And you are going to need that seat belt for this live performance. OMG, I am glad you decided to react to this! She has such a great, powerful, blues-filled voice. When I think of Kiki Dee, this how I hear her. I am now feeling "funky" and "good" this Sunday night. Thank you! I knew the guitar would blow you away too. I figured "Heart" and those Wilson sisters were too well known, and that you were familiar with their work. You've already heard what they did on the Kennedy Center Awards for Led Zeppelin. Also, a little less well known, there was a CMT show called Crossroads. It featured pairing rock and country voices together. The episode with Heart and Wynonna Judd was amazing. Just imagine how good they were, and it was even better.

Thanks again for this Chad. I'm still coming back to listen. OMG I loved, and still love, this. 70's music was so diverse and filled with excellence. Kiki is a prime example. The energy, and that powerhouse voice still gets me up and moving.

Loved your reaction to this Chad, you looked well impressed. Kiki Dee has been touring throughout the UK and the continent for the past 25 years and celebrated 55 years in the business a couple of years ago. What a powerful voice she had and i would imagine she still has it. What an electric performance this is. And yes it certainly makes you sing along and get that head moving. Great choice. Thanks for the weekend Chad! X

I didn't expect this at all either. I was shocked at this absolutely amazing, rockin', banger - Kiki's vocals and stage presence and all the instruments! I'm not all that used to seeing and hearing a lead female singer rock like that, but I'm here for it! It was all absolutely 🔥 - the perfect song to put the music in you! I loved your reaction! I agree. This is the perfect song with which to end the marathon! I look forward to next weekend's marathon!

Kiki started out in the early 60s doing session work ( Dusty Springfield among others) she released some great 45s, I think she has released 6-7 albums. She also wrote Sugar On The Floor which Etta James made her own. Kiki is still working around the UK.

Seems like a fairly small intimate setting where this was recorded. Where was it???? She sure could sing. So many great female artists can rock, play instruments, write and perform equally with the boys. Powerful voices like Dusty Springfield, Janis, Jackie deShannon, Linda Ronstadt, Annie Lennox, Tina Turner, Gloria Estafon, Cass Elliot, Brenda Lee and others. You've touched on a couple of them. They often get overlooked more so than the guys.

Kiki was a backing singer for Dusty way back when.

Looking for more like this from the 70s try Stone The Crows with Maggie Bell or maybe Vinegar Joe with Elkie Brooks

Don't feel bad, this is a WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY overlooked song on all of YT. Two more female fronted bands were Scandal with Patty Smyth (Goodbye to You), and Quarterflash with Rindy Ross (Find Another Fool) who also plays the sax, so Live with that song would work. I'll make it easy on you, why not: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m3yK1bajiNPJlKw.html

Chad, thought you might enjoy this compilation of clips of the Righteous Brothers. They were regulars on a prime time tv show, geared to teens. It was called Shindig. Interesting to see the Brothers let loose. Singing with The Blossoms, the Shindig dancers and all the screaming teens! ❤ Enjoy!kzread.info/dash/bejne/q2Z5mLeimrKulc4.htmlsi=o8MOArpNIFDsHBUC

The reason some people can't believe this is the same person that sang Don't go breaking my Heart is pretty simple. This is a gritty funk/rock song and she knocks it out of the park! The song with Elton was not. It was a fluffy sugar coated piece of forgettable pop music!

Is there any chance you would react to Ann-Margret's live song-and-dance cover of this song on the Johnny Carson Show? It's on KZread with the title "Ann-Margret's Unforgettable Performance" (the video has Johnny Carson interviewing her first, then she performs the song).

Okay, I have tried twice to request Heart's "Alone." Not sure why it keeps disappearing. Also - anything from Pat Benatar.
