I’m bone on bone in my spine too. I’m in horrible pain all day every day. So I understand how he feels. My doctor back in 1994 told me I couldn’t work anymore. I had 4 jobs at the time. Which included taking care of 150 acres of tobacco. I told him I had to work because we had just built a house. He said, and I quote, “If you were a horse they would’ve done shot you.”.

Bone broth and other foods (yogurt, fish, blueberries, plums and various anti-inflammatory foods) can help rebuild cartilage and reduce pain. Supplements like MSM, GSM (glucosamine), Turmeric (curcumin), Biosil are used by many (including myself) for chronic pain and collagen enhancement. I would recommend meeting with a naturopath or doing online research to help your back issues. (And some bone health and/or arthritis issues relate to parasites so a parasite cleanse could also help). May God bless you.
My former boss had an Arabian colt that slipped on concrete. He injured his spine. This happened before I worked for her. I took him out to groom him and let him relaxin the pasture. H tried to kick at e when I brushed him and bite me when I comb his mane. I went down his spine slowly watching his body language.I spoke to the owner about his behavior. She ,like me in the dark about the colt. She called the vet. The vet found out the bad news about the colt. He had to have the last act of kindness before he was 2.
Bone on bone is very painful, just ask my knee. Mine was fixable, but this poor horse didn't have that luxury. Thank God for the Last Act Of Kindness. I know it isn't the desired outcome, but it's necessary sometimes. It's a blessing for those in chronic pain with no quality of life. There's no point in letting them suffer. Thank you, Dr. Nancy and HP. I love y'all.
Tragic that these race horses are pushed into training so hard when they’re so young. 😢
I know that some people don't understand why you give last act of kindness, that they think there's things that can be done. But they don't understand the pain these horses are going through, that surgery is not really an option.

I have a pinched nerve or something going on in my lower spine and the day to day pain can sometimes be unbearable. Unless someone has dealt with it personally you can't understand what a mercy it is for these poor animals to stop their hurting when there is nothing that can be done medically to fix them.

@@sometimessiri.8559 I've got pain issues and chronic illness and life is torture. I certainly wish for a quick and painless departure. At least these animals leave this world loved. If they are going to slaughter ,what do people think they are destined for other that death plus torture on the way? I commend these organisations that try and give them better medical care and mercy and a chance more than many humans even get in this world.
So sad for a young horse to suffer pain every time it moves its body. It's a blessing that you could identify all the physical problems and make the best choice. ❤️🇧🇻
This is so sad and upsetting to see a young 6 yo being so mistreated, all for the sake of mammon the money god. Now that the animal is injured, mistreated on a race track and no further any good for the owners she is getting kicked out and no longer being cared for. This world has become such a sick place where satan and his demons rule. Makes me want to puke. Thank you @Dr Nancy for taking care of all the sick ones landing up at you, and thank you for taking the sufferig Animay endures away. May she rest in peace now. 😪
Thank you for explaining and showing by x-ray what is meant by kissing spine. I too, have learned a lot from watching your videos.
R.I.P. so sad for a six year old to suffer pain. It’s great you are not letting her suffer anymore.💕🐴💕
Thank you for realizing at what point its better for the horse to opt to let him go and end his suffering, vs do treatments that won't be of benefit in the long run.

All the while knowing she will get bashed for it by people who have never owned a horse and don't understand what you just said. Gutsy lady.
Racing is hell for thoroughbreds. 70% of the foal crop of any given year will eventually go to slaughter and the incidence of catastrophic breakdown at the track is heartbreaking. Being born a thoroughbred is too often a death sentence due to training to young and working them too hard and throwing them away when they're no longer bringing the money. I own an off track thoroughbred, and it took years to correct the problems that training and racing caused (she was retired at 3 due to osselets). She's fine now, retired, and safe for life. Please folks, don't support thoroughbred racing. And, KEEP YOUR HORSE!!!

Standardbreds, too. I has 3, one harness raced for years. His knees were huge and his joints shot. Another was a cast off broodmare. I don't support any racing industry.

