave your dogs at home.

@@NZC_Meow Cats hunt as well so I doubt It, both dogs and cats hunt small animals and guess what kiwis are? Small animals!

So great!!! I LOVE kiwis!!!! When we lived in NZ for a year we got to see them in the Queenstown bird park, but never in the wild. I love the sound they make! So cute! Thank you for sharing!

Hi Shanen, thanks for your message. The kiwi bird is indeed such a special bird. If you're one day visiting New Zealand, you could always help setting traps to catch predators. From the U.S. you could always support them with some money. Kiwis for Kiwi are an amazing organisation trying to protect the kiwis. Yeah I've seen a kiwi once, was in Wellington zoo, they are cute, if you came to nz it shouldn't be too hard to be able to see one, unless you are looking for a wild one.

This comment is old as hell but there is a kiwi in Britain! I've been to see it myself! It's the UK's only kiwi bird at Paington Zoo in Devon!

I am only 12 years old so I must ask my mother to donate: Me: mother, you know that I follow New Zealand in everything, especially cricket. So I want to donate 1,200 for saving their iconic bird that has represented them for hundreds of years. Even the famous kiwifruit was named after them. [I really want to taste the kiwifruit. It is not available here] Mother: are you serious? 1,200 is a lot of money. Me: you can eat a 9 inch pizza at a restaurant for 1,500 but you can't save a bird with 1,200. What about 50? Mother: no Me: even beggars on the street expect to get 100 from people and you have a problem with giving 50? Mother: did you forget where you live? You live in Bangladesh. And they are asking for NZD, not BDT. Me: checks what is 1NZD in BDT and gets the answer "1NZD=54BDT" then goes to calculate what is 1,200 in BDT. The answer is over 64,000 Mother: See this is why I can't donate 1,200. And 50 NZD is 2700 BDT is also too much. Me: OK sorry you don't need to donate anything.

They're so adorable! Always loved them, since I was a kid. So sad how all animals , everywhere are in danger of going extinct,yet they're able to be hunted. Disgusting humans! We don't deserve all the wild beauty.😥😥😥😥 Thank you for caring for these adorable fellows and trying to keep them around for a bit longer !❤❤❤❤

The World is a Circus -- I want to love your response a million times, I tend to get emotional when I see just how poorly we treat this Earth and it's amazingly beautiful animals placed here. 😥 We need to step up our care of both our Land and animals...or there won't be much left for generations ahead of us. So many have already been lost to over population and destruction of their habitat. I will share this video as many times as I can to get more people to be aware of this adorable bird and it's decline in the wild ! They're just the sweetest lil guys ever...they deserve to be protected and saved. ❤❤❤❤❤
