1:03 I totally disagree with this, roadblock as if, that's ridiculous, they are essential and compliment for the franchise and its story. 2:58 Removing one or both would the worst decision ever. i think it would ruin everything for both fans and non fans of KH. There are times that fans simply don't know what they trully want and can also be very hypocrite with these types of discussions. 8:48 I care for Disney and still care till this day. 9:16 I disagree, i want Disney worlds. 9:56 Disney and Final Fantasy are part of KH DNA. With all due respect. That's just my opinion. Ok?

they need to keep the FF stuff in it and maybe try and add FF worlds like have Sora go to the FF7 world and see the homeworld of the FF7 gang plus meet the others haha I think Barret would love the hell outta Sora also I want another Crack at stomping my keyblade on Sephiroth's face Also haha as a HUGE Roxas Fan, I would LOVE to see Cloud, Tifa and Aerith all meet him and they all be like WAIT why does he look like Cloud/Me? THAT would be so much fun to see haha And maybe also add world based on other games made by Square Enix as they did with The World Ends With You in DDD Dragon Quest would be a wonderful world to add to KH as a way of Honoring Akira Toriyama (May He Rest In Peace)

​@@AkihikoLockhartStrifeWe're not getting any FF worlds nor any of the other Square worlds. It's always been visiting Disney worlds. They don't need to keep in FF since they contribute to nothing in the series other than fanservice and guidance since the first game.

KH wouldn't be the same without Disney. We know that. But the writing has to go back to basics. Each Disney world needs to matter and have good writing in itself and in the overarching plot. BUT... Disney needs to sit down, shut up, and let Namura cook.

Who didn’t like reaction commands in KH2?? It made the combat much more interesting

Back then, a long time ago, kh2 was hated upon because reaction commands was one of the reasons because it's part of the "mash x and triangle to win" criticism.

@@Redxan600 Even to this day QTEs as a concept is debated. Some say that the cool things that you can do in a cinematic sequence should be done with the main gameplay. RE4's remake removed majority of the qtes and made the final boss more about timing your parries.

@@samuraijack1057 While I have no opinion on Resident Evil since I never played the game, I will say that the qte in kh2 doesn't feel rewarded. You just have to wait to happen. Hence why the criticism mash x and triangle to win exist. But in BBS, the qte improved and made the reaction commands much more rewarding.

@@Redxan600 There's legitimacy in both these arguments. Reaction commands in combat, such as "Cyclone", "Rising Sun" and "Snag Ray", all do function like a timed parry in a sense. Reaction commands such as the boss cutscene ones in my opinion are where it falters, there's no skill involved, it's just about mashing the button. I think the main point is differentiating between what's a legit QTE segment and what's a glorified interactable cutscene.

@@Redxan600the mash X and triangle critics was always weird to me because there was lots to do in the combat, even in the vanilla game. If it really felt that easy it was probably because people were playing on easy. I think that the reaction commands in particular during regular combat was fun and added a reward for timing it right especially with gamblers dragoon and samurai nobodies. And boss reactions were memorable and fun that help moments stick with you.

It wouldn’t be the same without Disney. It would take away the special identity it has a franchise. People confused the Disney inclusion argument with relevancy and forced filler. It’s because the way it was executed in KH3 creates debates. But that doesn’t mean weighs it all down. Fans just want a more original way of incorporating the Disney characters. We don’t want another where’s Final Fantasy characters situation again. The FF characters for as little presence as there maybe were, their appearances made large impacts in the games regardless where they served in the story. It takes away the unique excitement that made the franchise what it is. They’ll always be original stories and characters to appreciate in the mix.

You can't have kingdom hearts without FF or Disney. This series has been so cool to me combining those two. When Kdh 3 had barely any FF characters, it was....so odd. But without disney, it would also feel so odd. Its what makes the series so special.

KH is inherently FF coded without the cameos. The spell/item names, the concept of summons, the combat, the complexity of the storyline and original characters, all stem from being developed by people who made Final Fantasy. It's intrinsically tied to its DNA, and you don't need cloud showing up to act OOC to see that.

⁠@@Kingdom850 the combat of KH isn’t really like Final Fantasy. It wasn’t until FF7Remake and MAYBE Ff15 when we got anything close to Kingdom Hearts. The complexity of the storyline and the designs of the final bosses are definitely Final Fantasy-ish as they both have Nomura’s touch. But those aspects were crapped on in KH3. And I recently replayed KH2FM (people tend to remember Final mix over 2 to be fair), and the final fantasy characters had a lot more interest than people give them credit for. Even outside of the story, they also served as plain post game content. Beating all the Final fantasy characters up in the colosseum + beating up sephiroth was part of the charm.

To me, Kingdom Hearts is a child's imagination, MY IMAGINATION, of what if you could go to worlds from your favorite movie company, and fight forces of evil, meet new friends, and save those who've lost their way. When I first discovered Kingdom Hearts, my mind felt light because of all the complexity, yet simple story that it tells. I've only played the mobile games and nothing more than a fellow viewer of the franchise, but whatever happens with KH, I'll be there, whether it's to laugh or cry.