The Racing Industry like many others needs serious investigation into their treatment, breeding and care for these horses I’ve looked into it somewhat and what I found was atrocious. Thanks Horses Rescue Plus for giving them the dignity that they deserve.🤩🤩👏👏👏🇦🇺🇦🇺

No horse should be backed before 3 or in regular work before 4. They don't fully mature until they are nearly 6 years old. Race industry destroys horses before they even grow up.
Thank you Dr. Nancy, thank you Horse Plus, wonderful people, special care.
Dr. Nancy, your just the best. Thank you for giving this poor painful horse the last act of kindness. You always step in (everyone at HP) when no one else would. God bless y'all ✨ Blessings 🙌 Jennifer
I wish there were more rescues out there like yours having Ms. Vet on duty to give the last act of kindness. Some rescues I don't find to be kind at all. I appreciate what you do for these horses. I would send you money if I could but I am out of a job right now. The last act of kindness says it all. 🙏🐴🌈
It's so sad the abuse and neglect people do the animals, this poor horse, only bred for money and never loved. 😢
Whilst it is very sad that Animay will be PTS, I am so heartened to see a rescue doing the right thing. Too often I have seen rescues prolong suffering needlessly. Thank you for giving Animay peace.
Poor baby. RIP sweet boy
Thank you for doing the tough but loving act of kindness. God bless you!
It’s so sad that he even made it this far. Poor guy😢. I just wish people would deal with their animals when they get to this point instead of letting them suffer. Thank you for all you do and Dr Nancy you’re the best. ❤🐴😢
How sad for that lovely animal…. I wish so much that solutions could be found for their various injuries but for now the Last Act seems to be for the best. Hopefully in the future new treatments and surgeries will come about, I hope and pray they will. R.I.P. lovely boy. Good job Dr. Nancy.
So sad but his pain will be gone. Having had severe back pain, life was miserable and I truly wondered how I’d go on in that condition. Thankfully I found a good surgeon and had a good outcome. Pain truly saps a being. Bless you all for your work.
Thank you for not letting sentimentality interfere with your duty to this poor boy. People underestimate horses' pain so often and think that where there's life, there's hope. That's not kindness, it's selfish. We need to stop riding horses young, stop racing and rodeoing them and never exceed the 20% weight carry limit. Then there will be far fewer poor cases like these.

A poor older mare at my boarding stable has kissing spine and was "rescued" from an obese male rider. I put rescued in quotes because she's now being underfed. I'm doing my best to educate her new and inexperienced owner. It's an uphill battle.

@@googlewhyforwardfaqforward4076 The horse doesn't need euthanasia. Because of circumstances at the barn, this inexperienced person wound up in charge of deciding who got fed what and when. (Not mine, she got fed properly.) I did the best I could to correct that. (I've rescued starved older horses.) Thankfully a person with 40 years of experience will be taking over this week, and she will straighten it out. Unfortunate that this occurred at the worst time of year. How is it none of her fault? It's absolutely her fault.
RIP Animay 🌈
How sad that a beautiful animal should have such issues so early in life that they have to be euthanized, but at least this one is now at peace🐴🐎🐴
It is so sad the way thoroughbreds are just tossed aside if they make money or if they don't. This is the only part i hate about race horses there are a few who let the horse live out his remaining days where he lived and trained but for the most part there is no loyalty to the animal who makes you money one way or another. Kissing spine is calcification of the spine blades isn't it? Dr Nancy, where it has been rubbing causes calcification on the blades of the spine. It must feel the same as having degenerative bone or disc disease. in a human,, which is also extremely painful for humans, sometimes they can wire the bones together, so they are no longer rubbing together, is that similar the the kissing spine or would you grind back the bone to fix the problem? Dr Nancy. I know the kissing spine is able to reduce the likelihood of the bones touching. Dr Nancy you are such a great person your explanations make perfect sense. Poor Animay, give him a gentle hug from me sorry its goodbye. He knows you are saving him bless him. He will be in a better place soon. God bless Animay and take good care of him. run wild run free Animay.
Thank you for always doing the best and right thing.
Thank you for all you do! And yes, a horse that has behavior issues should have a thorough evaluation. As a first time horse owner of an Appaloosa, I was told he was misbehaving. Something in me denied that. I asked the vet to X-ray his spine after he kept focusing on his legs. Sure enough, KS. He had a ligament desmotomy done under standing sedation in 3 places. He was 8 years old. He is now 12, and other than the bump you mentioned, you would never know he has KS! I considered putting him down due to pain, but he was young with no other health issues.

