    Good suggestion about eye protection. The week before we arrived at our outfitter one guy took the lead weights to his eye as the hook came out of the fish. Local doctors said he had to loose his eye. Went to specialist In California and he may be able to keep it.

    There’s an entire clinic here dedicated to fishing incidents. I split Vinny’s cheek open with a set of split shots at the Russian late one evening a couple seasons ago. It’s all fun and games until somebody loses an eye! Put safety at the top and the rest will stay good. 👍🏻

  • @alaskasmallcraftadventures

    @alaskasmallcraftadventures

    Жыл бұрын

    More than likely an entirely different set of fish will have replaced these ones by then. The majority should still be chrome and fresh. I did just catch a pretty red sockeye though in the lower kenai, it looked long and slender like a Russian river red still making its way up. By mid august you should expect many more pink salmon and silver salmon in the mix however.

    That was this day. It was harder to pull in an empty hook than to catch a fish. There were so many fish they were practically jumping in the boat. We were in a patch of fish at least 100 yards long from what I could tell!