You get it It all has a meaning. Light vs dark in kh is a Battle of Selfishnesd vs selflessness. Ther is depth to it. But its toll inna way that a Six year old doesnt get annoyed at the adult stuff.

What I like most about KH in terms of how they use Disney and FF is how they adapt and modify it to fit their own purposes or get the 1.5 pints to deepen the story of the world. My 4 favorite KH3 Worlds are Corona, ToyBox, Monstropolus, and San Fransokyo (Excluding Keyblade Graveyard as I don't think of it as a world but a finale).

Kingdom Hearts wouldn’t make sense without Disney worlds. There can be a good balance. Playing a KH game without Disney worlds just wouldn’t feel right

Well, that's essentially Kingdom Hearts IV is going to be. We're only seeing Disney worlds in Donald and Goofy's perspective in cutscenes while Sora explores Quadratum and possibly nowhere else as he no longer has the Gummi Ship to explore other worlds.

​@@radioactive_cosmicrays6968nobody is perfect all the time. But just because the stories fall flat now, doesn't mean they are not important. A good example is treasure planet, a movie that bombed so bad it literally killed the hand drawn animation of Disney. Yet it has its following and some would say it's the best movie Disney has made, the only reason it failed was because it was released the same day as a Harry Potter movie.

My favorite aspects of the Disney and FF parts of KH are when they mix together and matter to the story. Kingdom Hearts 1 did great with this, and KH2's Radiant Garden made an awesome arc that covered rebuilding the FF characters' homeworld while using Space Paranoids in the context of the story itself, driving the game's overall narrative forward in the leadup to battle of 1000 heartless. That is all I really wanted from KH3 in those regards, but following the movies too closely harms the game's story more than it benefits it. I want KH4 to be able to strike that balance that KH1 had to some extend. Even if there is a larger focus on original characters/worlds and live action Disney stuff, I just want it to ultimately matter to the plot at hand.

The only thing I want from Disney Worlds, is for them to be relevant. KH1 had the princesses of light concept that would tie them to the plot, but KH3 nothing relevant happened in disney worlds, except for toy story maybe.

Sora repeats this mantra four more times throughout the course of his journey. And as more people like Xigbar & Pete try to get under Sora’s skin, Hercules ensures Sora that he’ll be able to prove to everyone that his sacrifices won’t be for nothing. Toy Box: Young Xehanort is sent to conduct an experiment in Toy Box regarding the connection of hearts. Using Buzz & Woody, Young Xehanort was able to stretch the limits of the toy’s friendship and trust in order to turn the toys into pawns of the darkness. Through his observations, Young Xehanort learns that a strong heart filed with a vast amount of darkness can be placed within any sort of vessel the Organization desires, including an empty puppet, held together by just mere cloth & plastic. The results of these experiments with the various vessels found in Galaxy Toys contribute to the direct revival of Xion. Sora also exhibits strong leadership/competence overall throughout the duration of this world. He also demonstrates how strong of a grasp he has on what Young Xehanort has done to the world from his experience in the Sleeping Realm. Kingdom Of Corona: To ensure that there will be seven hearts of light available to forge the Keyblade during the final clash, Marluxia is sent to this world to locate a new potential heart of pure light. Here he discovers Rapunzel, who must remain protected & preserved for the Organization in case the Guardians fail to assemble. When Rapunzel leaves the safety of her tower, Marluxia allows Sora to use the Keyblade to protect her from the Heartless. But because of Mother Gothel’s capability of keeping Rapunzel away from outside forces, Marluxia assists her in returning Rapunzel to the tower. He accomplishes this by framing Eugene “betraying” Rapunzel for running off with the crown & by also staging an encounter with Gothel vanquishing a pair of Nobodies with a branch (a red flag given that Nobodies can’t be defeated by basic objects) to “save” Rapunzel. Mother Gothel, however, loses control of Rapunzel and succumbs to her own darkness, which makes her presence as Rapunzel’s guardian no longer ideal for maintaining Rapunzel’s pure light for the Organization. Sora also witnesses an act of true love between Anna & Elsa that was so powerful, it was able to thaw a frozen heart, which deepens his understanding of the kind of strength he needed to save the ones he cared about. This is supposedly a very important task for the Seekers as the box contains “hope”, the first ever direct clue for both Sora & the player towards the actual contents of the Black Box. San Fransokyo: After the success of Vexen’s Replica Program, Riku is sent to San Fransokyo to see if the Organization can recreate a heart from data, an idea that was somewhat influenced by Sora & Ienzo’s mission to reconstruct Roxas’s heart using data from the Virtual Twilight Town. In this world, in order to conduct this experiment, Riku accesses a portal leading to a mysterious void & retrieves both Baymax 1.0 & the robot’s “heart”. Dark Riku uses this chip to create a Heartless to collect the data he needed to construct the type of heart the Organization was after. After unleashing the Heartless onto the city, Riku is able to use the chip to construct a data heart of darkness made from conflict. Although Riku was doubtful that a being without a conventional heart like Baymax can turn an object into a real heart, thanks to Sora’s contributions, the chip also contains “hope” that will soon become a real, complete heart. The final pieces of the heart missing are elements of sadness & loss. To complete this task, Riku summons a dark portal, connects the Darkubes’s data to an empty vessel, and places the combat chip inside of Baymax 1.0 to attack Hiro, be destroyed by Sora & finish the data heart reconstruction experiment, which results in the revival of Xion. Winnie-The-Pooh: During his visit to this world, Sora shows signs that his more mature recent experiences has caused him to outgrow the child-like innocence of this world and appears to be going through the motions of helping his childhood friends. When assuring Pooh that he’ll still always be in his heart, he begins to express doubt internally & admits that his connection to Pooh has indeed become weaker. This troubles Sora as losing any of his friends is a major fear of his, but Merlin assures him that by using his heart to find a new path to his friend’s heart, he’ll always find a way to recover whatever it is that was lost.

