It was so pleasant in the old days, friendly, respectful, being called "luv" or 'darling', 'dear', ladies, etc. What paranoiacs bought in this dislike of people being nice to each other? How dare they rebrand polite pleasantries as offensive/hate speech/sexist, or whatever the heck they call it these days.

I first discovered Kim doing a Downton Abbey Comic Relief cameo. Knew nothing about her. But the moment she said Darling and My Love, I immediately liked her. Especially the way in which she says it leaves no room for interpreting it as anything but loving. The girl on this show is, I think, referring to the condescending way men use it to address females where it sounds patronizing and diminishing. Like she’s just a dumb, helpless pretty face with nothing upstairs.
