Catelyn Frees Jamie || Audiobook

Ойын-сауық

Catelyn pays Jamie Lannister a visit who is held captive. The arrogance in Jamie can be seen even when locked up. Roy's voice for Jamie also changes in later scenes when Jamie adorns a humbler character.

    He's dumbed down massively from the get go. He's not as level headed and witty as Tyrion, but one of the most sharp tongued, quick and aggressive characters in the book and with the darkest mind you can find on POV characters. At one point, he even thinks that Joffrey's not his, Cersei was too afraid of people figuring it out, she never let him hold Joffrey as a kid. To him, ''_Joffrey was nothing but a squirt in Cersei's cunt_'' He has quite many amazing lines they discarded.

    It was a truly dumb decision. Cat was blinded by the love of her daughters. Was a complete moron though. If they held onto Jaime the red wedding would not have happened. Tywin would never have made such a gambit he knew Jaime left captivity

    21:51 "I think Ned Stark loved Robert even better than he ever loved his brother or father or even you my lady. He was never unfaithful to Robert, was he?" Another one of those sneaky lines by GRRM, because, of course assuming that R+L=J, in reality it would've been the other way around. Ned in actual fact stayed true to Catelyn and went against Robert, who wanted all Targaryens dead.

    This is my favorite chapter from A Clash of Kings. It was very late in the book and Jaime never even appeared throughout all the 800s pages but he was often talked about by other characters. It was so exciting to finally get to read a dialogue with him and Catelyn, and a perfect kick off to start his amazing arc in A Storm of Swords.

    Robb made many more mistakes. He was to blame. He executed Karstark despite everyone saying not to. Losing half his army. He never listened to his Bannermen. He sent Theon to treat with his father. After Cat told him not to. This cost him Winterfell and seriously weakened the cause. He broke the Frey alliance. He married someone who gave him no advantage in the war. Cat was against this. He never managed or saw the threat Bolton posed. Losing the Frey army and insulting Walder. He was then stupid enough to believe Frey was coming back onside. Cat was wary of the twins. Arrogance and youth killed Robb. He was a terrible king. Cat made errors but Robb brought his demise on himself.

  • @CommanderLongJohn

    @@ben86jones82He listened to his bannermen on multiple occasions though, and in theory sending Theon was a great idea-Balon Greyjoy was seriously the biggest mongoIoid in Westeros for refusing him (purely out of pride because 'a boy hands me a crown?') and initially Theon basically said as much to his dad; he would've firmly been King of the Iron Islands and Theon would've gotten Casterly Rock bestowed upon him thus cementing it in House Greyjoy (thus increasing their wealth and power and status in tenfold), and even more bewildering is the fact Balon actually thought House Lannister and the crown was going to accept him not only being King of the Islands but the NORTH, like yeah they held the Neck but at some point his reign is inevitably ending with his beheading . . So that's not even so much on Robb, he just underestimated how nonsensically proud and stubborn Balon was, and as for his marriage vows-it's alluded to multiple times that Tywin conspired with House Westerling (which becomes blatant after the war when they're immediately pardoned and rewarded), Robb being given some sort of 'potion' or 'drug' (after being pretty seriously wounded by an arrow too) causing him to bed Jeyne Westerling-and like Ned may possibly have done with Ashara Dayne married her to preserve her honor. Not necessarily sticking up for that but if the 'theory' is true then it's not like he consciously and purposely-without any justification whatsoever like in the show-broke his vows to the Freys. As for trusting the Boltons and Freys, what they did was almost unlike anything ever before seen in Westeros, I mean even extinguishing the Reynes and Tarbeks was more honorable and understandable than the Red Wedding ever will be. They broke guest right and slaughtered them like sheep, basically forced Edmure into a marriage, even Cat thought for sure they'd be safe once Walder Frey offered them bread and salt which is something even CRASTER holds sacred . . there's a good reason in the books virtually everybody outside House Frey and Bolton (and some Karstark) is still wroth as fuck about it and 'the North remembers' lol. Robb should've never been King though, and not because he was 'bad' or ill-suited, but had he immediately declare for Stannis *boom* the war is all but won for them and Stannis doesn't see him as a rebel and usurper.

    It was pure stupidity. Cat may give some good counsel but sending a banner man rather then Theon would have been better. Jaime was the most important piece in that war, most of tywins counsel was considered suing for peace after the battle of the whispering wood.

    Jaime didn’t think Tywin would do that. Killing aerys was the best thing he could have done. Could he have subdued him without killing him? Possibly, but aerys intended to burn everyone in that city. Jaime slew the pyromancers and saved half a million. He served the kingdom far better that day. He just didn’t tell stark what aerys was doing out of pride