In this world, in order to conduct this experiment, Riku accesses a portal leading to a mysterious void & retrieves both Baymax 1.0 & the robot’s “heart”. Dark Riku uses this chip to create a Heartless to collect the data he needed to construct the type of heart the Organization was after. After unleashing the Heartless onto the city, Riku is able to use the chip to construct a data heart of darkness made from conflict. Although Riku was doubtful that a being without a conventional heart like Baymax can turn an object into a real heart, thanks to Sora’s contributions, the chip also contains “hope” that will soon become a real, complete heart. The final pieces of the heart missing are elements of sadness & loss. To complete this task, Riku summons a dark portal, connects the Darkubes’s data to an empty vessel, and places the combat chip inside of Baymax 1.0 to attack Hiro, be destroyed by Sora & finish the data heart reconstruction experiment, which results in the revival of Xion. Winnie-The-Pooh: During his visit to this world, Sora shows signs that his more mature recent experiences has caused him to outgrow the child-like innocence of this world and appears to be going through the motions of helping his childhood friends. When assuring Pooh that he’ll still always be in his heart, he begins to express doubt internally & admits that his connection to Pooh has indeed become weaker. This troubles Sora as losing any of his friends is a major fear of his, but Merlin assures him that by using his heart to find a new path to his friend’s heart, he’ll always find a way to recover whatever it is that was lost.

@@Redxan600 it is. Gameplay got better, still there are moments where the disney stuff just gets in the way of the true potential of the game I think. Idk deciding to use "pirates of the caribean" and "frozen" for the sake of franchise doesn't cut it for me as a fan.

What's sad is I can't even blame anyone when KH I was made. Nobody could've predicted the route Disney would choose to go these days. Having Disney in KH turned out to be a long term problem that will no doubt drag the series down unless Nomura decides to get away from Disney. I wouldn't complain. I get Disney is heavily involved in Kingdom Hearts but given Disney's behavior as of 2016 to now I'd be fine with KH just dropping Disney and focusing more on the Final Fantasy side of things. Would keep things from getting messy in the future.

@@snifflesnop5824 Because the FF characters doesn't really matter to the plot unlike the Disney stuff. In KH1 ultimania, Nomura stated that FF were there for guidance and fanservice. There were even other Square characters that would've taken the role, but were cut off.

​@@Redxan600 Dude, FF characters were way more integral to the overall plot than any Disney character sans Mickey, Donald and Goofy. Leon taught Sora about the Keyblade in KH1 and in KH2 FF characters rebuilt Radiant Garden which acts as a home base in the game.

KH is owned by Disney so i highly doubt Disney worlds are ever going away

I think when looking at the Disney worlds in _Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Birth By Sleep_ and _Dream Drop Distance_ Disney wasn’t as clingy or restrictive with any of the Disney worlds that appeared in those games but once Disney had more success with acquiring Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios and having success with their later Disney animated films until 2019 (e.g. Tangled, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Moana, Zootopia, etc..) and started including them as worlds for _Kingdom Hearts III_ that’s when they started to become more restrictive with not just the Disney characters summons but also some of the new Disney worlds such as Arendelle, Kingdom of Corona and the Pixar worlds (especially Monstropolis) but not in the level as Arendelle. Ironically San Fransokyo was the only new world in KH3 that didn’t had any restrictions put on the world compared to the other new Disney worlds. Secondly, Everyone when they think of _Kingdom Hearts_ they think of Final Fantasy meets Disney, but after _Kingdom Hearts II_ and aside from the Moogles, the FF characters were sidelined in favor of original characters created by Nomura which led to this divide in the fandom that the FF characters should return and the Disney aspect should be left out, but removing Disney would take away what made KH special in the first place.

I would argue that kh2 that has Disney being as clingy because it was more of a movie in the game rather than original story like KH1 or KH3. Toy Box and Monstropolis weren't as clingy since Nomura had the freedom to do whatever he wants with the story. And this is where the misconception of KH is Disney meets FF started. Because FF characters had no importance to the story other than guidance and fanservice in the first game.