sjohnson1876, Good for you! Taking the time and effort to diagnose and treat the problem and fortunately, surgery worked!
RIP Animay... 😢🌈💚🐎
Thank you for the education. Love this new channel ❤❤❤
So sad they have suffered for so long ,and it had to fall in your hands but I'm glad your there. Even in humans spinal surgery, and leg procedures are not a 100% so we as humans have to understand it's harder for horses so therefore they suffer. Bless you for being there for all these majestic beauties.
It’s so sad, inbreeding and too much work too soon makes such young horses‘s lives already so difficult - and end so much earlier. RIP sweet soul!
R.I.P. pain free Animay!
I love your channel.🙂❤❤
PatriseHenckell, I agree! This vet was so right to point out the many thoroughbred horses that are ruined, then killed when they can no longer earn money! I used to love watching races, the Triple Crown and others. But this sport has become too cruel now.
Breeders are at falt for letting this horse get into the main stream. To let him suffer....
Awe poor guy 😢 RIP baby 💔🙏
So young and so much pain. No suffering now.🐴
This channel and the docs great intuition and way of explaining these things is HUGE for the viewers. We as a society are kept so clueless about these things resulting in ignorance. I know this shared knowledge will help people make Informed decisions regarding their animals.

I sincerely hope so. I have learnt an incredible amount from watching these videos. (Even at 78, one is never too old to learn!)
I was told not to mention toasters so I won’t this time. Love the channel though
Only six. So sad. 😢
So sad, a young horse.
awesome content!
That has to have been hurting for a long time. It sounded like had there not been other issues, it might have been possible to try to fix it, but back surgery in humans usually has a long and somewhat painful recovery even when the patient can follow the aftercare instructions. That's not something I'd want to put a horse through.
Sweet Animay!!!
So sad but thank God for HPHR x
How did a six year old horse get in such bad shape ?? Very sad !

Apparently he got a spine injury during training. Young horse overworked, or a deformity as well, quite sad
Poor baby
So sad💔
I always hate that they are raced as 2 year olds. They are not fully physically ready. Like the big-lick, this should be outlawed in my opinion.
As much as I love my 3 OTTB's. Each one has had major issues with tendons and Arthritis. People don't understand the problem with starting horses before their joints are closed. 😢 So many industries start them way too young.
RIP It's too bad that you have to do this. But I understand.
Animay looked very much like an OTTB I had with kissing spine and other track related conformational issues. He had the same outcome. Can't keep those horses comfortable
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢R.I.P.
As a nurse I can only imagine what bone on bone agony he endured..I hate the race horse industry for the reason that they don't allow horses to mature before the throw them into races..a horse isn't mature until they are 5..you can work with them but to abuse them as babies is just as wrong as the Big Lick..thank you Dr Nancy for letting him go
You said..."if we fix the spine" ...what would that have been? If he didn't have the other problems could he have been a pasture pet?
❤❤ though so sad
Can't halp feeling sad and disappointed that this horse has no hope and will be put down. Doesn't feel like a good thing, even tho I understand the reasoning.

When the alternative is a life of pain, it is a good thing. Especially as young as he was. Could have spent 20 painful years or more.
At why he got drop him in slaughter pipe thank god you all got him and he'll rip animay sweet boy
Why don’t owners do the right thing thank you☹️
Poor boy 😢
Have a hunch that some 'never euthanise' rescues (often for funding/political/safety reasons) might pass on horses to rescues that will do the last act of kindness.

So sad that such a young horse has to be put down.
Thoroughbreds are broken and worked at to young a age , its a disgrace especially in the racing industry, its all about cash , inbred depending on the pedigree s , it's all about winning races, often these horses are only yearling when broken n raced , 2 year olds are regularly raced under different track conditions , horse arent mature until 4/5 year old , the majority of race horses have short lives before being slaughtered after being pampered !
Do you ever get Tennessee walkers that hv been subjected to Big Lick torture?
This would be a good time to bring up that most disgusting and inhumane sport "big lick" I think that's what it's called, where they put these blocks , nailed to their front feet, and I believe they somehow cut the top of the tail . Living in a very caring country where cruelty is monitored and policed at all times makes me wonder how a country like America is allowed to getaway with this abhorrent cruelty. The horses are stuffed in a very short lifetime. The looks of pure pain and despair are evident to see. Unfortunately I live in Western Australia and cannot do anything but voice my disgust at this activity. The people who are true horse lovers should all be voicing their disapproval to the government of America to stop this.
It can be treated. I have a current racing thoroughbred diagnosed with kissing spine. He’s raced twice and won twice
Racing is abuse
Is it so difficult to say our down? Stepping around it does not help people truly understand. I have had to make that hard choice with some mighty fine partners over the years. It's a real part of horse ownership.
