How blind were we all to the obvious! They told us to not forget about Kuttenberg right at the start, and here they come back with the real deal!

Glad they’re diversifying the combat. I absolutely loved the first game, but really struggled with the combat system, no matter how much I practiced. Glad I’ll be able to use a mace or axe and have a bit easier time, but I’m also glad they’re keeping the swordplay the same for people who liked that style of combat. Sounds like a win-win to me.

Ahh yes, who could forget about good old Kuttenburg, Great video Helical, super stoked to play it and see what madness you can get up too. Starts pouring everyone a drink.

You know I left a little wiggle room about Father Godwin, its possible, but I can see how they could hoodwink us into thinking that. But the other part that makes me think that they could kill him off is that they did mention that this game would be darker than the first one, so thats something that people would get really worked up about, him dying would be a shock to most people and I do not know another character that they could do that to.

The one thing I can't get over is how much they changed Henry. I found Tom McKay's face to be pretty much perfect for the role and would love to have him in KCD2 as well.

Same here! I wonder what was their decision for this massive change. They said they wanted to show Henry going from boy to man, but if its only a couple days then his head shouldn't gain this sort of square jaw form, not unless Henry has been doing nothing but Mewing exercise all the way to Kuttenberg!

@@helicalgoose especially since McKay is 44 or something. Feels a bit like a low blow from Warhorse to essentially be like "You look too much like a boy, make way for our new proper man-face!". Not to hate on WH/KCD2. I'm sure they have their reasons, or at least that it won't hurt *that* bad in the end. They've proven that they know their stuff and I'm hyped for the game either way.

It's funny to be newish here, watching your old stuff, and then watch this new video and you're like, "I just wanna know if I can still take people's clothes." Okay, that hasn't changed from where I'm at in the Hardcore Henry playlist. Steal the actors' boots first--what were they thinking wearing muddy boots in that cathedral?

Small correction. Czech paradise map will be 3x3km and Kuttenberg one 4x4 (so bit less than double, because KCD1 was 16km2). Also..combat system will now only have 4 directions (consoles players cannot do 5 :D apparently), polearms combat will be fully implemented as well as horse combat. In regards of clothes, you will be indeed able to steal them as in KCD1 however the dressing system will be changed. You will need to stack items in inventory and only after that equip them. Also you will no longer be able to create combinations like armor of shirt without chainmail etc. Savior schnapps will remain unchanged. Cat will be indeed part of the game, however they were not planned (map designers revolted and added them anyway). Punishments for crimes will be historically accurate. Dan Vavra mentioned in some podcast cutting ears (this one is speculation). People are going to react differently upon seeing you marks. Kuttenberg will be placed in the corner of the map and might not be recreated completely. Developers mentioned around 30 like Rattay streets (due to the number of buildings some houses will not be possible to enter). Hand cannon will miss fire if not maintained and hurt player. Each weapon was animated by a different hema artist and will better match the weapon style. Swordfigting will be more elegant now while axes and blunt weapons way more brutal...Theresa will be unfortunately gone and we will not get back into KCD 1 map.

Where are your sources for this? From every interview I've heard, they didn't want to release any story info, such as what happens with Theresa. I haven't heard those exact dimensions for each map yet, either?

@@Jordan-rb28 I wish I would remember. I'm trying to watch every interview there is with the developers. Several times they have mentioned one map same size as KCD1 but more filled with things. Second smaller than KCD1. The exact measurement I belive were mentioned by Dan Vavra in his 3 hours interview with V.O.X. tv. He spoke about everything (as usual with him). I belive it could be that one.

Many thanks for the clarifications and details! I am mostly happy with the hearing that clothes stealing is back! Now I feel 10x better ;) Also, "Cat will be indeed part of the game, however they were not planned (map designers revolted and added them anyway)" This made me chuckle quite a bit. I like to think there are Easter Egg cats all around like a game to find them by all the map designers as a small revolt. :P

Let me assure you - there's no way Dan Vávra is setting this story up from 1403 A.D. with a really young protagonist without the intent to delve balls deep into the craziness that were the Hussite Wars (1419-1434). Jan Žižka is like a no. 1 war hero for us Czechs. As a commander, from Bohemia he led pretty much the only successful medieval peasant revolt and he fought against pretty much everyone. He repelled crusaders left and right while being blind for some of it without being defeated once. Mark my words - we're gonna see older Henry.

