I think how they would bring him back is as Superior Iron Man from an alternate universe, where he became a power hungry hero who sells extremis to people as a drug and is a villain. Would be interesting to twist the audiences love of RDJ Tony and show them a side of Tony that is not very likable.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like Feige is playing coy with it. I wouldn't doubt that they've at least talked to RDJ about returning for Kang Dynasty and/or Secret Wars. I think part of it too is because the actor strike is going on announcing "hey, this actor is going to be working with us again" wouldn't exactly be in good taste. We're still like 3-5 years out on Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars anyways (right now about 3 years, but with strike delays and the MCU continuing to slow down on content output and such, I can see it being pushed at least another year or two), so conversations have probably happened and they may even be working on contract details for the 2 movies, but I don't think they'll say anything about it one way or the other for at least another couple years, giving them time to get closer to the next Avengers movies and time to get out of the Chapek era and such to help them determine how soon they would need to make that announcement.

They should just close the book on the OG Avengers. Brainstorm some other ideas. Doesn’t make any sense. Seems like a desperate move from Marvel.

It's the Skywalker Syndrome. Star Wars can't exist without a connection to the Skywalker saga to get people excited. It's now the Stark Syndrome. The new MCU can't function without the old Tony Stark. A bit sad on both fronts.

I think that the primary mindset that Kevin Feige originally had was to move on from Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans, however given the rocky 4 years they’ve had after Endgame I think it’s made him reconsider that, I still don’t think we’re at the point where he’ll cave in and do it, I still think the downward spiral would need to go on for another 4 or 5 years for him to officially get that desperate, but I do think that as of right now he’s putting that idea in his back pocket to possibly use later

I'm really truly trying to think of how to bring RDJ's Tony Stark back without it seeming like a desperate attempt to win back fans (momentarily) - what's the end goal then? He's not getting any younger and neither is any of the other OG's. And then what? Get rid of them again when they're truly too old to play their characters in their prime? It doesn't make any sense.

In a word, Multiverse. In more than 1 word, the mainline RDJ Iron Man stays dead, but because we're in the Multiverse Saga they can have an Iron Man played by RDJ show up for only 1 or 2 appearances in things like Kang Dynasty and/or Secret Wars, since those stories are literally about the Multiverse colliding with itself, and then that would be it. If you don't like that they could have a non-physical form show up as like the AI for the Ironheart suit or whatever like he was in the comics for a bit, but because of the real world stuff going on with actors being digitally inserted into movies and AI and everything that probably wouldn't be the best way to go about it.

@@lordofninjas1 I could definitely see a multiverse appearance yea! Although I wonder if people are getting tired of the multiverse. If they do it right and smart I’m sure it’ll be fine. If it were up to me though I’d look at a full reboot of the avengers actors. I’d love to see that.

@@salvador75 I don't think people are necessarily getting tired of the Multiverse itself, I think it's more people getting tired of most things in the Multiverse Saga not having much of anything to do with the Multiverse, as well as some quality and release speed issues which Marvel is working on fixing. You're looking for a reboot, thing is with them doing the Multiverse stuff leading into Secret Wars that does essentially indicate a reboot, more of a softer reboot, but still a reboot nonetheless.

Bringing these characters back will destroy the MCU quicker then the current phase

What do yall expect? He's not just gonna say that they are bringing RDJ back. Personally i think the mcu is just trying to replicate the no way home situation where they kinda leak the reutrn of a legacy character but not say it on somebody's face

The only way they could bring back Iron Man without it being absolutely terrible would be either a small role or a one off movie surrounding some kind of multiverse situation. Bringing back *OUR* Tony Stark is not something I want to see.

We don't know yet, but it was like a year or two ago that something came out saying that she was going to be producing something for the MCU or something like that. We probably would have found out this year at Comic Con or D23, but their events at both of those this year were canceled because of the strikes.

It’s actually against the law to bring back dead characters. They have to stay dead. 😂😂😂😂

If this comes from the interview he did at The Marvels fan event, then I did watch it. He seemed out of it. His many years training to speaking without saying anything really got him through it.

I mean what else would he say though? RDJ is the biggest name in that company for them to bring back. Why would they straight up say ” Yes the rumours are true, RDJ is coming back ” ? Like it makes zero sense.

Robert Downey Jr. is coming back to the MCU everybody knows it and Captain America/Chris Evans will be back in the MCU those are the two guys I’ve always known they will be back in the MCU he never said no so you know for a fact that it’s going to happen eventually

Personally, I do not want to see the dead characters coming back. We saw a body, so he is dead. Now, since we are in the Multiverse Saga, if RDJ does come back, I feel he shouldn't play 616 Tony Stark, since he is dead. I feel he should play a Stark from a different universe. That is, IF RDJ is to come back. Keep 616 Tony Stark... dead.

Variety is very well established and famous plus dont you think there is a separate division at marvel which just reads news to fill in on what do ppl think abt marvel?

If he comes back, RDJ about to get a 20 million dollar paycheck for whopping 10 minutes of screentime. Or he could return fully which I don't think will be the case.

It will take Downey and Evans coming back to breach 1 Billion at the box office.

I doubt that would help, the issue with Marvel movies is that they are terribly written. Bringing these two back and putting them in a poorly written movie would give a small initial bump, but would immediately return to the toilet. They need to fix the writing first.

I dont think bringing him back undermines Endgame now that there is no singular continuity. I think some of you are still married to the idea of what is and isnt canonical in what is now a multiverse. Dead in one continuity, alive in another. Maybe its RDJ, maybe Tom Cruise. Who knows.

Why is he still trying to be cute by lying it was fun when nwh happened its annoying now. Just say it yes or no or were thinking about it
