The graphics are so mind-blowing in this movie. I love how they actually made Kong look like a real gorilla (just super sized and battle scarred), even more astonishing to me is that the same man who played Gollum in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy and Caesar from Planet Of The Apes did the motion capture acting for Kong in this movie. Andy Serkis is amazing at what he does.

Andy Serkis as Kong was expectedly fantastic! No surprise given his performance as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings; and also a precursor to his work as Caesar in the Planet of the Apes films.

1976 was the first remake, done in a modern NYC. The original was from 1933, and this one was a throwback to that era.

Both 1933 and 1976 were contemporary films, set at the time they were filme. 2005 was a period film, set 70 years before it was filmed.

Jackson's valentine to the original KING KONG is extraordinary - it was that film that lit his love for movies and to be a filmmaker (he even made Super 8 films about Kong as a kid). You so need to see the original as well as its first remake in 1976 with Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange (in her film debut).

Carl is not totally evil, remember he tried to actually safe his cameraman and when he catches Kong with the bottle of chloroform he put his own life at risk. Just like Kong is not completely good as he kills innocent humans. One could even see them, Carl and Kong, as mirror images of each others. Carl is possessed of fame and money for his own enjoyment, and Kong is obsessed of Ann. Carl says at the end that beauty killed the beast not the airplanes, Carl's inside beast may have been killed by her empathy to Kong as well. I like it when movies don't always have happy endings, when they are good you try to understand why all went wrong and maybe dive into deeper meanings. IMHO, this movie is very underrated and stays in my heart as the best interpretation of the King Kong story.

Good reaction yall ✌. I remember watching this movie back then too.. on DVD. I watched this movie over and over again..but I would fast forward it to the action part starting after the 3rd time I had watched it. They did a good job with the storyline and the music in this movie too though. Even though the Action was my favorite part.

"It was beauty killed the beast" is from the original 1933 King Kong film. And it's right up there with Sunset Boulevard's "Alright Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my closeup" and Casablanca's "Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship" when it comes to most famous iconic closing lines in a movie.

@@courtneywallace871An opinion shared by many. And shared by all with objective brains. Most characters in 2005 are completely miscast. The film is too long, with too many unnecessary scenes and bloated nonsense. It can't even make up what film it wanted to be. It turns into a cringe inducing chick flick buddy movie half way in, totally against the spirit of the original. Some of the action scenes are not only ridiculous but downright stupid.