I want to say either Sims 1 or 3 I can't remember, but all the buying mode sims music is a treasure!

when i watched the trailer, i immediately thought about your reaction lol so i'm glad you did one. The game looks insanely detailed and the graphics have me so excited. I'm glad they're keeping all the controversial tidbits like alchemy and i hope they keep the combat almost identical (maybe spruce it up a little so you can switch targets and group fight better).

With alchemy for me at least, its beautiful and well done. There are small things I would change, like Henry not having to go back to book every second if he wants to make a second potion. There are so many tiny time sinks in the game that its great great, and groooooaaan got to wait then great! so its like 3/4 great which is only 75%. So close to being amazing! And the combat I am really curious what they plan to make it "easier" for people. Either they keep the same AI and make the controls/targeting not a mess or they make the AI bit less masterstrike happy. Getting masterstriked by a peasant with a pole arm stick and one shot is not fun haha.

I cannot wait to see you used the broomstick against everybody 💀

I agree with the leaving the release date TBD. Honestly, I didn't expect them to announce anything until they had a solid game finished like within a 3-6 month span. But with the TBD they can hold off on the game for a year if they really need to.

Hmmm GOTY, that is going to be tough, the year is still young. The real part to worry about is Hades 2 which just came out in early access. Its super popular, but KCD2 could really be in the running if not front runner.

Haha, I try not to hype up too much if possible. I am excited about the game for certain, I think they will do a lot of good things and on a massive scale. The massive scale worries me just on the front of having too much empty space. In some areas of KCD1 which was a pretty large map already, there were some corners of the map that no one had any business going to like 98% of the game. That is one concern I have currently, but I know nothing at the moment so ill keep my concerns to myself. :P

The combat in the first game was fine - fantastic even. I beat my head against a brick wall for 10 hours but then I had a minor epiphany and could solo groups of 5+. It felt like I had an 80's action montage and when I got the combat finally, it actually felt like I'd accomplished something. I KNOW I'm not the only one that felt that way. I will concede that narratively, it makes sense for the combat to be easier. Henry isn't learning anymore, he's got that shit down to muscle memory. But if they mess up the combat system, or revamp it too much so that there's no smooth transfer of familiarity for returning players (a la The Forest and Sons of the Forest's building systems), it will ruin the game for me. Get rid of that save system (keep alchemy though, expand it, even), there's a lot of shit they could get rid of and it'd be fine or an improvement, but the combat is a dealbreaker if they mess it up.

I found the save system astonishingly good in KCD1 actually. It helps the player to unlearn what they've seen in other RPGs where anything but perfect success is an absolute failure. Then, basically as soon as that part is settled, they give you alchemy, so you can save-scum to your heart's content

I watched the reveal live and it was incredible

Yah I heard that same thing that Daniel was part of Mafia and was like no way! And now it makes so much sense how he was able to transition to make his own kickstarter game after working on such a great game before. Sad to say, but I don't think we are going to see another good Mafia game for awhile :/

@@helicalgoose Yea i agree :/ but hey, at least for mr Vávra it was a learning experience, because when THQ Nordic bought out Warhorse studios, he made sure that history won't repeat itself and insured the deal by them being not able to meddle in to his creative process of making games :) Dan Vávra is generally respected and loved by all gamers here in the Czech Republic and we trust him 100%. That is good to hear that they have a deal with the publisher not to mess with their stuff. Honestly with all the things with Embracer group going on, this game was sort of in question of my mind and it still sort of worries me that they might be rushing this because of this whole deal thing. For a game this large I was thinking another year in the oven for them to cook before released, but I hope I am wrong with all that. He does wonderful work in the past and it seems they care for what they do as well and not take themselves too seriously but serious enough.

