For the first story, I’ve done shrooms PLENTY of times and first of all you don’t forget anything, shrooms doesn’t affect your memory. You also do not really lose all control of yourself, I’ve taken godly dosages and been completely aware of what I’m saying to whoever is with me. Her boyfriend is being blatantly abusive.

The first time I took shrooms, my friend had to come tell me to stop screaming as I was on her bathroom floor, unaware I was screaming, and then spent the rest of my trip talking nonsense. It definitely can make you lose control, maybe not in this case, but it happens.

Looks like there was an update for story 4 about the pregnant sister. OP is buying her out! The sister found the post and apologized to OP for how she was acting. Story number 2, I’m with the girl who tried on her friends dress. She asked her out right if it was okay, and her friend said yes. for the onlyfans mom, if you guys have never had a family member that's an addict, a lot of that is likely the drugs talking. she may have even been hoping mom would offer her money out of guilt or something. she needs to reach out to whatever programs and groups near her offer support for families of addicts for advice on how to get her help.

Definitely the drugs. I’ve watched so many family members change from addiction growing up. The best people turn into despicable human beings all because they want their next fix. But the mom should NOT blame herself, it’s not her fault. Her daughter was an adult and made decisions that lead her to this point and her mother had no part in that. I agree with Morgan, what mom can do is to try to get her to rehab but tbh that has to be her daughters choice. Best thing to do is distance yourself but be there when it’s necessary and when it isn’t a cost to her own well-being.

Yeah exactly. As someone who has suffered from being a people pleaser I knew exactly what was going on in her head. I wouldn’t have risked trying on and getting the dress in the first place, but OP did ask her out right AND tried to talk it out multiple times after the fact to make up, but the maid of honor just never opened up. She kept saying she was okay in person, but then would text back that she wasn’t okay. It’s hard to communicate with someone who doesn’t know how. It’s okay to struggle with that, but she can’t blame other people for not reading her mind. It takes time to learn to communicate your true feelings (took me a long time, slow process), and I think she needs to go work on that. And for the sake of OP it might be best to just let her go and hope she comes around one day.

You’d clean it all up, replace the toothbrushes etc and then have a gentle word with her like “thank you so much for helping us out when we were sick. Btw we’ve decided to not wash them in the sink anymore as it’s unhygienic and toothbrushes etc could easily get contaminated”. Now she can’t see as well, my grans house is a little dusty, plates not fully cleaned etc if you can’t see you miss bits. They could’ve all put on their big boy pants and used the party as an opportunity to make up.

I’m sorry if grandma signs up to babysit and doesn’t clean like that to me it’s concerning, how would she “not see it” 😭😭😭. I feel if any of the hosts came home and saw a mess from someone who was pet or baby sitting they wouldn’t be too happy about it either. As someone who had many addicts in their lives growing up, what the daughter is doing to her mom is very very VERY common. When you’re in the thick of that addiction, a lot of the time you’ll lash out at the people who tried to help you because you’re ashamed you didn’t listen to them and it comes out as misplaced anger. I know someone who even sober still does that a lot. It’s a way to shift blame off of themselves and not take accountability. It doesn’t make it hurt any less, but hopefully that mom can get her daughter help and work through that in the recovery process. It breaks my heart for both of them, but if that mom hadn’t been supportive of her daughter, the daughter wouldn’t have had a safe place to fall apart like she does now. She could have been taken advantage of when trying to seek help. Thank god for the mother for not turning her back on her kid.

I totally agree. It’s almost as if they are so full of shame that they don’t know how to cope with it, so they take it out on family members. It’s easier to blame everyone else, because taking on all the blame themselves can just lead to more drug use. When my sister was going through this she would throw a lot of hurtful comments towards our family, and at a certain point you just detach and realize that they’re not themselves in that moment. They’re angry with the world, themselves and they feel shame because they don’t recognize themselves anymore. The only thing the mom can do right now is support her daughter, and try to give her a comfortable and safe space to heal and find herself again. The daughter will come to appreciate it one day even if that day isn’t today. ❤️ I really appreciated your comment!

