Kitchen Remodel Part 11 - New Quartz Countertops Installed
In this Part 11 video, a two-man crew from FloForm Countertops install new quartz countertops, manufactured in Spain, on our custom-made cherry base kitchen cabinets. The quartz countertop we chose is Silestone, and the color is Lusso: floform.com/products/lusso. Near the end of this video, they install a window sill made from the same quartz. The craftsmanship, enthusiasm, and eagerness of the lead installer to explain every step of the process resulted in an exceptional product and an educational and entertaining experience.
Background: Having spent four years of our retirement in a small ranch style house built in 1978, we were ready to remodel the worn-out farm style kitchen. But the timing was bad. We were in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and most contractors in the area were overbooked and unavailable, even for an estimate. Then one day as we again passed by Tim’s Custom Cabinets, located at a new round-about in a residential area, we stopped in to inquire if they could give us an estimate. A month later, we sat down with Tony, the owner of Tim's Custom Cabinets and signed a contract for a major kitchen remodel. As it turned out, this remodel project took excruciatingly long to complete and was extremely disruptive to our daily life.
The total cost: A lot of clams!

Those men are extremely professional and masters of their craft. They did an excellent job.
Wow! Professional and nice person. Nobody shows the secrets.
That's literally the exact footprint of my kitchen lol. From the counters to the cabinets. Except this kitchen is much nicer. Good job!
That's a gorgeous countertop. it's a bit different than what I usually see that people choose. Usually the vein type. Those are pretty too but yours is very unique and it is just beautiful.
Beatiful!
they are really professional
Nothing like micromanaging contractors
cool good job
We have a nifty cart for bigger pieces. Back saver! We also just got a crane on the truck to pick up 800+ lb islands. We dont use an inclosed trailer so that helps us. Paralligns are great for seams!
very nice tools used No dust And also fab & Polishing work in factory very good. One suggestion give for you Adhesive used in Plastic : zip cover Wastage control. ( Chandra Mohan. India - Tamil Nadu )
Great guys, period of their work and result. Would love to see those guys do my countertop too. Am more surprised about the cabinets not being level and there not being a system to make them level. Never seen it like this before. But i guess it worked.

Cabinets are RARELY ever level, and when your installing stone you need flat ( hence the shims) and if its level on top of that even better.
Looks fantastic! between the cabinets and the counters. That looks fantastic, and I would want to own one. love your video.

Thanks so much!
When it comes to a 90° turn, would you recommend putting a 45° seam in the quartz or making the turn and keeping it as a straight line seam?
Looks great! How $$$ did it run you installed?

We live on the Olympic Peninsula in Sequim, WA. The contractor we hired to remodel our kitchen is Tim's Custom Cabinets. FloForm Countertops was the sub-contractor who provided and installed the kitchen countertops, backsplash and windowsill. The quartz countertop we chose is Silestone, and the color is Lusso: floform.com/products/lusso/. I do not know the cost of the windowsill because it was included in the cost of the backsplash. Thank you for your question and for watching!

I have three different quartz countertop brands in my home, MSI, LG Viatera and Silestone. Silestone is the only one that has a (small) defect and is also the only one not made in the U.S.
May I ask whats the finish of the countertop? Is it Suede? If yes, do you have issue with stains after some use? I like the sueded finish, but read so many bad reviews for the staining issue.
What are those lines across the polish side at 22min even
Tell me the sink you have used. I have same design double bowl sink with quartz countertops and want to avoid cutting to change it to single bowl
I'm hoping if you tipped them extra for the tour guide
What is the name of the quartz countertop? It is very pretty!

If he had leveled before setting the counter top it would have saved a lot of time.

That was the responsibility of the person that set the cabinets.
Love my white quartz countertops but my god if i knew how easily they stain i would probably get a dark color, i cannot leave anything on them!! I left a bag of tortillas on top and the color of the bag stained them, same with the bread bag the logo color just stuck on it

They could do one seam not 2
Wow, that was a big gap. 3/16" Somebody messed up. Assuming the cabinets are all uniform height I'd say the guy who installed the toe kicks messed up. Personally I use plastic handi-shims and put them under the vertical parts of the toe kick, not under the corner braces.

@@thekinarbofacts. Even if the floor is unlevel then sim up your cabinets. Makes way more sense than putting the stress on the counter top. Kinda annoying that these installers say this is normal rather than hold someone accountable for it. Homes are forever, they’re not meant to be rushed and have the shit work covered up with “trim”
Wak ah video.
That job should have been 1 seam not 2 . Looks great though. Good install

@@randallwingett it’s a great looking install. And if your happy with everything an extra seam doesn’t matter. They obviously use CNC machines and get better yields out of materials.

Where would you have the 1 seam? At the sink?
@eee3400

they did 2 seams not to get better yields, but to avoid breakage at the narrow bridges around sink when transporting a huge ~10 ft slab
@JS-zb1vv

@@eee3400this is quartz. It doesn’t break that easily. They have sink savers for the sink area. I do 120 inch runs all of the time with natural stone all of the time. If the piece isn’t longer than 130 inches. I would have done it in a single piece.
1st counter was good. They didn't make any money working with you.

whoever installed your cabinets did a piss poor job. Should of all been level to start with.
Heavy and dusty.
yikes those cabinets were way out of level. Poor installation on the cabinets first off. counters look nice.
Your comments r totally anoying.. otherwise the videos okay..
to much technology and waste of time exposition, conventional installation for decades prevails on this marketing video
Quartz countertops are very dangerous in manipulation and in diary use. Better natural granite. Too much people affected by silicosis.
