    thank goodness a few still make it up in that river. Hopefully the king fishery comes back. In teh past one of my friends has landed 6 huge kings over 50 pounds and in 2017 one of my buddies got one 86 pounds. It was the largest, and probably still is, that was caught since 2010

    I fished the Kenai in July 1997 with Gary ‘Big Dog’ Lindstrom..and did the same thing, fishing for Reds from the bank at Gary’s camp, just upstream from Big Eddy…15 minutes, and a long downstream run and retrieve later,I was able to land mine, with help from Gary’s camp help..43lbs on their scale

    Wow, what a rush that would have been! If there is anything that wants you to get your hook back into the water its something like that. Slayed 4 Silvers, 3 at Rotary Park the day before. Good times!! Keep it up Ryan.

    Nice fish for sure! The other day by redoubt I hooked into a spawner about 40lbs. Fought it for about 15 minutes almost got spooled and thankfully it came off. Lots of kings in the river right now hopefully the king drought will end soon. Great video and as always love watching your videos my man keep grinding and tales up🤙.

    Fly into Anchorage Alaska and drive South to Soldotna or fly from Anchorage to Kenai. The river runs right through our town.

    Nice that was epic. I’ve only seen 1 other person hook into a king from the bank,,,,, a young kid at swiftwater got a nice little 14 lbs chrome r fought it for 35-40 minutes lol let it go cause no one knew if he could keep it. It was that yr they first made it illegal to keep but only if within a certain length. Oh well, I’ve seen them porpus at swift, great vid bud

    It's rare indeed these days to hookup a giant like this, especially from the bank! Ive had hookups before but NEVER have I seen so many awesome jumps out of the water. SOOOO lucky to get a fight like that from such a monster. And of course the video is nothing like real life but a second close... Almost creepy something that big could be right there in front of you and you'd never even know it.

    What a great trip! A King, a Pink, Sockeye, and Silvers. Question if I could: Realistically, was there a chance of landing that big King from the bank? How would you stop a fish that big in that big swift water. I sure would like to try though. Good stuff as always.

  • @alaskasmallcraftadventures

    @alaskasmallcraftadventures

    I would say.... not a chance! Every single time Ive experienced a big King from the bank it ends this exact way! This one held on for longer than normal and put out 4 good jumps before it was able to throw the hook! I think if we would've jumped in the boat and chased it we could've increased our odds of landing it, but even that's a long shot and unrealistic. Just way too much horsepower behind a fish that size to even try to tame it with sockeye gear from the shore. 🎣 it never hurts the eyes though to witness one of those legends in action!
