Misogyny is real in modern medicine and law. A guy like Kanye West who is OBVIOUSLY struggling can legally run for president in the US, while a woman like Britney Spears, who had a nervous breakdown 13 YEARS ago, is still incapacitated and under guardianship, with little to no freedom regarding her medical and financial choices, let alone her career or her own KIDS? And I am positive those two are just the most prominent examples, this seems to be a serious issue. Wtf. Edit: Can y'all chill please. No need to start WW3 here.

I think the main difference has to do with how Britney meltdown was more aggressive. She did lock herself with her son in a bathroom and attacked paparazzi with a umbrella. It was 14 years ago and I do think the conservatorship should be revisited and removed. She is stable and seems to have all her issues under control.

I totally disagree. Kanye has always been outspoken and provocative. Now, everything he does or says that is not pc, means he is unstable. Everything he said was truth, about his family and their decision with North. The Kardashian’s can put all their dirt out there. But, they don’t want to deal with the truth. It happened. Kanye is constantly being oppressed by the Kardashian’s. I’m so sick of people pulling the mental card. It’s offensive. Not everything he says or does is bc of his diagnosis. He said how he felt, he didn’t make it up. The truth can be ugly. But, it’s his story to tell. And I’m sure there is a lot more he has to say about the Kardashian’s.

It seems like everytime Kanye gets problematic, Kim sends him away to Wyoming. And to be honest, I cannot blame her. He refuses to take his meds and even denies to have a mental condition. As a mother, I would NEVER allow that my children grow up witnessing this mess. I am normally not a big fan of Kim's but I have to say that I don't know how she could handle the situation in a better way without divorcing.

I disagree, I mean maybe I didn’t watch the whole thing but he was speaking the truth showing his side of the story and yes he exposed some personal things about his wife and in-laws but it was to make a point. Long story short it seems to me that he disagrees with the way Kris Jenner raised Kim, he doesn’t except her parenting strategies and Kris and Kanye probably but heads a lot. Like any good parent he doesn’t want his kids to go down the same path as Kim. I am a believer in not taking meds, the problem is IN the relationship not HIM as an individual, his mental state is self awareness...he is sane. I would rather know these things about Kim and Kris than not know...so thank you Kanye.

Shallon!!! Best advice. I just broke it off with a funny, hot, educated, successful guy who will not address his alcoholism and recently told me he is starting his own religion. Not good. I spent a week marinating on what to say to him after a recent incident and told him in an empathetic, healthy manner that I think he needs to talk to someone. His reaction? Rage followed by not returning any texts. Disappeared. And I have felt guilty for weeks - sometimes falling apart, crying, worried I was too harsh. But he previously told me upfront that he would never marry me, and that I’d have to follow him wherever he decided to move....you’re so right! Why feel so guilty and pour all this emotional effort into a problematic guy who invested NOTHING in me? And we ain’t kids - I’m 36, and he’s 40. I feel way less guilty.

You were vulnerable in a way I don't think I've seen you be before and its inspired me to accept things about myself that I keep avoiding: weight issues and why I don't continue down the path to get to the weight I want to be in. Your reasoning for yours is very similar to mine. Also, I am proud of you for taking the medication to get better so often we feel ashamed to admit that we can't do it all on our own. The choice to end a pregnancy early when it came at a time where we can’t give our kids our best version of ourselves? How many of us have been in this position as Kanye? Or we are just dismissing his words as “crazy” because he happens to be diagnosed with a mental illness? And if that’s the case, how many of us have talked to a psychiatrist lately? Last year? Denisse Gonzalez Villegas I think we can do better as Women. Firstly, by teaching our girls how to not get pregnant in the first place or to have sexual intercourse, safely and responsibly. It dies my just come to us. We make it happen. The point you make about dismissing someone’s experience and opinion because they are diagnosed with a mental illness is spot on in my opinion. A “mental illness” is a “state of mind” and that can change. Within an “episode” also. It’s lazy thinking to say someone has nothing @sane” to say because they are “mentally ill”. How many of the millions of people, who have been given a label, have had a brain scan? It’s like a heart DR guessing what is wrong with your heart just by listening to the beat. Most “mentally ill” people are just coping with difficult situations. The language we use amongst a long list of other things needs to change surrounding mental health.

I haven’t watched this fully yet, but the question of should we stay or leave is so complicated. My ex boyfriend was an unmedicated bipolar. I made the decision to leave him after he tried to knock my head off with pole, and he bashed himself in the head repeatedly once I locked myself in the bedroom. This incident was the first blowup. He spit in my face, yelled at me numerous times, tried to swallow a bunch of pills, tried cutting his wrist. It wasn’t until I looked in his eyes and saw that his blue eyes were completely black, that I decided to leave. I checked him into the hospital, stayed with him while he was treated and remained his friend until the end. Then, I put myself and my well being first. Now, he was a just boyfriend and we have no kids or mutual friends. We are talking about a marriage with 4 babies under the age of 10. Kim is no stranger to divorce, so I can see her taking that route sooner rather than later. This whole notion of “sticking with your man” is really tricky and can be one-sided. If the opposite was happening (Kim was ranting and being erratic), there would be no “stick with your woman”. It’s almost as if men have more of a license to be ill and women are supposed to stick with them and be ride or dies. It’s so problematic.

