Also having mistresses and concubines was a normal part of royal life. Even for women (albeit it was much more looked down upon, it still happened in most royal families in real life). If we consider that Westerosian lions died out about a century later than the dragons (which were introduced there by the Targaryens roughly 200 years before the event of HotD), it seems to be a mere coincidence that lions died out in the same time period, after being a deteminating part of the local ecosystem as an apex predator for probably _several hundred thousand_ years. This episode was where I really started liking Viserys. I was worried he was going to replace Rhaenyra for Aegon but here he stands his ground. And he looks so annoyed at Jason for even suggesting that. I love how he is still diplomatic but you can tell from the tone in his voice it translates more to "Thank you for the gift, now get out of my sight." And you see the look on Jason's face, he knows he stepped in it hard. Needed to shut up and just walk away.

Most of the dragons died because they were only hatched in Valeria, too many eggs in one basket so to speak, why not seek to expand your families power by rebuilding the dragons numbers with a marriage alliance with my house? He aint dumb. He never prepared or imagined himself king. He inherited a great and peaceful kingdom and he was obssesed with keeping that way. Unfortunately sometimes you have to commit vile acts to maintain order, Viserys never had the stomach for those type of things.

@@twinsen1949 The Family was going to fight anyway. If he chose one side, the other wouldn't accept it. And still would take there shot the moment Viserys died. The only difference is. The lines would be much more clear. But the War would of happen out of the others Ambitions.

They weren't even the most feared Great House back then. That belonged to the Starks and the Greyjoys, considering that everyone shit themselves in pure terror once they heard Cregan Stark was marching with a huge army at his back and they rushed every available ship they could to the Sunset Sea to stop Dalton Greyjoy from sacking every town and city on the west coast.
