The face the horse made is known as the Flehmen Response. It indicates enjoyment of an odor or scent. It also increases the detection of the scent. The mouth open allows scents to move over scent receptors in the roof of the mouth. Most animals have this response. Big cats, little cats, dogs, rhinos, you name it, they do this. Most times, it is males responding to females, but in this case, the horse was reacting to the scent of water on a warm day.

The " smile " is called the Flehmen response , it's a reaction to a familiar or interesting scent . They'll have to start issuing the Troopers wet suits 😂😂😂. To those who shout " the horse is thirsty " neither of them drank they played with the water ! There's a great video on Forces News from last year of the horses playing with a trough of water with apples in it for them to play with 😁
Who says horses don't have a sense of humour God bless both of them. They obviously like this trooper. Also thank you to all the men and women who serve and protect our beautiful country.
One happy horse
That soldier knows and likes these horses, Im sure the water and his kindness is the only thing that makes this physically and mentally stressful Static duty , bearable - especially in the heat carrying over 12 stone standing on concrete in a buzzy environment for an hour or more without the spinal/ mental relief of movement.
I hope the people who think the horses ar'nt looked after are watching this, also watch the vidios showing them being riden along the beaches and in the sea having a good time, these horses are the pride of the army and solders.
That was so funny that horse was going to knock over his water and was laughing about it
I love seeing how well the horses are cared for.
Que hermosura ver esto !!! Con que cariño lo trata el soldado. Felicitaciones ⚘a los tres ❤❤❤
Very happy horse
You have to have a good gargle on a Hot day.🧡

Fabulous channel with gorgeous Kings horses kings guards and information galore if you can't attend various events or the privilege of watching the day events, including some rude tourists. If there is one thing to remember, DONT TOUCH THE REINS ON THE HORSES. TREAT THEM LIKE THE 💎 DIAMONDS THEY ARE. READ UP ON THIS AREA OF London. Otherwise, you are history. Be that good or bad. RESPECT THE HORSES GUARDS AND POLICE. THEY ALL DESERVE THE VERY BEST. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST.. 💜❤️🔥The camera man❤️🔥💜
He was so good with the horse. The horse was very playful today
that horse loves to play in the water so cute
Merecido refrigério ao cavalo Militar❤
Thanks Dad
Funniest horse I've seen.
lol he’s funny! Using a sponge would be easier.
I'm happy for the horses and how well they are looked after❤😊 but I'm a bit sorry for that poor guard (or also the ones on the horses) standing in the arch that had to watch the trooper carry around a glass of lemonade or what it was without him being allowed to take a sip🤣😆
👀❤️🐎🐎🐎
They wanted to play in it.

Thank you. 🇺🇸 Massachusetts ❤😂
How would like if people walked up to you at work? Stood beside you and took your picture then rubbed your face and neck? giggled like an 8 year old and said something stupid? Well?
Its bad enough the soldier needs to sit so still for hours expecting a horse to do the same must be abuse. What grandiostupidity.

They are on duty in the box for 1 hour then changed over , first duty begins at 10am last ends at 4 pm . The same horses aren't there every day the two regiments change every 2 days .

The horses are selected to be similar, so I can see how this mistake could be made. The longest shift is an hour at one time, some shorter. And correct me if I am wrong, but I would have to think for extreme temperatures above a certain mark (maybe 28 or 30??) the horses would be pulled or duties curtailed. Can anyone with knowledge of their limits mind chiming in? I persinally hesitate to ride above 30C. It gets miserable especially if the sun beats you up too.
Horses well looked after like our wee queeneo would have wanted them to be