⁠​⁠@@Redxan600I somewhat disagree with your argument on KH2’s Disney worlds being restrictive or on par with KH3’s Disney worlds, because if you compare the Disney worlds seen in KH, KH2, BBS, and DDD, to the ones in KH3 it’s complete night and day cause at the time, the Disney worlds that appeared in KH, KH2, BBS, and DDD, didn’t had much guidelines and restrictions when the games came out because a lot of the folks who work on those animated films weren’t around as consultants and Disney let Nomura and the team from Square Enix do what they want. Besides, Beast’s Castle, Space Paranoids, Timeless River and Halloween Town were the only Disney worlds in KH2 that weren’t retelling the plot of the movie and had an original storyline, especially the former two. Now flash forward to _Kingdom Hearts III,_ Nomura and the team at Square Enix are now working more closely with Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar on the films the new Disney worlds are based upon and that includes working with the producers, the animators and staff who worked on those latest Disney and Pixar films which of course led to the restrictions and guidelines put on each world, with Arendelle being the obvious one and to extent Kingdom of Corona. The Pixar worlds even though as you said the staff at Pixar weren’t as clingy as the people who did Frozen and personally I didn’t mind the original KH exclusive story for each of the Pixar worlds through Toy Box and Monstropolis as it allows Sora, Donald, and Goofy to explore the Pixar movies world without retelling the movie which would create an alternate version of the film and lose the lessons and life value that made the original Pixar Movies special. However, in interviews and in the KH3 Ultimania, Nomura reveals that Pixar was more restrictive and clingy with Monstropolis than with Toy Box cause he mentioned that Pixar requested Nomura and the Square Enix staff to not have Sora be in his Monster Costume (which was a nod to Boo in her Monster Costume from the movie) and just have him be a monster and although it was never stated in any interview and the Ultimania, I could tell Randall not being a boss in Monstropolis was due to Pixar being too restrictive and their interference with the world. Also like I said before San Fransokyo, was the only new Disney world in KH3 that didn’t had any guidelines and restrictions put by Disney compared to the Pixar Worlds (Toy Box and Monstropolis), Kingdom of Corona and Arendelle. Even Olympus, 100 Acre Wood and The Caribbean didn’t had Any restrictions and guidelines put on by Disney in particular the former two.

@@Redxan600Regarding "Kingdom of Corona", I’m going to be upfront because while Sora, Donald and Goofy had better interactions than the _Frozen_ cast, the world's 2nd and 3rd acts had the trio stood out like a "sore thumb" in certain scenes, plus they remove mentioning of the golden flower, Sora and the gang never question about Rapunzel's long hair along with witnessing Rapunzel’s magic powers through her hair, flanderizing Flynn/Eugene's character, and especially having Sora and the gang be clueless of Mother Gothel's true colors while remained blissfully unaware about her after their first and *ONLY* time encountering her before Marluxia told them through context. On top of that, Sora wouldn't shut the hell up when he calls Rapunzel's name which caused him to attract the attention of Mother Gothel and later Marluxia. Just watching him calling Rapunzel (the second time before Marluxia appeared) almost made me want to shut him up about interfering with the events of the movie and especially the “world order!” Even Donald and Goofy did absolutely *NOTHING* and stood idle while Sora remained unconscious thanks to Marluxia until Maximus woke him up the next day. Shame on them. Even, the scene with Sora, Donald, Goofy and their first and ONLY interaction with Mother Gothel still raised Red Flags imao, and If I were in their shoes or been right beside them and if Gothel gave me the cold shoulder calling me "useless of no help" I too would raise an eyebrow and think to myself you know something feels off with this woman. Also, Kingdom of Corona itself raised more questions than answers when compared to The Caribbean and Arendelle, which made the world feel forced and linear cause it sure doesn't look like Rapunzel's journey from the tower to the Kingdom was two days like in the film, nor do I think that Rapunzel and Flynn EVER went to the Snuggly Duckling with the Pub Thugs and the Dam like in the movie when they separated from SDG from the Reaper nobodies, which makes sense cause when Maximus was able to rescue Eugene it didn’t look like he recruited the Thugs to help him out like in the film. I also don't think that the Guards were also after Flynn as it was only just Maximus that chased him which would explain his dialogue: _"The horse was enough, I don't need monsters on my trail."_ While I'm not saying Arendelle is better than Corona, that's not the point, but compared to the other KH3 Disney worlds stories and enjoyment, I'd put Kingdom of Corona way below The Caribbean, San Fransokyo, Olympus, Monstropolis, and Toy Box. Just imagine Sora & Company involved during the climax of the worlds based on _Wreck-It Ralph, Moana, Zootopia, Raya and the Last Dragon, Encanto, Strange World_ and _Wish_ but have the trio be just "there" sticking like a sore thumb in the background in several instances of the world not knowing what the heck is going on and doing their own conflict (e.g. Fighting a Giant Heartless), while the movies characters just primarily play out like in the movie but don't acknowledge Sora and the gang until after the conflict is solved. I just don't want Zootopia, Moana, Raya, Encanto, Strange World and Wish to suffer what Arendelle and especially Kingdom of Corona endured in _Kingdom Hearts III_ if they become a world in _Kingdom Hearts IV,_ or a future game which I remain pessimistic.

