Could you please do Robb’s “Why would anyone ever want to be king?” Speech. I just reread Catelyn III from A Storm of Swords and my god it was great. It really just captures everything Robb is going through, and how at the end of the day he’s just a boy. Here’s an edited version of it as there’s some dialogue from other characters in between, so I cut some stuff so it flows better. “The Others can take her, then. Bloody Rickard Karstark as well. And Theon Greyjoy, Walder Frey, Tywin Lannister, and all the rest of them. Gods be good, why would any man ever want to be king? When everyone was shouting _King in the North, King in the North,_ I told myself . . . _swore_ to myself . . . that I would be a good king, as honorable as Father, strong, just, loyal to my friends and brave when I faced my enemies . . . Now I can’t even tell one from the other. How did it all get so _confused?_ Lord Rickard’s fought at my side in half a dozen battles. His sons died for me in the Whispering Wood. Tion Frey and Willem Lannister were my _enemies._ Yet now I have to kill my dead friends’ father for their sakes. Will the Lannisters thank me for Lord Rickard’s head? Will the Freys? In battle I might have slain Tion and Willem myself, but this was no battle. They were asleep in their beds, naked and unarmed, in a cell where I put them. Rickard Karstark killed more than a Frey and a Lannister. _He killed my honor._ I shall deal with him at dawn.”

The original Red Wedding from the book is easily more unsettling, disturbing, horrifying, and more shocking than the version we got in the HBO adaptation. The extra details such as the drums playing and Catelyn Stark's inner thoughts during the massacre gave me goosebumps. The part where Catelyn claws her own face apart was beyond disturbing along with how insane she became after Robb Stark was stabbed through the heart by Roose Bolton's longsword.

I think that type of grief is one of the most difficult things for an actor or actress to nail. Most of the time they just kinda cry a little maybe shout once.

This is by far the most chilling chapter in the whole series. Something seems “off” throughout the wedding feast. The food and music is unpleasant, the hall is hot and uncomfortable, the Freys seem particularly sly. The reader already knows that this is a precarious situation for Robb, and the strange atmosphere Martin creates just slightly accentuates our anxiety, but not too much. We still try to ignore it. When the massacre finally comes, it is shocking, whilst also feeling as if it was ultimately inevitable.

I know right. I kept thinking Small Jon was going to march out to Jon and turn around joining the true king of the north. But the show runners had to make Sansa and only Sansa look good. They could’ve even still had the Vale come in and it could’ve tried to divide House Stark by LF telling Sansa she was the true heir of Winterfell. That she had the Vale’s support and their army was larger and fresher than Jon and his ragged northmen. Jon could question Sansa’s motives for not telling him about the Vale army. Saying if it wasn’t for Jon showing his true character and inspiring Small Jon to switch sides he could’ve died asking her does she even care about her family (she could say “my real family is dead”) and Jon could say “Father would be so disappointed”. Meanwhile Areya could be making her way to winterfell just like she did except the day she arrives is the day Jon and Sansa’s infighting comes to a head. Jon wanting to use the army to march north Sansa wanting to march south for vengeance not really believing the Jon’s story about the others. But when Areya comes in they realize they’re all family. She convinced Jon to go ask the dragon queen for help (she had heard she landed in Westeros) while her and Sansa stay and prepare for winter. I’m just saying even without expanding the story like the books you could’ve still told a great game of thrones story using the plot they had they were just lazy and rushing it and that’s what makes it so frustrating.

It's kinda funny that when we read in silence you can go fast with your eyes in order to absorb the story but if you try to read it aloud you have to slow down, specially for an audience so they can grasp the intonation of the characters, sound effects, etc.

Very, very, very cool! I love all the work you put into setting the atmosphere with the music and sound effects, and what a cool surprise to realize that this chapter reading has a CAST! Not only that, but you have fine taste in fan art; Connor Campbell's like, high modernist ASoIaF fan art is some of the best. If I may ask, from one youtube guy who makes things like this to another, has youtube hit you with copyright takedowns over your use of music/sound effects, the writing itself, or both?

The Frey’s lost grandsons, sons, and were risking a lot by siding with Robb but then he broke his oath for something as petty as honor. He made a mistake by being honorable for it does not win wars and in truth is no more noble than just killing a man in his sleep. The red wedding was cruel and extreme but it ended the war a lot faster by killing a few high borns than a drawn out “honorable” war that would’ve killed so many more just for a useless crown. The Frey’s were spiteful and the Boltons were more ambitious but both had at least the sense to see when a war was going to be lost and rather than drawing it out they ended it with one swoop. But we do have that bitch Catelyn to blame for the war starting by taking the imp, getting Ned killed, neglecting Bran and Rickon, and just overall messing everything up. Now we have a vengeful corpse that’s little more than a murderer and a monster, claiming justice but only against herself when it was a alive was Catelyn. I hope Stoneheart, Lem, Seven Strings, Lucky, Harrwin all fall soon.
