I guess I was lucky. I grew up in the projects, my dad was a WWII vet that played trumpet, my mom was an Elvis freak, my brothers were into every thing from the Beatles to Floyd, to Sabbath, my sister loved the Jackson 5, my friends listed to everything from the Beastie Boys, Run DMC to Metallica, Def Leppard. I was exposed to everything. I don't discriminate - there would be too much I would've missed out on if I did.

It's because you have too many uppity people who judge it like wine, and have clearly no idea what they're really taking about. A better example would probably be like people who call Picasso a great artist, rather than the autist that he was.

Or is he better off going in not knowing? He reacts to lyrics very well and the lyrics to The Wall tell a story. The story encompasses the entire album. So yeah he'd have to do the entire thing. Love that idea.

For a Floyd religious experience, you will need. 1. A Laptop computer, with good headphones 2. This tune, queued on youtube, 3. A big fat Bob Marley king size, packed to the tip with ganja. Method. 1. Smoke the blunt, with a coffee usually, and get absolutely buckled. TIP do this while sitting on a bed, or couch, close to items 1 and 2 so you dont move far. 2. Lie back, while wearing headphones, play this track nice and loud on the cans, and relax into your couch/bed while listening. 3. Pray at the church of Floyd, and send your soul on a journey. that is all. oh, and be nice to people.

I was fortunate to grow listening to Pink Floyd. I am old school and love different kinds of music. I will say of all time they are my favorite. People think rock music is loud and out of control. This is beautiful!!!! You can always play there stuff and it never gets old. I have had more than one Pink Floyd T-Shirts and wore them completely out. I am 50 something and this is my shit. People that don't like them don't really know masterpiece music when it is right in front of them. It's too deep for them. I will never understand how anyone could not just be in Love with them. I will listen to this stuff till the day I die.

Same way bro, I feel exactly the same way. Grew up in a rougher neighborhood where mostly people listened to hip hop. My dad was a huge rock and roll enthusiast, plus he had a big collection of cds and memorabilia. Your environment definitely shapes you and I feel that I missed out as well on this whole generation of music which created pop culture and influenced so much of the music we listen to today. I feel that even though I’m experiencing something new for the first time, I want to have someone to share it with. I want there to be memories behind the songs. I want to get high while Jim Morrison breaks on through to the other side. I wanna zone out to pink floyd and have barbecues for friends and family with ac dc playing in the background. I feel you for sure, and thats coming from one hip hop head to another. And I think that diversifying your taste in music is what makes you mature in life, what defines your character as a human being. Even rock and roll listens are listening to hip hop now, because it prides them certain feelings and highs you cant get with rock (and vica versa). Ultimately, take it one day at a time cause everything in life has a place, and lets just open our eyes and ears to everything around us to experience the whole picture.

When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eyes I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child has grown, the dream's gone I have become comfortably numb