@@EChacon That’s the most gripes I’ve ever seen someone have with KoC. Personally I don’t think most of your problems were really that bad. They are implied to have gone to the pub during the time they are separated, meeting up after the “night” Raps and Flynn spend camping out. It does make some plot holes later on so I feel like they should have at the very least shown the player her healing his hand. And while I understand them cutting out the soldiers and the pub thugs, they really need to have had the stabbington brothers. Their absence makes the biggest plot hole when Flynn gets jumped and made to look like he abandoned Raps. So it does have problems to it regardless. To me the FF characters have always been a big part of the games to me. Sorry but I’m far more invested and excited to see Leon and crew than Ienzo and his silent guards. It just feels odd where we help the FF characters return home in the first game, rebuild it in the second and never mention them especially when we have Ansem’s apprentices show up and supposedly take control of their lab again like nothing happened. The only time we never had a FF character appear was in the mobile games, which seemed more focused original story and world building more than anything. Days where we do our best to not run into any characters if we can help it. And DDD where we got TWEWY characters who essentially were there to fill the void of FF characters. There were even plans to have other ff characters through the games. Laguna was ment to run the mirage arena in BBS. Vincent was also going to appear in kh1. So was Aya from parasite eve (another square property). There was supposedly an idea to meet a young Leon and crew in BBS before they decided it would be good synergy to have a KH game that was a prequel to highlight a FF character from a prequel game as well. Even in KH they were working on including Leon until they had to start over from scratch with a new engine.

What kingdom hearts reminds me of is Fantasia. Even though fantasia is a visual anthology, it's still a collection of stories from like-minded individuals that wanted to tell a story through Disney with Music, Choreography, visuals, colors, and a story to tell. Kingdom Hearts is Final Fantasy, and Disney telling a story with all their character's. The only thing I could see from KH3 was that they need to find more creative ways to tell those stories that fit into the fun experience we want to see, whatever form that takes. I only hope we see a new final fantasy character's make their way into the game like in KH2. KH4 will be something that SquareEnix will have a hard working hand in, but I can only hope for that.

IMO I see a lot of storytelling potential if Kingdom Hearts were to expand beyond Disney and Final Fantasy. There are a lot of brands and IP’s out there in pop culture that aren’t Disney but would make great Kingdom Hearts worlds; Dreamworks worlds, Cartoon Network worlds, WB worlds, Mattel worlds, Nickelodeon worlds, Nintendo worlds, even one of my favorite KH fanfics included Jumanji and it was cool. Sora in Smash Bros. is one of my favorite examples of the storytelling that can be done without the restrictions of ‘who owns what.’

Not sure why kh fans try to cap so much for disney when most of the playerbase now is older and *largely* like a lot more japanese media like jrpgs and anime/manga more than western stuff like disney

I guess with all the Disney acquired properties, everything just gets messy. Is that probably why Disney and Warner Brothers hasn't made a "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" movie in over four decades?

Kingdom Hearts needs disney because the disney aspect contrasts from the heavily deep story with the main KH story. It sells the theme of the universe being bigger than your own world. But Disney should stop trying to intervene with the soul of Kingdom Hearts. They should prop up kingdom hearts, not dilute it down into marketing.

I think the main problem is that over time, the Disney worlds were less integrated with the main story, what is the reason for Sora to go to these worlds? It was kinda missing in KHIII compared to the other ones. No FF characters was a glaring omission in KHIII, but they do have less of a disruptive presence than the Disney worlds. Especially now that their own cast of characters is as big as it is.

You’re right, it’s important for the kingdom hearts series (especially numbered titles) to find and maintain a balance between the Disney worlds and the final fantasy aspects again that’s the secret to the game’s magic

The way i see it is like this, i came for Disney but stayed for the original story. Disney could still own and fund KH whilst allowing Square to go down a different direction, whether its by Disney absense completely (not for all games necessarily) or Disney world visits without the worlds characters showing up and let the original story roll out in that world. Altho the Disney aspect is fun, it limits where the original story can go

This game got me out of some sick and twisted thoughts when I was 9 and 10.. I was truly set on planning my way out and because of my obsession with this game and the characters and just relating to a lot of them, it really gave me a light in my own darkness. ❤

My opinion personal is that they should keep the Disney worlds .. BUT they need to integrate the KH story way better. I really hated how 90% of the KH story was shoved literally at the end of the game … to me that was so horrible. Also, I really wish they planned the KH story and the re:mind dlc better … if I were to redo the story, I would make it so that roxas and terra don’t come back and it is only when Sora starts traversing trough hearts in the DLC, that’s when he rescues them and they show up! That would have a WAY stronger impact

And here I thought the Disney problem is that they have hardly released any good movies recently so they couldn't make impactful worlds out of them.

So long as Verum Rex gets its own game, those who want Disney exclusion might get their wish. Though Verum Rex should still feel like a Disney production at the minimum. I'm sure Nomura's up for it. Looking forward to summer.

to me the early KH games did disney nostalgia right, tasteful. KH3 however, did disney everything and a litttttle bit of FF. to me KH was the balance of the two. granted we never really had HUGE depth with FF worlds in KH :| at least there was the sephiroth fights in 1 and 2. but still. it felt like KH3 was trying to sell me recency bias to keep movies like frozen and big hero six still relevant. and with this idea of star wars.. idk man, feels more like KH is used to highlight other brands. meanwhile theres this huge backstory of lore happening in the mobile games. something i would love to see. especially with the remake trilogy currently, is a new sephiroth fight. we never really did get that final ending with seph and cloud throughout their smol parts in KHs story. FF worlds would be dope.

