Kenny Rogers was the best vocal story teller. His voice has an overwhelming emotionally expressive tone quality. Over a 63 yr career. Watch his amazing biography. He was raised in poverty. Became a huge mega star with The Gambler Album & song. A huge cross over artist Country, Pop, R & B, psychodelic, gospel music. He was loved by everyone Globally. He was a really good man. He helped organize Feed Africa We Are The World song & huge talent session event fundraiser with major talents of the 80's. His songs had weekly TV movies. He was in a variety of bands. He even had his own tv show. Jimi Hendrix loved his Band First Edition 1st album Just Dropped In. Check out Just Dropped In, Coward of the County, She Believes in Me, You Decorated My Life, Ruby, Coward of the County, Don't Fall In Love with a Dreamer, Lady, Islands In The Stream.

I learned something for a fact today that I had believed for quite some time. Today you completely confirmed it. You care very much about your fans. If it's important to us, it becomes important to you. Even more than that, the undeniable respect and admiration you have for the pioneers of music is both amazing and essential to anyone that is a true lover of music. It's one think to appreciate a good beat or melody. But you get to know the artist through the songs that become their legacy. Thank you for your respect, sincerity, authenticity. You're genuinely an amazing individual.

Kenny and Dolly Parton did a cover called, "Love is Strange," and Dolly makes a reference to his voice, that you would enjoy. Yes this song is very catchy and when we went to his concert, when he came to the Chorus, he would stop and let the crowd sing it. It was awesome. You picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille. And with this song the country portion of his career started.

Sushi - You do some of the best review reactions. Another artist who died too soon was Joey Feek. Just do a youtube search for Joey and Rory. She gave birth to her only child and then found out she had cancer a few months later just as her and her husbands singing career was really taking off. She died less than a year later. Joey and Rory put out some of the best music (some with some good sas in it also). Back to Kenny, my wife Vicky and I went to an outdoor concert featuring Kenny Rogers about 20 years ago. It was one of the most amazing experiences ever. Every song he performed was actual song back to him by the fans in the crowd. Seeing 7000 people singing an artist song back to him was amazing. We will miss you Kenny. God speed you on your journey.

This song came out while I was living in Africa for a few years. It was amazing how all of the locals learned and sang the song, even though most of them didn't know a word of English. The song just really resonated with them that much, even though it was Africa instead of the U.S. They understood perfectly the idea of breaking up with four hungry children and a crop that needed harvesting.

In the Army I was a tanker and one time we were all bored and telling jokes over the intercom and for some reason I started singing this song with different words related to our Tank. The chorus was something like "You picked a fine time to leave me road wheel, five million commies and they're right on our heels..." we laughed and later on I could hear someone singing that line in the middle of the night on guard duty. Kenny Rogers songs were always on the Jukeboxes and was always selected several times a night.

Lady, She Believes in Me, If I Were a Painting, and Sweet Music Man are all songs you should react to next. Kenny was so special...I’m so glad that I was fortunate enough to get to see him a long time ago with my grandma. He seemed like such a sweet genuine man. He will be dearly missed. 🙏💙

Aww, that was Crystal Gayle coming out there at the end. Sounded like she was going to sing "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue". Talk about great voices.

I'm sitting hear tearing up. I can't believe we've lost The Gambler. Thank you Sushi for honoring Kenny like this.

Music was so simple and good back then. I miss this - his music was part of my childhood.

Coward of the County; Ruby, don't take your love to town. He did duets with Dottie West, Sheena Easton and Dolly Parton. He sang and starred in movies like The Gambler and The Six Pack. I actually love the title song from that movie.

Im now 48 years old. Was 6 when this song came out. When I was little up until I was in my teens I sang this song "With 400 Childrern and a crop in the field". Just like Frankie Valli's "My eyes adore you" I sang for the longest time "My eyes of Georgia", now why Georgia had eyes I don't know.

Oh man...You all gotta go back to when a young Kenny was in the First Edition too..."Ruby" and "Just dropped in (To see what condition my condition was in)" ...Just as much part as his legacy as any of his solo stuff.

"We've Got Tonight" is a nice love ballad as well as "Lady" which was written by Lionel Richie.

See if you can find a video of him doing a song called "Ruby don't take your love to town." It from the late 1960's about a wounded Vietman veteratin.
