This song is killing me 😭😭 i really love it 😍😍 it's a beautiful masterpiece sang by someone i dearly love Taeyeon is insanely good in emotional music cause she knows how to deliver the message and the lyrics of the songs And the fact that she cowrote this 😍😍 , and her acting Taeyeon is the best Well for the MV i think she was describing her miserable and toxicated relationship through the musical or the theatral piece she was doing with that actor who happened to be her boyfriend in the MV , he treated her sooo bad untill nothing mattered to her and she can't control herself anymore cause she's bleeding and i can't help but to notice that the audience who were watching the musical who throw flowers on Taeyeon after the musical ended and she bleeding it's like they were throwing stones and thorns on her ( i think this symbolize how people would just watch someone's misery without interfering and when something happens and they hear about it they start saying shit hurting people's feelings without paying attention ) Anyway 😊😊 i love it and the song is a bop and a half , we don't need to talk about Taeyeon's vocals of course cause Taeyeon's vocals ore out of this world and no one can say otherwise , i am gonna be jamming to it until my ears are tired 😁😁😁

The song is going to be on repeat for sure! I had similar thoughts about the MV too. Taeyeon did date Baekhyun from EXO but after confirming it in 2014 they broke up a year later. I wasn't there in Kpop at the time but apparently she got a lot of backlash and hate at the time so maybe your idea of not being able to live the life you want that you brought up is true in the MV aka "actors". Or maybe we are just clowns haha. Great reaction!

Finallyyyy...someone have the same idea with me. Most reactors interpret it in love story way but to me, it looks like a metaphor for her career life. How she literally in blood sweat and tears for her career where people find it entertaining(pple be clapping at the end). Also the scene where she got swarmed by the reporters while look like she badly hurting, its how media always works for news right. Cant Control Myself possibly means(to me) she doesnt have control over her idol/singer life. But when u said she might be entangled with someone from the same industry since both of them performing on stage, it suddenly clicked to me about her past relationships with Baekhyun EXO. That is something i didnt think about and what u said really make sense now. Thanks again for the great reaction. As always u never disappoints. 😁

Same, most of the deeper symbolisms in this MV are all shown metaphorically

The fact that she's one of the lyricists and she took part in the direction and concept of this MV is pretty amazing. I feel like this MV hits close to home for her because of what she went through in the past. And how knetz's double standards towards male and female dating "scandals." Whilst the male get away with anything, it's different for women. They get more hate and it's borderline disgusting really. To think that korean female celebs had to go through shit just for dating...

My interpretation of this is similar to yours. We often perform/create our best works of art when we are hurting inside. And I guess it kinda feels like people are applauding for your anguish. But at the same time, as the artist, you sort of understand the bargain you make with the audience, which I think the final creepy smile conveys

Well, this theory I saw in one of the comment sections was pretty convincing : "She's portraying an abusive relationship. The way they are when they're acting, so in love is what she yearns for them to be. But when they're not acting, he's abusive and cold and ignores her. (As seen in the scene where he throws the vase at her). The rose being thrown from the admiring crowd is the only admiration that she gets and it is very artificial and not the kind she wants, which is why the roses cuts her... it's just a metaphor for how something that's meant to be beautiful instead hurts her, just like the relationship. She portrayed an abusive relationship beautifully." P.S. Also, yeah there was a relationship she had after she became an idol itself (with exo member baekhyun), but I doubt it's about that since that relationship broke off due to some toxic exo-l who shitted on her non-stop.

Since Taeyeon wrote/co-wrote this song, it's not hard to imagine that she took inspiration from her real-life experiences, and that includes her failed love life. For us who are well aware of her past struggles, we certainly felt her emotions when she cried in the MV. Not gonna lie, I shed some tears, and I'm a 42 year old grown-as* man. To answer your question, yes , she was involved with a member of EXO and got a loooooot of hate from his fans (still does to this day, unfortunately). He literally abandoned her to the wolves back then, and that's when her depression started to get worse from which she only recovered a few years ago . The bruises and cuts she got were most probably from the roses thrown by the audience, who also saw her pain as some sort of entertainment 😟

Maybe next a Taeyeon marathon 🙈

I think there may be a lot of her experiences put in the song/video, I still remember when she cried and apologized to fans at the airport when it was revealed she was dating baekhyun, it was so painful that she felt she had to do that, back to the song I love it !!! Taeyeon's injuries in "Can't Control Myself" are caused by the roses that the public throws at her when congratulating her and is a metaphor for what idols suffer; they constantly receive bad comments and criticism disguised as "simple opinions". Even if they don't show it, those hateful comments hurt them, but at the end of it all they have to smile at others and move on. The public that one day loves them so much can also hurt them and cause others to hate them at the slightest mistake they as idols make.
