KENYA: INCIDENT ON BRITISH AIRWAYS 747 AIRCRAFT

An apparently deranged passenger broke into the cockpit of a British Airways flight early
Friday and grabbed the controls, sending the Boeing 747 into two violent nosedives before the crew regained control.
Passengers screamed and prayed aloud as the man, described by witnesses as tall, strong and hysterical, launched his assault on the cockpit during the flight from London to Nairobi.
He eventually was wrestled down, and the plane carrying 379 passengers and 19 crew landed safely in Nairobi at 10:10 a.m local time. (0710 GMT).
A number of passengers were believed to have suffered relatively minor injuries, and five people were taken to a hospital.
The man, whom police here identified only as a 27-year-old Kenyan, was arrested.
Among those reported to have been on board were Lady Annabel Goldsmith, the widow of late billionaire businessman Sir James Goldsmith, her daughter Jemima Khan, the wife of former cricketer Imran Khan, and the singer Bryan Ferry.
Jemima Khan is reported to have been travelling with her two young sons.

He eyewitnessed the hell out of that incident
A man damn near killed almost 400 people intentionally, and his home country just lets him go about his business as usual afterwards. And offers him 'treatment'.
A shame they didn't think of preventing passengers entering the cockpit after this incident. It would have prevented 9/11.
Thank God Bryan survived!

Francis Bagbey this was before 911, it was not mandatory, nor common for cockpit doors to be locked during flight

MrStig691 Not as high as they are after 9/11. Before it, cockpits were easier to breach heck you was allowed to carry on small knives... How crazy is that

They were descending at 30,000 feet per minute, starting from 42,000 feet. This realistically probably only lasted several seconds to a minute, but felt like an eternity.