Everyone is saying that Kanye needs help, and I get it, but at the same time we need to remember that this man has been praised so much that his ego is high and Kim herself likes to call it “he’s just passionate about things “, if still had this behavior when they got married and she still had kids with him, all these things are just encouraging that behavior, he literally lives in a world where everyone supports what he does, this man believes that he is right because people around him have given him the push, it’s ok to be honest to your loved ones and tell them when they’re wrong. I saw the video of the rally and I’m disgusted, WHY ARE PEOPLE APPLAUDING HIM? He is literally going crazy and you are praising him? He should have gotten an intervention the day he stopped Taylor on stage, he actually believes he has that amount of power because he has been pushed to believe so.

But after all this years I still feel guilty for not staying because she really meant a lot to me. I knew I would hurt her if I leave her and I did... That hurts me too but at the same time it was a relief. I feel so selfish for saying it like this but at that time nobody wanted her around and I just thought she was misuderstood (like kim thinks about kanye).

I know you had gotten some criticism for speaking harshly about mental illness in the past and I think it speaks VOLUMES that you 1. actually said (I think on reddit?) that you were going to change the way you spoke about mental illness and 2. that you are following through on that. It shows a lot of character and how much of a class act you are.

People are deemed 'crazy' when their illness has a physical cause and then they lose it on social media which makes everything a million times worse....what a world! Get well Kanye xx

I've listened and supported him in every thing that he confessed to me. I had hopes we would be more intimate, but it was just a classic move of "you owe me this". He never asked me how I was or if I was needing something. When i confronted him of how sick i was of not being treated with reciprocity, he had the guts to say "I've never promised you I'd be reciprocal". That was the last straw for me. it probably sounds so dumb, but back in march i started having serious issues with feeling like i couldn't breathe and my heart was racing all day. i was spending 95% of my day laying down because i literally could not function. when i went to the doctor they said they thought i was having major anxiety issues. ive always been an anxious person, but never to the point where it was unbearable or interfered with my life in any significant way. i was so resistant to the idea of taking meds because i thought i could handle it the way i always have....meditation, exercise, vegging out on the couch lol....turns out i could not. the pandemic really threw my anxiety into hyper drive for some reason (my guess is i often "avoided" feeling anxious by constantly moving and going places, then i couldn't do that) and my doctor said he's seen it happen to a lot of people recently. long story short, i feel so much better on meds and if you're in a similar situation with any mental issue, just know that you aren't alone. it can be scary, but if you have a doctor/psychologist you trust, take their advice. there is no shame in taking care of yourself ❤.

My friend just sent me this video and first time watching your stuff -going on 4 years with my boyfriend and in the last year have started to come to terms that this is where I’m at.. he’s dealing with addictions and Bipolar/mental health issues and he’s not doing anything to make changes. Thank you for touching on this subject in such a lighthearted and loving way. I laughed and cried throughout the video with recognition of all this in my life. Thank you!

If anyone is struggling and watching this channel, they clearly have access to the internet so they could simply google a local hotline/helpline.

It's all fun and games from a distance, and yes they can probably afford monetarily to minimise any discomfort or pain even if it's emotional... but as the sister of two brothers two have psychotic disorders... my god it's hard to love them some days. And no, I am not saying mentally ill people can't be loved or are hard to love. I'm saying when someone refuses treatment for their illness and lets it affect their family even when they see others are in pain, that is really difficult to take and stomach no matter how much you love them. If someone is actually trying, that's a whole different ballgame. Kanye is clearly not trying.

Realllyyy needed this video right now. I had been seeing an old friend of mine throughout quarantine who is basically an addict. He was addicted to coke 6 years ago when Iast knew him. He's now a really bad binge drinker who also over eats if he thinks he's not going to be able to drink as much as he wants to for whatever reason. When he's sober, he's sweet, sooo funny, a really good cook, bought me lots of flowers and little presents. He's a smart guy and works as an electrician. Also drop dead gorgeous. But when he drinks, he turns nasty (not violent but verbal) and he's also been in 2 violent relationships before. His first ex slashed him across the eye with a piece of glass so he's scarred for life. The 2nd ex stabbed him in the thigh, narrowly missing an artery. He's always said to me how nice I am. How he's never met a girl who makes him laugh so much. How no other woman has listened to him and suported him like I have. Sex was great too. But yes, unfortunately he turns when he's drunk and has openly said he doesn't want to stop living how he does. Won't entertain the thought of therapy or even taking a painkiller for a headache (I think he has depression that perhaps medication could help him with). So I ended it 2 weeks ago. He's since sent me further nasty messages when he's been drunk. So I've ignored and blocked him. It's a shame, as he openly admits he's got a lot of unresolved trauma from his childhood but also openly admits he'll probably never get help.

A week later he called to tell me he made his 1st therapy appt, wants to be healthier for me and for himself, and asked me to dinner. I think I was the one thing keeping him from hitting rock bottom. Letting him go not only protected my peace, it made him take responsibility for his health. Happy to share that.
