@@andrewwavington9025the very lord of the trident and all the lords and kings of trident before him couldn't end the brackens and blackwoods feud, am not arguing that Robb did, but I completely agree with op about brackens and blackwoods declaring a northerner their king on the same day in the same location and almost simultaneously, was nothing short of miraculous.... Robb was almost rhaegar like in some aspects... people once they joined him, joined him until the very bitter end... and that's the loyalty that very few people could earn

@@kngoepe4200 right that’s completely understandable. War was inevitable the second ned was killed. BUT, let the price of Ned’s head be half of the kingdom. The second rob was crowned he should have been focused on fighting a defensive war and protecting the north and river lands. He was trying to make an offensive push so that he could put Joffery to the sword and make him face Justice. AND it was during his OFFENSIVE in the westerlands that he met jeyne westerling and ultimately lost the Frey’s and cemented the red wedding. AND if he wasn’t fighting that offensive Caitlyn wouldn’t have been alone with the king slayer and wouldn’t be able to set him free. Ultimately that Frey gave Robb some TOP TIER council and if he would have listened to it he would be king of the north with his Frey wife and all the houses of the north and river lands as his subjects. Hell I don’t even think the iron born would’ve attacked the north if the northmens army weren’t off fighting in the westerlands. It’s just so many things that could’ve been avoided bro

@@santiogo369 Robb attacked the Westerlands because he had heard of a new Lannister army being marshalled to replace Jaime's. That army if given time and Tywin's would have surrounded Robb. By attacking Westerland castles, Robb also hoped to draw Tywin from the Riverlands and back to his own lands. This would have stopped the likes of Gregor and Amory Lorch from raiding and burning the Riverlands. With regards to Jeyne, this is not the choice that cost him the war. Theon taking Wintellfell, Edmure blocking Tywin at the Fords and the Tyrells joining the Lannisters is what ended him. Roose begins betraying the Starks after the battle of Battlewater. This is before he hears of the Robb's marriage to Jeyne. Going to The Westerlands did not cause the Ironborn invasion. Him marching into the Riverlands meant that Balon could sail to Moat Cailin preventing Robb from returning to the North to defend his lands since Moat Cailin had never been taken from the South. Robb releasing Theon was his biggest mistake. If Theon does not take Winterfell, Robbs heirs are not believed dead and Catelyn never releases Jaime. With Jaime in Riverrun Frey never commits the Red wedding, Ramsey is not released to sack Winterfell and Bolton does not betray Robb. Roose Bolton even thanks Theon for taking Winterfell in A Dance of dragons.

He pushed into the Westerlands instead of continuing his march to King's Landing because he knew Ned was already dead and couldn't be saved from captivity. Plus he had targets in the Westerlands such as castles or armies Once he was crowned he pushed into the Westerlands as a diversionary attack for Stannis to take King's Landing, but Tywin teleported south to stop Stannis unfortunately

Nothing "technical" about it. She was manipulated by Littlefinger and made a massive blunder in taking Tyrion prisoner. She's the one who got Ned severely wounded and a dozen of his men killed. In all likelihood if that had not happened, Ned would have come back to Winterfell with Arya and Sansa and the northerners wouldn't have been involved in the war at all. Rob wasn't much better though, at this point in the story all Rob had to do was wait for the results of the Renly/Stannis battle and back the winner. The Frey guy had it right. All they had to do at this point was wait and pick the winning side.

@fazediamond5671 Right, and that's what's surprising to Cat: they're hailing a King of Winter for the first time in history. None of them have any designs on usurping the Iron Throne, their shared aim is restoring the continent back into individual kingdoms, of which Robb would rule the Kingdom of the North and the Riverlands. Had Stannis been the one who was anointed by The Citadel then these two regions would be in open revolt, because at least *on paper* Robert's rule was justified by his Targaryen blood. Joffrey has no legitimate claim to Aegon's throne, and as such these kingdoms (and eventually others) reckon that there is neither moral nor legal justification for the Seven Kingdoms to be ruled by one king. "Even their gods are wrong" is a line played for laughs, especially in the TV show, but it speaks to how the Northerners feel the covenant they entered into via Torrhen was broken -- they don't consent any longer to a fundamentally illegitimate government based in King's Landing, and the Riverlords agree.