So for the sisters to turn around and attack OP and their household was uncalled for. So I think OP had a perfectly good reason not to want their child around all that drama. Cause there’s no way in hell that they wouldn’t have started a problem at the party. I feel like the MIL switching and being rude to them and insulting them aaannnnnnnd no showing after the entire interaction was over, all bcuz the sisters had to throw in their opinions even though it was none of their business is crazy and I definitely wouldn’t that around my kids. Hubby was disrespected and said, nope. He's gonna get sideyed at his child's birthday party? They can celebrate something small until the apology is delivered and then we can all do our own thing for a big party. We do that in my family (latina)

  • @Barbarahfmendes

On the 6th story (the poop story) I feel like you guys glossed over the fact that those kids are probably getting sick BECAUSE OF MIL'S POOR HYGIENE. I'm also latina and that was a normal issue in my family (I don't know if it is in general). Some people from older generations lack basic hygiene and put kids in danger, since they are still developing antibodies. I've lived that situation and had to learn early how to protect myself from family whilst not letting them notice so no one would get offended. I was served spoiled food, was told that I could eat dirty fruits (once I was told it was ok for me to eat food that fell on the sand at the beach, just blow on it) and was told that I was too precious for washing my hands before meals, and stuff like that. My mom was always around us to protect us, but also teaching us how to avoid it without making a fuss. Another thing is, I don't think Spanish or Portuguese sounds aggressive, so I assume the wife was a bit rude with her mother on the phone, but to be honest, I would be too, since that wasn't the first time and they've already had that conversation. So I was with OP up until he cancelled the party. Ideally, he should have just changed the location to OPs house and had the party there, instead of MIL's house. And if their relatives misbehaved in the party, he should just make them leave. The kid shouldn't miss on their birthday party and gifts because of adult drama. In fact, if you are waiting for a time with no drama to have a party in a latino family , you will never have a party. Lol

I am cuban and have some family like the MIL and SIL… having kids around these types of people is no better for the kids environment (personal experience as a kid growing up with them, you’ll see the way they treat your parents or siblings, being blamed/scrutinized for things they either can’t help or straight up didn’t do which can rly mess up perceptions of yourself or your family.) I would say still have the party but maybe at your house and make your boundaries clear with them. Let them know that it is unappreciated and unacceptable to speak like that to me, my partner or around my children. If they want to have a relationship with my family then they have to respect our boundaries. Being in your life is optional and it is in your hands to decide if your ego is worth losing contact with your family. For my family we do not expect payment to each other to watch grandchildren/cousins/etc. because family should do that for one another but usually offer compensation regardless. For MIL and SIL to throw it back in their faces that their house is messy and calling her fat… that’s your DAUGHTER who is a MOTHER, to a small baby mind you, and especially after they OFFERED to help??? Also what do you expect a house full of sick shitting kiddos to look like… the Taj Mahal? At the end of the day it is their life no one else’s. From someone who is always surprised i don't get anything from my grandma's house and i avoid food cooked by her like the plague, old people neglect a lot of hygiene stuff. Hell even my mom does, i can tell her leaving rice to cool overnight and defrosting chicken on the sink over a full day helps in developing tons of bacteria until i'm blue in the face, she'll still say that that's how she's always done things and none of us ever got sick, so i'm wrong for sure. Also, idk, latin languages are pretty fast and tend to sound angry to other people. We are a concentration of romanian people in my factory and at some point we all hapened to be in the canteen at the same time, the discussion was getting heated, but not in an angry way, just in a concerned advice way and we got told to stop fighting.

I agree, she doesn't own every dress she tried on and liked... Op had the courtesy to ask her friend if she would be upset if she tried the dress which she didn't have to do. If she had a problem and you're that good of friends you shouldn't have a problem saying that would make you feel uncomfortable. She can't get huffy after op did everything she could to be a good friend on her part, and then to have the guts to try and flip it and say op is a bad friend when she did everything the friend expected of her for her wedding, this friend made a scene at the dress shop; which as a 2023 bride who just did all the wedding stuff too, trying on the dresses was a big event for me and it was very special so if someone made it all about them over a dress they didn't even buy and I even asked if they minded I'd be so upset

Story 6: I wouldn't want my family around my children if that's how they were speaking about and to my wife, especially when we weren't the ones who made it into a bigger issue it didn't need to be. The sisters and then MIL made that into drama and a supposedly big issue, not OP and his wife. Also, were the children just not around when the MIL came back to the house parroting all those nasty things about OP's wife? Even if they weren't there, why leave room for it to happen at another time at that point? "But the kids deserve to see their grandma and aunts!" So they can just get away with the nasty things they say and do regarding their parents for "the sake of the children?" Those kids are going to pick up on that tension and unease eventually, and as someone who's gone through this personally, they're going to realize their grandma and aunts weren't the people they thought when they do. I don't want anything to do with the people who treated my parents horribly like that, and I wish my parents didn't feel like they had to for our sakes because it wasn't right. OP canceling the party at MIL's house doesn't mean their son isn't going to get a party at all - they can have one elsewhere and do something else. OP barring them from seeing the kids until their behavior changes might suck, but sometimes that's what you have to do with people like that. If they want to see the kids and be around, they need to stop being so horrible to OP and his wife over something that, again, never had to be as big of an issue as they made it. An apology for what they said would also be nice, but it's doubtful they'd get one judging by who these people seem to be.

