The kid and dad are discussing how to beat the record. Dad wants to web the armpits for more lift and hang time and wants to fine tune the speed of the boat for best launch angle. The kid wants a helmet, more padding and a mouthpiece.

I grew up in an inner city suburb so most of my fun-time memories as a pre teen involve impacts with concrete. Asfalt was a little softer but then you usually had more speed since you were probably out on a road at that point. Also some minor shoplifting. Living in the countryside now and they hate me.

Man, an entire generation of kids were brought up being absolutely PUNISHED by their dads and uncles on these tubes! My big toe nail got ripped off once when my uncle cornered his jet boat somewhere between 50 MPH and Mach 1 while towing me on a tube! I cried, he laughed, and I was tougher afterwards! Good old fashioned character building stuff here!

We call waves lined up in a row outside of the wake a “graveyard.” The challenge is to give a good ride with causing injury. Every dad has experienced the following scenario. Kids say, “don’t throw us off.” No problem. After about 5 minutes the kids act bored and pretend to be sleeping on the tube. Then mom says “get ‘em!” Then the driver speeds up, hits waves, tosses the kids off, kids cry and say “why did you do that?”…… then they ask for another ride.

Oh man I miss doing things like this. My dad used to tow us into this little cove on the local lake and start doing circles in the cove and the waves would start bouncing back off the shore and meeting back in the middle and they'd get MASSIVE. I've been thrown in the air like this more times then I can count and it was fun as hell. We didn't have a visit inner tube like that, we just had those little circular ones that could carry 2 people each hanging off a side.

Called a double up wakeboarded for years. Run a straight line swing out and turn and drive straight back into the wake you just made. The wake from the straight line and the wake that you are making when they meet will make the wakes merge. Look up how to make a double up wake. Wakeboarding you hit the second or 3rd double up you will get huge air 3rd is hard to hit

We hit the wake and went monster Airborne then went inverted about 15 feet up. While we were inverted my partner gets ejected straight down into the water. Losing all that weight, I flipped right side up and landed. After we circled back to pick his son up out of the water he was beat up pretty bad. We had to take him back into shore. It was awesome!

I hate that tube. Don't get me wrong the weight is all in the back and allows for a wild ride. But the couch section holds you in so well that there is no way you are falling off of that thing. I got bored after a while and let go and even then it took a bit to throw me off. My favorite ones are the small flat tubes. It's got to be just the right size where it feels stable to ride in a straight line, but as soon as you start going sideways and skipping over waves it becomes a balancing act just I stay on the tube.

When I was about 7 or 8, I was tubing with my aunt and my brother who was about 3 or 4. We hit a massive wave and we all were flung in the air. My brother and my aunt hut heads. My brother was fine, but my aunt’s head was so,it open and she had to have it glued together.

This makes me remember a time when I was tubing on Table Rock Lake in Missouri and the exact same thing happened to me, except I pulled a scorpion mid-air and nearly broke my spine

I remember being pulled by my dad with his jetski and hit a wave that sent me and the tube like 20 feet up…it was windy that day and I loved it.

My dad and my friends dad found a way where if you drive the boat in a figure 8 shape then there are VERY tall square waves, it's almost impossible to stay in the tube

I grew up in a Mormon congregation in Utah and during my latter adolescence, we had this awesome bodybuilding mailman for a bishop. I guess he'd be really frugal despite having a huge home and five kids and made a lot of solid investments because, for a couple summers, he brought a motorboat to the parish water party at a reservoir. We'd don full-face crash helmets and life vests then he'd drag six of us on two massive tubes behind his boat with wicked fury. We had "tube wars" and would try to jump on one another's tubes to throw people off and the victorious side would get double iced cream for a reward. We had to stop though after gas prices skyrocketed, the housing market collapsed, and one of my friends bucked another kid in the head when we hit the boat's wake...causing him to black out and topple into the water. It was awesome but, after that kid's mom menaced bishop with a possible lawsuit, he went back just to a single tube...still fun but, not as much as it used to be.

i have a several interesting tubing memories. my feet touched my head once. i was not a flexible 13 year old and i already had back issues, so that sucked. another time, my dads friend was pulling THREE tubes at once. 10 kids. 3 person flat tubes. dude was going stupidly fast, making whirlpools, and hitting VERY sharp turns. my tube flipped onto another one and i was the only one who held on. he skipped us like rocks. looking back, how did anyone think that was a good idea? 🤨

Driver is everything in these circumstances. Theres a fun way to catch big air and a super dangerous way. Hitting at super high speeds is the dangerous way.

One of my funniest memories with my friends growing up was getting launched from the tube and cart wheeling across the water. Kids need wild experiences, it's what makes life worth living
