I remember this scene really hitting me in the feels when I read it a long while back. It’s so sad that this is the last you see of Jamie and Tyrion interacting in the books. They’re last meeting is that of one brother saving another, only for them to leave with nothing but sadness and resentment by the time they part ways.

What strikes me about how awful this is is that there were plenty of ways Tywin could've gotten rid of Tysha; it'd be easy for him to arrange a convenient "accident". But no, he goes about "punishing" his son and Tysha in the most sadistic way possible. There's a reason why this, and not the extermination of the Reynes and Tarbecks is considered Tywin's Moral Event Horizon

And it makes him bedding Shae even more hypocritical (plus the tunnel to the brothel which is hilariously scummy), it shows how deeply Tywin is filled with self-hate and he needs to be put down.

@@islandboy9381no it doesn't Tywin was simply bedding a whore in secrecy, he wasn't being manipulated by it or loving it so it didn't ruin house Lannister in any way while Tyrion a second son tried marrying a common girl and threatened to have his nephew raped for Shae. The main problem with Tywin is he's lack of emotional support and awareness for his children, I mean he could of just told Tyrion ways to secretly bed whores but his obsession with perception wouldn't allow him to open up not even to his family. And honestly his hatred for Tyrion is kinda justified if you look at thier history.

But it also makes what would possibly be the fate of King’s Landing very ironic. As it was Tywin’s hubris and ego that lead him to do what he did to his own son and first love. He let his own son to believe that he will never be worthy of anything, not even love. He in turn created a monster, someone who would end up destroying the very home he had. In the end, all of Tywin’s plans to help King’s Landing and its people would be for nothing, as he sealed the kingdom’s fate so long ago.

@@kingofdragons7The Red Wedding is a good example of a right choice which is cruel. The way to end what could have been a longer and and bloodier war by killing a couple hundred lords, instead of continuing this continental butchery. Speaking of children, all of Tywin's coercions and abuses were centered around teaching them to be dutiful to their family instead of pursuing their impulsive or self-centered decisions (like marrying peasant girls in case of Tyrion or protesting marital alliances in case of Cersei). And he was so good in instilling this values that Tyrion refuses to tell the truth of Elia's murder to Oberyn even when he is about to be executed by Tywin. In feudalism highborns shouldn't forsake their duties to pursue their desires, because the entire system is about being dutiful. What I am trying to say, is that all of Tywin's decisions are either for the good of the realm (as evidenced by his highly praised service as king's hand from Aerys up to his death) or to secure future for his family. Both motivations are good and righteous, yet he is cruel in its implementation. In my personal opinion, out of all characters Tysha is the only person whom Tywin had no cause to mistreat as brutally as he did. So it's ironic that Tysha actually becomes an indirect cause of his death.

Yeah, some bricks killing Cersei wasn’t enough. I still don’t understand why didn’t Cersei give up the Throne. What made her get the Idea she can have it or even hold it? When Daenery’s showed up with Three Dragons, Dothraki Screamers, and Unsullied. Why didn’t she just surrender the throne and say “hey Im going to Casterly Rock, me and my brother will Rule as Lords Paramount of the West.” Daenerys would have let them. They would be alive and be in their family home. Really weird choice Cersei made. She hates the people. She hates Nobles. She hates everyone.

In the books this is where Tyrion learned the truth and he swore revenge on his family. All of them especially Jamie. That's what the show gets wrong. This scene pushes him over the edge. He has a hard time ever trusting. The only person that softens him is the lady dwarf he performs with. I cannot remember her name right now. To learn from the one person you loved your whole life betrayed you. When you thought you found the one woman who could of loved you. Really did want to marry you. She wasn't a whole just low-born. Then to watch her have sex with all those men. Just to teach u a lesson. Damn that's cold. The whole your brother knew the one person you trusted. Knew the whole time and tells you before you're supposed to die. He saves you yes. But how could you forgive him. All the while you've never told his secret of sleeping with cersi even when nobody suspected. You could of had him killed by king Robert. Him you're father and sister all gone. But you protected them because they are cannister. Damn this is one of the coldest moments in the books.
