I’m in Thailand right now and I’m from the states (nj) and the weather is probably the best you can train in to get conditioning right. When it comes to fighting you will never find a more passionate area for the art of fighting. Tiger stadium in Phuket (was there last night for a fight) and it’s truly amazing. The passion from the locals and the fighters are amazing. Every single fighter has respect for one another. After each fight the fighters bow and thank each other. Some even go to the opposite corner and the coach gives the opposition a glass of water. Truly spectacular.

I have been here since I was 21 (2002) and teach English and P.E. to high schoolers in Khon Kaen currently and save as many street dogs as I can (22 currently) I agree with you and I have many nice students but the boxers are always the most respectful, modest, and will never see them bully anyone. I speak fluent Thai and pretty good cook and my little pipe dream would be to start a training center catered specifically for UFC fighters of any level who can come to train and basically cater to their needs as I know(as you do) how to get exactly what they want/need without all the possible misunderstanding or wasted time/Monet if they only have an allocated time. Thought about this for past five years and now seems even more relevant. Have fun and let's start a business. One can only dream.

@@lytaavbl4223 KZread is anonymous and that's a good thing. People can tell truths without someone thinking they are embellishing or full of shit. Not that difficult to move to Thailand and find a place to live. It has most of the comforts of the US at a 1/3, maybe 1/2 now the price(years ago cheaper everything and salaries have not gone up) I work five hours to pay my rent and pay about 7% income tax. Not much different, but the government here doesn't spend all our tax dollars on fighting wars with enemies they created themselves. No shame in living in a basement playing video games though, that sounds pretty nice actually. Just don't hurt or burden anyone and you are doing better than some/many. BTW my moms making lasagna tonight, you in? : )

@owen. I’m here for 2 more days. I am heading back to Phuket tomorrow. I went to koh yao yai for a couple of days. I was interested in coming back in a year or 2 for a longer time (im here 10 days.) and maybe get about a 2-3 week training done here and just see the deeper meaning of Muay Thai. Yes you can learn it in the states but there is a much deeper respect here and you can see it just by viewing the fights.

@@beenrue5672 Thanks for the concern "BEEN" but I've trained Muay Thai for a decade. All my training partners and coaches have made a trip over for an intensive camp just to get to the roots of the martial art we love. Not about winning or losing, taking selfies, getting in shape or going chasing a title. I want to go because I love the martial art, I've always wanted to visit that country, experience the culture and test myself. Also alot of gyms over there offer programs for foreigners like me to come do a quick camp. That's what I mean. I'm not out here trying to get the Tiger scholarship or move over there and compete in the stadiums.

Tbf kyokushin got low roundhouse kicks from MT. Traditional karate didnt have roundhouse kicks, much less roundhouse kicks with the shin, and japanese karate used the ball of the foot for roundhouse kicks. Kyokushin probably got their kicks from japanese kickboxing, which was started when a japanese karate master started training his students in MT to have an effective full-contact fighting base, and then teamed up with a boxing promoter to hold martial arts fights.