As long as star wars and marvel stay away from the franchise I am okay with whatever it grows into

@@RaxonXVIEven if Big Hero 6 originated as a Marvel Comic, the Disney version of Big Hero 6 was its own interpretation and was done 100% by Walt Disney Animation Studios and it didn’t had the Marvel Copyright compared to the Disney/Pixar for the Pixar content.

I always enjoyed Disney worlds in Kingdom Hearts up until KH3. There were several Disney Worlds in KH3 that I think they did well. These are the ones that followed the same formula as previous KH games, I.E. the Disney story is influenced/changed by the arrival of Heartless/Sora/etc. Things from the original story change (or the way they happen change) because they are now part of the KH universe. The worlds that suffered are the ones that practically told the same Disney story with Sora's presence having little to no effect on the outcome. Some Disney worlds recreated scenes from the films beat for beat, with Sora just being inserted. KH3's worst offence was turning into a musical, singing whole renditions of Disney songs. The issue isn't the inclusion of Disney worlds, but how those worlds are now being used.

Debate about what is Kingdom Hearts? I thought this was already answered long ago. After beating the 1st game, I know now, without a doubt. That.... Kingdom Hearts, is LIGHT

I didn't grew up with Kingdom Hearts. I discovered the games via let's play on youtube and KH3 was the first game I actually get to play back in 2019. My favorite part of the series is the original story surrounded Sora, Xehanort and the other, as well as the philosophical aspect about light and dark, what they means and how they show themself in a more realistic aspect. So Disney is a big part of it and I love how the games were able to use them for the general story. But then, it can create big issues, Frozen being the biggest example that come to mind. It makes no sense that Elsa isn't the main antagonist of this world because her character represents a lot of questioning. And I'm convinced Disney is responsible for this horrible world that annoyed me to no end. There was something more special in how the previous games treated the Disney side of things, and I loved searching for Mickey's symbol, ccoking with Remy or helping Winnie and his friends. Because it wasn't "in your face", it was just fun stuff. Like making the princesses a big part of KH1, making it all the more anjoyable to visit their world in Birth by Sleep. And divided into 3 characters made it more enjoyable than coming back a second time in KH2, this was boring and doesn't made much sense overall. My biggest fear, knowing the direction Disney has taken for the last couple of years, is how they will impact Kingdom Hearts is the worst way possible. I'm not a Star Wars fan and I don't really care about Marvel as well, so I wouldn't mind if they don't make an appearence in future games. We had Birth by Sleep and Sanfransokyo for that. I can't wait to play Missing Link and I hope Xehanort has find a way to continue his journey in Quadratum ^^

I wouldnt say add more layers but expend upon what was always ther. Nomura had ideas of what was revealed later when kh 1 was made.

It's true that many fans are invested in KH for different reasons. And I suppose that's the real reason why I like to speak my opinion, because people are free to agree or disagree. And I would love to learn about their reasons for doing either one. Perhaps it can be a bit irksome when opinions are misunderstood or mistook for something else, but it takes great discipline not to get carried away or caught up in a person's own opinions. I personally was introduced through 358/2 Days, and was invested in the original characters. It took a while for me to get invested in the Disney worlds, but I eventually did. But while the FF cameos were ok, I personally felt like they weren't really necessary, and sometimes I found them a bit distracting. I loved those characters in their respective FF games, but their KH versions really pale by comparison, at least in my opinion. But KH is copyrighted Disney, so I really highly doubt that they're going to drop Disney worlds.

Kingdom Hearts is everything. It can't be easy having to juggle what gets included. For what it's worth, KH to me is everything my younger self loved. Being able to visit these movies, hang out with Aladdin, Jack Skellenton, Hercules, etc. As I've gotten older I've come to more care about the overall story and have felt that the Disney worlds have been more a roadblock than serve the story. The Final Fantasy elements are cool but not what I came to this series for. I think the key here, is Square needs to pick movies that tie into the story or share a common theme and Disney really just needs to stay out of Nomura's way. Arendale was my least favorite in KH3. (my favorites were The Caribbean, Toy Box, and Monstropolis)

I want to play kingdom hearts missing link this summer I’m hoping for Brain, Ephemer and Skuld lore I really can’t wait to see which Disney worlds would be in missing link and I really hope we get some flashbacks of Ephemer’s life in Scala ad Calem, subject x backstory confirming Skuld is subject x and Brain and some time travel shenanigans

You’re on the money, less leaning on other IPs would give the story more freedom. However, it would be a good idea if more people became more critical of the story in these games, because the story is not good in its current state. Once it figures out how to tell a story well, Kingdom Hearts won’t need cameos as its main draw.

IF it’s indeed in development, I HOPE the Kingdom Hearts movie turns out to be good and will surprise us. Look at other video game adaptations that surprised us fans, that being Sonic and Mario movies. Those movies were FIRE, and also Uncharted was good, and the recent FallOut series.

No matter what people say the Disney part of the games is never leaving. For many reasons.

I’ve never known final fantasy except from what kingdom hearts exposed me to. But I’d always kinda preferred that over more Disney characters cause they helped add a tone of seriousness to the game.