I know you play the first one HARD for years, yet rather than blinded hyping like a lot else, some real rational thinking and reasonable speculations here. You sir are a true fan. Hoping to see more KCD contents from you!

I played first kcd1 hard too, personally don't want to assume anything just to give room for kcd2 to show me kcd2, if any chance it has big issues, well give it time, not just complain and rode off like you know how it is these days. Love it while keeping expectations reasonable is all i'm saying.

Ah, its not hard to be a fan of this game! :D But yah I try not to go too hard hyping the game since I really do not know any details about it, other what they're showing. I could make a really long video about details here and there are probably going to be the same and things I would like to change, but it would be a far different video than I normally put out and it might throw people for a loop of just me talking for two hours :P

I think if KCD2 comes out with no game breaking bugs and has that same KCD feel to it, I think it could be in the running for GOTY, but first we got to see whats going on there. This year doesn't have any too crazy games coming out that I know of, like I don't think the DLC to Elden Ring counts as a new game? That is the only thing I can see where it could beat out KCD2 just because I mean its Elden Ring lol

@@helicalgoose Again, good on you to remain calm about it. And i do hope the game is great for me and anyone else to enjoy many years to come. This year for me, i'm already been treated with Dragon's Dogma 2, a game i been waited for at least 8 years, like kcd, also holds a special place in my heart. So knowing kcd2 might comes out this year makes me very happy, if it has to be a goty, kcd2 don't even need to try harder than the last one for me to be my personal goty ( because honestly, though i love dd2 like no others, it's a 7 out of 10 game ). But seriously in situation like this, i don't think one should care about goty, more fun all the better.

Just so you know 11 people started making the first but close to the end they had 120 something people. But still 120 to 250.

Ah many thanks for that information! That actually makes more sense, that only a 11 people making a near if not a triple A style game would be impressive. But a jump of double the staff still is crazy to think about. I am hoping they get to add in all the little easter eggs and little side quests. In the first KCD there are so many named characters with no quests or quests that don't go anywhere in the game, that you can tell that something was left unfinished. Hopeing that this next game its not so much.

It's sad that there'll be no swimming mechanics, Henry would still be afraid of shoulder level water

There is a mod in KCD for that, but its sort of wonky. You can make other players horses or something else but it might be worth playing around with. I haven't touched it, but I have seen other people use it with up to four players.

CHALLENGE: Let your first KCD 2 playthrough be in Hardcore Mode.

Ooooh that is a good challenge. I feel like I might not know what to do during some missions and just go out there and start murdering my way through all of Kuttenberg till I reach my objective!

@@helicalgoose Ya. After playing KCD 1 for a while, I found myself wishing I could do it all over without knowing where everything is. Some quests might be nearly impossible, since you can't really ask the locals for directions, etc. but it would be fun.

In the intro of the first game.. during the raid.. isnt the redhead next to the bald dude.. Wenceslas??

the "Yoink" is one of the best sound effects for stealing, that we need to make a mod for adding it into the game when we can.

Absolutely looking like Game of the 2020's. Finally something that'll convince me to upgrade to a ps5.. Gotta start saving those nickels

Yah, it felt like the PS5 has been out for awhile, and they're releasing the PS5 pro, but not certain on the cost for that. I really hope they start dropping the price of that after this amount of time, but it seems only a hopefully thing, maybe by this holiday season they will.

I hope they make halberds usable now... like in inventory, combos, etc.

I can't remember from what interview it was, it might of been the German one so my understanding is off a bit, but I think it was mention that pole arms were going to be usable in the game for combat, but...I don't know what "usable" implied, like skill tree? or just that we can pick it up and cause havok with it :P

100%, 250 People verse the 11. I can't imagine what they can do with that big difference in staff alone. Also, they are basically building off the framework they already had, plus 5 years development. Its going to be the finished product of what they wanted originally. The only thing that worries me is that the second game will be too much like the first game, where it almost feels like a beefed up DLC. Not in a bad way, but more like, huh they didn't really do anything new if that comes across correctly.

