Thanks for pointing out the flaws of the QD pin. I'll be sticking with the stock version thanks to you.

I believe the original idea was to use the nose of a cartridge to start the pin removal. Works perfectly for me!

I just use a tip of a bullet to push my pin. Good info thanks.

Thanks! Your info helped. I use a bullet to push the factory pin out enough to grab.

Funny enough, I typed it out and as sure as rain falls there's video. And as so, you convinced me to keep the factory pin and take this 1/4 inch hitch pin still unopened back to Lowes later for a refund. And the fact I can't get the pin out from the pistol grip stock anyway no matter how much I wiggle it with plyers too. Oh well,I'm better off no doubt. Great video and Thank You much. P.S. I heard it weakens the stock when shooting and may lead to causing that infamous crack (I did get on my first SU16) on another video...

I used a cover retaining pin from a Roth home heating oil tank. Sits flush on opposite side from ring. Don't know where you buy them, I got mine for free when I drove fuel truck. I'm sure a tank retailer could order them

I have one of these. I just use the point of one of the cartridges. That works fine. I think the QD is a fix in search of a problem.

The guys at TakedownPins.com used to sell a different version of the pin, that was basically flush (it stuck out on one side just enough to allow the ring through). Unfortunately the website seems to be gone now...

I have this rifle and I was able to buy a ring pin that fit perfect from home depot, it doesn't stick out too far at all. Come on people think about the problem for more than a second and you'll find a solution.

Those guns are completely different. This is the CA or “assault weapons ban” state friendly version. The other version acts as a true under folding stock and can still fire. The receiver is completely different on these two. No changing it. Just buy the other version if possible.

That works I guess. Though I got kicked in mouth by a girl, in middle school. So I only got one non chipped canine on the bottom. Though the rifle does have a magwell. As well as a storage spot for mags in the folding buttstock. Which holds one or two 10 or 20 rounders.

They make a type of key ring that is a thin flexible cable rather than a hard ring. Do you think that would work well or is it the pin it self that is the problem?

It's both, but the pin itself is for me the larger issue. It sticks out too much for my comfort. If it was like an AR or HK pin then it would be awesome.