As long as the developers let their hearts be their guiding key, then i feel like we'll be in good shape. Just dont let disney get their greedy fingers in too deep.

The core issue with "fans" who just want more Final Fantasy in the story is that the response is just go play Final Fantasy then. It's really that simple. So people who really try to act like it's somehow dragging down the story for not getting them involved are missing the forest for the trees. When we exist in a post Dissidia world it makes most arguments for a FF exclusive game in KH completely moot. There are more FF cameos than Organization 13 members. If anything there's too many FF characters that are overshadowing KH characters. Which is probably the exact reason Nomura so openly changed the script for KH2 with cutting out Sephiroth's involvement in the main scenario story. It'd be really hard to focus on anything Xemnas did if Sephiroth was just looming the entire time. Ultimately the ending sentiment is the truth of the scenario. There are just many different kinds of fans and expectations that come with the series which makes most discussions within the KH community rub each other the wrong way. I wouldn't mind more Final Fantasy in the plot especially after playing ReMond but at the same time it's not ruining my enjoyment if they don't use FF characters as much as Disney characters. I think they did a very careful balance between the two. The FF characters stand out as important and Disney characters felt authentic to Sora's growth. I really couldn't imagine the series without the two mixed because that's what makes "Original KH Characters". Sora's very first outfit is heavily coded to be Mickey Mouse's design. The very Keyblade Sora has at all times had the Disney Logo everywhere he goes. It's the core identity of the series and why it's so magical for so many reasons. West and East Developers and Artists combine to make one of the most influential pieces of videogame history. Disney + Final Fantasy. An American juggernaut of a company that's responsible for popularizing animations to a world wide audience with the most iconic series of videogame culture. It's not just some throw away combo. Try to really admire that simple idea of "Disney + Final Fantasy" and realize how important that is not just for Kingdom Hearts but culturally as a whole human species. Merging and uniting two of the most well known artistic industries in the world. So it really shouldn't have surprised anyone that Kingdom Hearts is this iconic for videogames and the exact reason why it got popular is so undervalued. Disney + Square Enix. That still blows my mind to this very day. It's so hard to convey to new fans how much that really means to people especially who were very attached to Final Fantasy at the time. This was a huge shift in not just a videogame company but a cultural shift as a whole. Dubstep and Skrillex literally wouldn't have existed without Kingdom Hearts. The term "Action-RPG" wouldn't carry the same weight. I can go on and on about KH cultural influences but I'm sure you're also very aware how much KH has changed the world as a whole. I really mean it. When Star Wars came out the entire movie industry changed. Kingdom Hearts is that level of importance for videogames. Anytime people say light and dark we're all thinking about KH now. That's how powerful it is. It's now just associated with very basic concepts we use everyday to describe our reality.

AH GOD HERE WE GO AGAIN

I'm OK with Disney, I'm OK with final fantasy. What I'm not okay with are certain franchises being put into Kingdom Hearts when there's absolutely no reason for them. Especially when they are not genuine, Disney or square enix products (AKA star wars...and others like it). Now, I absolutely hate frozen. Not just the fact that it was in Kingdom Hearts but the movie in general. I hate everything abouquit and I was very disappointed when it was revealed to be implemented in the Kingdom Hearts 3. But my personal feelings aside, It's a very understandable and very justified decision. It's a genuine Disney product, it's very popular and let's face it nowadays these type of games are and more to the younger generation where frozen is the most popular with. So as much as I hate it, as much as I don't like it, I can't really argue against it. Star Wars, on the other hand, I don't care if the CEO's have bought Star Wars and even have storm troopers marching around Disney parks, I will never consider Star Wars to be Disney. And I don't care how many of you say "oh, it's already been confirmed" because a rock looks like an AT-AT foot. I'm still going to deny it until they show us something that can not be refuted, and even then I'm still gonna be angry about it. Even more angry than that piece of c***, known as frozen, being put in the game. With all that out of the way let's discuss what Disney World still have to be done. Mainly the rest of the new 7 princesses of heart. So the new 7 are. 1. Kairi 2. Rapunzel 3. Elsa 4. Anna 5. ? 6. ? 7. ? So we need the last 3. And they have to be Disney World for these 3, so let's see. I think a very easy one would be MOANA. Because just like frozen that is a very popular franchise, so it should work and even though she's the daughter of the village chief, that's pretty close to being a princess so I believe it would work. I think TIANA would work as another one because whether you go by the old book Princess in the frog or the actual cartoon movie Princess and the frog, it should be good regardless. Now the last one's gonna be a little tricky, but I'm gonna say possibly RAYA mainly because in the movie she's literally called the princess of heart. Aside from that, I really don't have any justification for it and partially because (at the time I'm writing this) I can't think of any other princesses that haven't been used yet. So I think those are gonna be the 3 worlds that were definitely going to go to, but any others (that's not Star Wars or others like it) I think I'd be up for.

Disney stuff in KH has just become filler to me. Ever since they stopped focusing so much on the princesses it's just been fanservice. Sure, it gives good bosses, but do the Disney stories actually push the story along? If your answer to that question is "No" or "barely" then, it's fanservice.

