Saving the Kiwis: One man's effort to save the national bird of New Zealand

The Kiwi bird could soon become extinct on mainland New Zealand. But one man is determined to prevent this from happening.
Farmer David Wallace was horrified to learn that Kiwi chicks hatched in the wild only have a 5% chance of survival. He's on a mission to save his national bird and has built a 16 acre bird reserve on his land to protect them. Now he wants to turn the nearby mountain into a Kiwi sanctuary.

I wasn’t expecting you to reply this quickly, but thanks for doing so. I moved here to Auckland recently, and I’m really hoping kiwis don’t go extinct. I hope I may one day see one in the wild. In fact, I hope our future descendants will be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the world. We must preserve nature because once it’s gone, it’s gone.

I wanna build a reserve for kiwi's where no animals but kiwi's are there and there will be a huge farm of whatever they eat and there will be a big pond so they can drink water! and there will be a hatching area!!

No worries guys the thud was a trampoline.... and now he is famous by all kiwis in New Zealand as the first kiwi to fly.
I'd argue that the Kakapo is just as cute as the kiwi. And also from New Zealand.

It's good to see David Wallace doing well after retiring from Dunder Mifflin.
Great vid, but the music editing needs work; it overpowed the speaking in some parts.
Some reason these kind of birds fascinates me. The Kiwi, the Quail, the Ptarmigan, the Snipe, The Woodcock, The Kakapo etc. Short and stubby, yet bulbous and always full of character.

Save the Kiwis! They are so cute
First I thought the Kiwi was not real.... Then I found out it was NZ national bird and I loved them so much so I bought a Florin with a Kiwi on it... Now here I'm finding out they are real and going Extinct and well.... THAT SUCKS !! I hope they can bring them back !! What a cool little bird !!

They can't die to they're weight and small winds. Like a Dodo bird. If we could teach them which I don't know if it's possible, Kiwi will survive much much longer.
