she did write the song but she loved how Demi sang her song so much that she gave her rights. that's saying allot right there. they both sing it so well. They both are amazing in different ways. There is no need to put one artist down to praise another, though i see how frustrating it is to read all the negative comments about Kerli. NO Kerli does not sing it better and NO Demi doesn't either. They both sing it with emotion and i am amazed at their talents and voices. BOTH are amazing :) that is all lol

Also people failing to recognize the original artist is wrong. i never said it was right. I think you might have misunderstood my comment somehow, or else you would have just agreed that "both sing it with emotion and i am amazed at their talents and voices. BOTH are amazing :)" which was my point. unless you disagree. which is just your opinion and everyone is entitled to it :)

^That's actually what Kerli herself said. She said she thought it suited Demi's situation and voice better so she just gave her the rights. She literally said that she herself, had no business singing it. I think she shows more emotion than Demi. But Demi's more dramatic about it (if that makes sense). At least she did record it though. Alot of artists write songs and the lyrics are so amazing but they never get around or feel the need to record them.

I adore both versions dont get me wrong, But KERLI did write the song. It has a special meaning to her as it did to DEMI. They both related with different situations, and they both have different styles. It cracks me up how most ppl, especially those who CANNOT sing are always comparing two different styles. If you are a good singer you understand dynamics, and know that these are both great versions. Simply because you respect other styles and singers. Love both versions!

I agree, I personally connect more with Kerli's version. I can sing a bit I never got lessons. I just really love Kerli's voice more than Demi. Both are great singers, But I feel like I can relate more to the voice of Kerli becuase I can sing more like her than I can Demi.

Kerli's version is more piercing to me. I think she should've kept the song for herself.

Pink wrote Adam Lambert's Whataya Want From Me. Sia wrote Rihanna's Diamonds. Linda Perry wrote Christina Aguilera's Beautiful. And so on and so forth.

Cíntia Lira Absolutely: They each have their charms and faults, which is what I also say to those who INSIST on comparing Kerli and Lady Gaga.

Kerli's version is ethereal and Demi's is more haunting because of the emotion she emits. The song itself is amazing and the meaning behind it hits close to home for me. An amazing song written by an extremely unique and talented human being, officially sung by an equally unique and talented human being.

I love both of them. I heard Demi's version before I had even heard of Kerli at all, and I was pleasantly surprised when I found out Kerli wrote it. Honestly, they each make the song their own and they both sing it exceptionally well, with great emotion.

She sold the song to Demi's label, and I'm sure she got paid royalties from its sales.. The song wouldn't have gotten anywhere near as much exposure if this woman had held on to the song instead of selling it.

nathanb53 Actually she didn't get anything from selling this song. Her managers lied to her and told that she didn't have any money and wasted all without her knowing of it. It's a sad story and now she has ended her deals with these managers

I love Kerli. But I like Demi too. This is taken from Wikipedia. Awesome song written by Kerli 👏🙂, I think it was the right move to have DEMI sing it , her voice has a rough edge tone made the lyrics stand out. Kerli voice is more softer tone . Both did a great job 👍

This is just a personal opinion, I respect Demi and Kerli both. But Kerli wrote this piece. It came from her mind, her heart, and her hand. So for me there is a genuine window to what she's feeling. It gives this song so much more emotion. Demi's cover of this was fantastic. She can relate to it incredibly well no doubt, and there is emotion, but I do not think it is as direct or deep as this song is to the one who wrote it. :3

Not hating here... but reading these comments... Does anyone realize the last person to sing in this song IS Demi. Demi and Kerli are actually friends. Both are good, I perfer Kerli more as she is my favorite artist, but I like Demi's as well.

@@srevil6434Just because a song is good doesn't mean it's gonna be a hit. There have been thousands of amazing songs that never got very famous, and that's because the media controls everything. Kerli has had some minor hits, but because she's never had the media exposure that demi's had, she never would've had a chance with this song. I love demi, but I also recognize that mainstream audiences listened to this song because demi was famous due to being a former disney star, and the scandal at the time gave her the perfect opportunity to release a song like this and have it be a huge hit, because the media was all over it. Kerli was only mildly famous and had no scandals going on at the time, so the media wasn't talking about her at all and therefore mainstream audiences would've had no exposure to the song had kerli released it. I've been observing the music industry enough to know how these things work.

STOP HATING! Demi and Kerli are both beautifully talented girls. It doesn't matter what their different strengths and weaknesses are, they're amazing just the way they are. Kerli wrote the song and decided to give it to Demi because she loved Demi's voice and emotions on it. Just leave the girls alone.

I love how Kerli sings this song. The inflection in her voice and the whispering makes it seem more genuine. Personally, I don't nerve Demi's version has as much heart in it. But it's a cover, and a cover will never have as much emotion put into it as the original singer telling their story. I'm not trashing Demi Lovato's singing, I just like this version better.

Eventhough I like this version, I think Kerli gave the song to the right person. It’s a beautiful song, regardless of which version you prefer.

Everything about Kerli shines with goddess-like beauty, and this song is no exception

I appreciate that some songs can be performed by some artists exceedingly well but for me I have complete admiration for singer/songwriters and who, I feel, can express their music in a way other singers can only hope to equal. I love Demi's version almost as much as I do Kerli's and now we have a new more powerful version by Sam Bailey that will hit the charts soon - watch out for it and look out America, she's coming your way.

She did it so she can tell people they're not alone and to inspire them and prove it does get better. She's dealt with more than the average person. And like I said she doesn't just make pop music, and you obviously haven't heard her emotional ballads. They're really touching.

They BOTH rock! No one is better than the other. But I personally love Demi's.

animallover5626 By any chance did you hear her take on Somewhere Over The Rainbow? I grew weary of the song but she made it worth hearing again. The other two to do the same with that song were Kermit the Frog's nephew Robin and the Master of the Macabre, Vincent Price.

havent heard this song in a long time but after listening to demis take and Kerli's original take i will say that i like Kerli's better simply because it is more powerful as in she has been hurt but she is fighting back whilst demis is mainly just hurt but slowly getting that i can take it feel. love both versions but as a song about rising above everything ill have to give it to kerli

I like Kerli's demo and Demi's released version but, I wish I could hear Jordin Sparks' demo. She has background vocals on Demi's version.

I think people "like" the other version better because it's sung much more "conventionally". That and people probably heard this one last. Lovati has an average-good voice. But there is something that sets this one over the edge, and I think it's the tone of her voice and the simplicity of it.

I love Kerli and she did an incredible job writing this song, but Demi's version has more passion and she did it justice so Kerli should be happy that she gave it to her.
