Saladin's Encampment.
After the retreat from Kerak, he was questioned his decision
and implied that he lacked faith in God’s will.
Saladin’s retreat decision from Kerak was a strategic move
that allowed him to preserve his army and avoid a costly siege.
Saladin knew that the Crusaders had reinforcements

"Why did you retire(retreat)? Why?"
"God did not favor him.
God, alone, determine the results of battles."

Salahudin wasn't a man of haste. His "losses" must had been due to him being concerned more about his soldiers than his own ambitions. This must not be the first time he retreated. That skilled 200k army told us how great he was in nurturing and caring of his objects. Most Muslim men these days are objected to their own narcissism, arrogance and ignorance. I hope the emergence of this Movie shall be a lesson for them to learn and be better.

When Saladin said he would quake for Islam... the essence of what he meant was that he was worried that Islam would become corrupted by the zealots, who will take his place... just as he witnessed Christianity become corrupted by their zealots, & knows they will take the place of their king. Saladin understood that evil is always carried on the backs of the proud & their hearts carry its greed. King Baldwin had the same exact fear, for his faith. And what is really interesting, when you read the chronicles of their saga, is how they both realized that the greatest tragedy was that they had to be enemies.

What needs to be noted here is that, Saladins allies where going to Financially gain as well as increase there land holdings. Zealotry was a path to Power. While Religion was sold to those in the lower class as the reason for the fight the ones in power had different incentives. No matter what the pope or prophet said.

I agree that this was also a wise political statement. The man questioning him was weilding faith like a weapon, implying that Salahudin lacked faith in God's ability to bring victory (and thus, the retreat). Salahudin's words turned that same weapon right back around, implying that - if God trusted Salahudin to lead the army - it would demonstrate a lack of faith to doubt that chosen leader.

So if they remove themselves from you and do not fight you and offer you peace, then Allāh has not made for you a cause [for fighting] against them." My grandfather was the head of a village in morocco and his father had this written at a sign near his house: حقيقةً، هي فقط افتراض خاطئ أن نعتقد أن الله سوف يمنح النعم بشكل حر للمؤمنين، لأن الأرض ما هي إلا اختبار بالتساوي بين البشر. A lot of people (including a lot of 'those' types) complain that this movie depicts muslims as the civilized, multicultural people of the time and treats christians as brutes and warmongers, but really the narrative of the show (which isn't a documentary, it doesn't have an obligation to follow all the exact details of what happened; nor should one think that they're being informed rather than entertained while watching this) is clearly against religious extremism. The wise and ponderate Baldwin IV is as striking a figure as Saladin, and with this scene it shows that the religious, dogmatic approach to war is present in Saladin's camp too. Masterful writing, though the protagonist still is a fish-out-of-the-water armor plotted generic hero type.

In his rise to power, he had promised Jerusalem to the muslim armies, without this promise, most probably wouldn’t have joined him. In fact, there were a few armies from Saladin’s predecessors that were still in opposition towards him.

Saladin was never considered the "greatest general in Islam." That is an absurd characterization. Saladin actually wasn't that well known of a leader for most of Islamic history after the 12th century. He was greatly overshadowed by people like Baibars owing to the fact that Baibars defeated both the Crusaders and Mongols. Saladin also suffered a number of humiliating defeats in his career. For example, at Montgisard his army was annihilated by a much smaller army. And Richard the Lionheart defeated him at the battles of Acre, Arsuf, and Jaffa. I should add that the reason Saladin became so famous was actually due to Europeans. His memory was kept by Europeans (see e.g., Dante's inferno, which features Saladin as a "virtuous pagan"). He was "rediscovered" in the modern era because of European colonization of the Middle East and became a symbol due to that. But again, he was an average general.

Thank you for reply. Since English is not my native language, I didn’t get your question but it’s from the scene after the Kerak battle and before King Baldwin pass away. Saladin said in the scene, “When I am not the king, I quake for Islam”. Saladin, the Muslim leader, says this to a mullah who criticizes his decision to withdraw from a battle with the Crusaders. Saladin meant that he is worried about the fate of Islam if he is not the king, because he thinks that he is the only one who can protect and lead the Muslims wisely and effectively. He implies that the mullah and other religious fanatics are too ignorant and reckless to understand the realities of war and politics, and that they would endanger Islam by their actions. Saladin’s quote shows his sense of responsibility, humility, and pragmatism as a ruler. 💕

This is one scene I really dislike because of how Saladin is portrayed. He almost comes off as blasphemous until he corrects himself, and he is very reluctant to go to war with Jerusalem. The comment about "how many battles did God win for the Muslims before I came?". Saladin was not born a noblemen, his entire claim to power rested on his persona of being a defender of Islam, the moniker "Sallah ad-Din" isn't his name, it means something like "Righteousness of the Faith". After Saladin usurped control of Egypt from his liege Nur ad-Din, he began conquering lands from other Muslims in Syria while also attacking Jerusalem, when the Caliph in Baghdad rebuked him for fighting Muslims he assured him that he needed those lands to drive the Christians out of the Holyland. He had actually vowed that once he drove the Christians out of the Holyland, he would give away all his land and go into Europe and destroy the Christians there. I doubt he would have appreciated being portrayed the way he is in this film, even though the acting was done quite well. There are many, many, many more historical blunders of this film, so much so that the historical advisors actually asked for their names to be removed from the credits because every aspect of the film was changed to fit a modern political narrative during the height of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's deliberately anti Christian and anti Western, but it also ends up being anti Islamic out of pure ignorance.

Given the back and forth at the time by Christians and Muslims it isn't really outlandish how miraculous if no by divine intervention most of the battle are during the high middle ages, From the 1st Crusade blundering it's way through Conquest, The Pendulum Swings in Hispania and the Balkans, Muslim Victory over almost impossible odds like Manzikert and Varna. I mean Baldwin and Saladin also had their own nigh Miraculous moments throughout before the Second Crusade not to mention what is going on in Byzantine Anatolia at the time. Also Morale, Zealots and Religious armies are one thing but God's Anointment is one hell of a way to keep the momentum going in the logistical nightmare that is the CK3 Timeline. Christians would bankrupt themselves in the name of the Trinity while Muslims will ride from Algeria to Greece just for Allah (Ironic since both technically worship the same god and Jesus is a prophet in Islam) Though Christ is King

@@philippevie3258 let me baby talk, 1) Logistics is shit in the high middle ages 2) most battles are determined by outside factors being won less tactically but by chance (Miracle) or brute force specially the battles between the Crusaders, The Abbasids and The Byzantines during the 2nd and 3rd Crusade. 3)Religion is good for morale and Politics.

Islam is dervied from "Isha Alayam" sanskrit for "The Philosophy of Isha". Isha is another name for the Vedic diety Shiva who is also worshiped in the form of a Black stone. Arabia was a sanskrit speaking land once upon a time. Siomething happened that created a distortion in the timeline. We must find that cause.