I haven't been so hyped since TES IV Oblivion.. and I can't wait for you to brake it.

Haha, I hope we get our hands on it sometime and just bend the world to Henry's needs! And honestly I have been waiting for TES VI for now over a decade! I know Bethesda has fallen off a large wagon lately, but TES is one of those games they can't/shouldn't screw up.

The wound of the branding will heal but the scar of the branding stays it will have a negative effect in general but a positive effect with certain people. That is how a developer explained it in an interview. The game is complete and playable they are now working on optimizing and bug fixes.

Yup, I hope that the game is working as intended and it will be out sooner than later! The branding would be interesting just because of it seems current games have been too afraid to put players under too much stress or bad decisions that stay with them, so I don't know if they will stick with it, but I would be all for it.

@@helicalgoose If there is a studio that would do it my bet is on Warhorse. They hold on to their own vision even if it isn't the popular one. That is why I think the changes to combat will not be that big for example. More tweaks than complete changes.

You're not wrong. Also he did sound off in the "Woman's Lot" DLC so not certain if the voice actor was done or just replaced. I will have to find this out later, but yah his voice was also out of place sometimes.

I am hoping that is the case! But I am also hoping that the third one will come out sooner than the last since they seem to have an idea and also a team together to put together a massive game. Because, Prague, is well huge! I don't know how they're going to do that to be honest. The whole game is nothing but Prague lol

Ah yah, I use Vegas pro 20 currently on Steam. If I could change that, I would just buy directly from Song/Vegas Pro since with steam it gets a bit shafted on some extras or Sony doesn't treat Steam that well with its software. Its not bad at all, pretty affordable and does the basics like I need, though its buggy, but I guess I am use to bugs all this time :P

Before they release the game they have to check if its helical proofed 🤣

Yah, I didn't think they would've done Kuttenberg after all this time, I was thinking Prague if they did a big city, but then again they couldn't forget about Kuttenberg after all!

Hahaha i love the Jerma-esque intro here. Spongebob will still be relevant in culture in a century or more, I swear to god, just too many funny moments to work with from that show. 2:53 I have a feeling they're baiting us with this, and he actually doesn't die. They've admitted that they're keen about intentionally putting things into these trailers to stir up confusion and conversation in the community, while also not giving away much of anything from the story, so that would seem hard to believe. 3:49 I'm just hoping to god that the 4 directions that you aim/swing your weapon aren't just a plus sign. In real medieval combat (and in modern re-enactment and stuff like HEMA), you esentially never see underhand swings down low because they put you at a much higher risk with little-to-no reward, especially against plate armor. What I'd really like to see, if they're going forward with this, is 4 upper strike options -- so no top center option. That realistically makes the most sense, and since it looks like there may be a 'shield bash' ability, that could also be part of combos. 4:50 I believe the devs in some interview said that the branding can or will leave a permanent scar that forever affects your rep/stats, but more seriously-so early on.

Haha, I randomly found that intro awhile back and though it was good to use it here :D Spongebob like you said has a ton of untapped gems around that can be used from the show. With the Father Godwin, I feel you might be right with the baiting...Looking closer at the "person" face who got shot, its hard to tell from the nose and all that. But they did mention that this story was going to be darker, so this might be one of those things. The combat like you mention, I hope it has some complexity to it, but from how a lot of people didn't get the hang of the current melee combat, I am assuming they went down a simpler path. If I had to take a guess, the combos are the next thing for overall hits, sort of like a street fighter deal maybe? The same with shield bash, I feel that is a combo rather than an actual button click, but who knows. Maybe they redid it so I will want to actually use a shield. But if there are crossbows out there with near one hit kills, then having a shield is almost a must for survival. Hmmm, with the branding, if it last forever then I can see that being an actual punishment. From what I took from one interview it almost sounded like the scar will heal over time and the debuffs will go away. They didn't say completely away or something will stick around, but I am curious what they plan to do for this next game rather than make us wait 2 minutes in a jail cell.