Well said. The first KH game had the Princesses abducted from their homeworlds (e.g. Alice, Jasmine, and Belle) and placed them in Hollow Bastion, an original world. There was an original story, and the aspect that Disney and FF characters interacted with the main characters, even outside of their own worlds. Same with KH II with Stitch and the Hollow Baston Restoration Commitee (e.g. Leon, Yuffie, Aerith, and Cid) interacting with Sora and his friends. Or Tron being pivotal for the series as the person responsible for restoring Hollow Bastion to Radiant Garden. Heck, even Dream Drop Distance had Sora's reunion with Tron/Rinzler, as well as having Julius as a secret boss in Traverse Town, leaving fans to bring up theories for his sudden appearance in the series. Beyond that, the franchise gave the impression that it allowed Disney worlds for the sake of bringing Disney material for the series, and not contributing anything for the story or premise of this series. You could ignore all the events of the Disney worlds from KH III, and nothing would actually change in the grand finale.

Riku targets Pinocchio to see if it would help Kairi's heart. Neverland shows us that Riku is siding with the villains and can control the Heartless. CoM: While they are the same worlds, it still shows relevancy with memories. Jack tells Sora that Fear is a signal of a strong heart. Alice informs Sora that the Queen would believe in a lie about her memories. KH2: Space Paranoids was the most important Disney world since it has the data about Ansem the Wise and the lore of Radiant Garden. Organization members were harassing Disney worlds and characters. Xaldin fell into battle in a Disney world. Not to mention, the three good fairies were the one who gave Sora new clothes and new powers. Days: Roxas learns about the importance of friendship from Genie. And he learns about what love is after seeing Beast's and Belle's relationship. BBS: We learn about how Maleficent learns about the princesses of Heart and how Pete is involved with her plans. Aqua learns about the balance between light and dark from the Fairy Godmother. Terra learns about his importance about his friendship thanks to Experiment 626 almost destroying his Wayfinder charm. Terra also learns how to control his Darkness in Olympus Coliseum. Re:Coded: I'll admit, nothing of importance there. DDD: Riku gives Quasimodo advice to explore the outside world, mirroring about his dream to leave the island. It reveals Xemnas and Ansem coming back from those Disney worlds. In The Grid, Xemnas tells Sora about how this is actually the original copy from Space Paranoids that Ansem the Wise used. He also told Sora that he should label his boxes, which is a riddle that Sora has other hearts living in him. KH3: Hoo, boy! There's a lot! Sora goes to Olympus to ask Herc for advice. Xigbar is there to warn Sora about his fate. Young Xehanort is in Toy Box to experiment the toys to see how their hearts work. Which foreshadow bringing Xion back. KOC and Arendelle has the new Seven Hearts of Light. And the organization members are going to use them if Sora doesn't gather his guardians. And Sora learns about what love is in those two worlds. Monstropolis has Vanitus revived due to the negative energy of children's screams. And he reveals to Sora that Ventus lives in his heart. The Caribbean has Luxord looking for the black box and Sora begins to mature and learns more about love. San Fransokyo has Dark Riku experimenting to see how a heart can be made out of data which again, foreshadows Xion's return. Even Winnie the Pooh contributes to the plot. It shows that Sora is growing up. And the lesson from that world is that whatever is lost can be found again which plays a major part in this story.

Disney's been HEAVILY pushing out the Final Fantasy representation, which is pretty terrible because it never has any effect on the overall plot. While some worlds were original stories in thier worlds, a lot were just unnecessary rehashes of their iconic movies, just with Nomura's original characters thrown in. It's gotten to the point where the Kingdom Hearts story benefits almost entirely by doing away with the Disney shit altogether. I say almost because with Xehanort bein supposedly done with, and Maleficent being a long running villain that ironically hasn't gotten much attention after the 3rd game, an argument could be made that she should be the end all be all antagonist.

Ah yes, I remember my hate 🤔 no, frustration-boner towards Disney in KH3. So much time was spent lollygagging in Disney worlds instead of accomplishing the laundry list of important things that were built up throughout the saga. Nothing important happens there, so why not just remove the Disney movies? My opinion changed a few years ago due to, of all things, Rick & Morty. That series has long-running plots but most of each season consist of inconsequential adventures. Each of those have thematic elements and small character development that subtly foreshadow the plot-driven episodes towards the season finale. And I like that. The characters can have fun first and take themselves seriously second. I see the Disney worlds as a KH version of that. They don't have to directly tie into the plot. The Disney world plots do a fine job at being fun adventures where the characters can relax and be themselves while subtly, thematically setting up the actual plot. I still don't care much for them, but I don't need to. That's all okay; it no longer frustrates me. Hating it would be hypocritical. Keep them around.

You need to go outside and actually talk to people and touch grass if you’re using that buzzword.

Im fine with Disney being in the game when its like the big hero 6 monsters inc or toy story worlds where its new stories with these characters instead of abridged versions of the movies plots but the best ones are donald goofy Mickey yen sid merlin and the like where they're a part of the main story and lore with the original characters and FF cast so more of that please but at this point i am mainly here for the original characters and stories so id like more focus on that with more characters like the second group i mentioned but can we absolutely stop with the abridged ones? It's so much more fun seeing new stories with these characters instead