I still hope the exploits from KCD stays. It was fun doing the Ledetchko and Skalitz random encounter gold exploit, and stealing tournament fighters armors at night.

I am actually really curious how polished the game will be on released. I hope bugs will be around that aren't game breaking but just enjoyable little side pieces here and there to enjoy :D

I think they are doubling down on the new criminal system to make up for all that we got away with in the first game. While I greatly appreciate the fact that you can outright rob anyone of everything they owned in the first game, it was pathetic on how the AI would react, and only if you got caught. I think the second game will give some very serious and probably realistic reactions if you were to do the same as the first game. Perhaps permanent penalties on haggling if you are branded for stealing? Based on someone's interview with Tobi, the Savior Schnapps save system is making a return. What occured to me is that they are putting an emphasis on preventing the ability to save scum the game, and that decisions will actually matter. If true, I can actually appreciate this non-bethesda approach, as save scumming in my opinion is like lying on a personality test, you don't get proper results from the test if you control everything that the test can see. Edit 1: Gosh dang, your edit of Daniel at 2:25 had me laughing my ass off. Edit 2: I left this comment halfway through the video, you pretty much covered what I said. Perhaps something of this comment could be of somewhat interesting speculations haha.

Haha, sounds good :D The new criminal system I am sort of bobbing my head around thinking how they are approaching that. My greatest fear is that they make the penalties too great to keep going forward. Example would be like RDR2, where the moment you sort of have any real police heat, its just non stop spawning police coming after you and its just sucks the fun out of it. Its something you can't win, which I get, but I sort of came here to have fun, not be forced back into a story mode and play by the "rules" what they want me to stick by. Don't know if that makes sense, but my feeling if its a non-online game, then letting people loose and mess with their own world sounds like a key to good re-playable game.

I'm curious to see how the abilities will reset, hopefully he doesn't fall off his horse and take a hit on thr head

If I had to place a bet, I am going with thrown in prison for long time. They get captured at Trosky Castle then imprisoned for a couple years or something. Then he still has some skills but sort of has to start from scratch.

Ah, yah I feel sort of bad, but I had to finish the previous "Killer Henry episode" then go forward and make this video lol Lots of time has past but I still wanted to get one out since people were curious about my reaction. I should do one episode about what I would like to see in the next game instead, but the hard part is making it entertaining.

100%, crime actually feels good. Skyrim, stealing was like meh, but funny that you could just cheese the NPCs to heck. I am hoping for KCD2 that it is just a thief's paradise!

Seriously, they should contract with you to playtest the game and try to break it!

Same! I can't wait to see what they come up with next! I really do hope they get enough time to put out all the quests they want and really fill out the world. In KCD, you can tell there are a lot of named NPCs around that probably had quests tied to them but nothing comes of it, or just other quests are half finished. Now with a world nearly twice the size, oooooo can't wait to play :D

just be honest with us, are you going to kill every npc in kdc2?

What...noooo. Henry is just going to "interview" all the citizens of Kuttenberg and some might get "tired" from all the questions Henry has to ask them. To why they're naked after Henry leaves, well...it gets warm in the big cities.

It sounds like we might see her, maybe. The devs didn't want to say anything so there might be something to it. My guess, is they might have another DLC with her planned so technically we will see her but not with Henry.

I wish they had some form of save loading. I had reading maxed out, bank account flowing, Now we find the true Henry may not be a good reader, and fighting skill may not be great.

Yah, they mentioned in the interviews there is no loading old saves, so no rich Henry coming over or maxed out stats. So it looks like they want everyone to sort of start at a base level when coming into the game which is sort of a bummer, especially since it is technically only a couple days since you left Rattay.

I firmly believe that this series is better Skyrim

Honestly, Skyrim is an amazing game, but I feel like the mods really pushed it into Legendary territory. If KCD ahd the same mod support like Skyrim did, then KCD would be on the same level if not better than Skyrim.