If not, their kids are pretty happy to cover some. A lot also simple live with their kids and have everything covered. A lot of grandparents did do it for free simply because they love their grandkids that much, and the money was just unnecessary to them. But it’s similar to working any other you hate but have to do to live. With any job you’re wh0ring out your body through labour, mental energy, intelligence etc and s£x work should be viewed the same imo, your filling a demand after all. I hate that it’s become a way to black list people would’ve survived through desperate situations, from being hired for stable careers later on. Equally tho people going into it who have to, to live, must be damaging af. I think the age should change to 21/25 for starters. The mum’s probably always going to feel guilty about this now. But I think she did her best and is doing her best being there for her daughter after the fallout. No one’s really to blame here besides the goons running the country and letting get this dire.

I feel like they think cause they’re a more traditional family that they deserve the house. Whereas the OP has a life and OP didn’t change the dynamics the sister did. Story 1: I got composite (tooth colored) fillings when I was 15. The doctor saw my previous fillings were silver, discussed my insurance and oral hygiene habits with my mother (she confirmed I always had decent oral hygiene and that her having to have multiple teeth removed in her 40s scared me into near flawless dental care minus flossing), asked her how I would reply if offered composites and she told him “she’s going to say no. She knows more about her insurance than I do.” I had TriCare through my daddy and a single mom. I read my insurance coverages every time I had an off-base medical appointment because I knew I didn’t have great coverage for civilian dentists, so I was very careful not to incur extra charges my mama would have to pay out of pocket. He asked me what I wanted, I replied “silver, please.” He responded “is this your actual answer or are you concerned about money? Your mom told me you read your insurance policy; says you know it better than she does.” I shrugged and said “I’ve had TriCare my whole life and it only covers certain things. I know because my aunt works in medical billing and coding, so I ask her things all the time if I don’t understand. I don’t want mama to waste money on things I don’t need.” Mama said he looked at her for a second and looked…sad? Almost? That a kid had done that much homework because they worried about money instead of being a kid? He tried to give me nitrous, and I said no because it wasn’t covered. He said it was free and I made a face, “mom said nothing is free.” Mom snorted and he said, “okay, it’s a tax write off. Do you know how to do taxes?” “No??? I’m bad at math.” “Just know I’ll still get paid.” I agreed and when he was done, I saw I had composite fillings and freaked out. He said “tax write off, remember? You’re young. You’re in high school. Whether you admit it or not your looks matter to you. I just wanna give you one less thing to worry about.” I’ve been paying it forward for the last 15 years.

For the story with the onlyfans, you're not a bad mom or an asshole, it's the drugs. Addicts tend to blame people for their life going down hill. She could of been a doctor, a lawyer, a nanny, a businesswoman, and she still would have found some way to blame you. As someone who has dealt with addicts my entire life, it's the road they walk on, until hopefully, one day, she gets help and accepts her responsibility in her life. All you can do is continue to love her and help her get help if she'll accept it. I'm so sorry for what she said to you. I've listened to a sibling, who is an addict, curse out and blame our mother for her life. I think therapy would be great to help work through this as well. ❤

The poop story hits close to home. I had a cousin who had her first period in our house when I was about 15 and she was 13. She got it on the sink, the walls, door, doorknob and the floor and didn’t clean it up, my mom talked to her mom about it and her mom said my mom doesn’t understand because she doesn’t have daughters and that she was out of line for teaching her about sanitation and how to handle a period. My aunt kept calling my mom an AH until my cousin had that issue at a friend’s house and was embarrassed so bad she begged her mom to transfer to a new school

not quite as bad as poop on a toothbrush, but when I visit my parents (who are both past retirement age), I always have to rewash any dishes i want to use because my mom's vision isn't great. She saw me do it a couple times and got super offended, even though I was actively addressing the problem and didn't call her out or anything like that. people can get defensive easily over things like how they handle a househould/cleaning, so coming at the op's MIL like that definitely wasn't wise or tactful.

The story of sleeping in the master bedroom may have a cultural element you may not be aware of. It was common in my family to give up our bedrooms for our guest(s) and move to a different room, so that the guest(s) had the nicer room. However, we have a guest space now and that is what our guests use when they come to our house.

the dress one makes me angry cus it just sounds like the friend is expecting the bride to read her mind the entire time. as an autistic person, these people make me so fucking angry cus i take people at their word cus i don’t understand why you’re not just COMMUNICATING. Also cus i genuinely can’t understand it. i think the friend is the asshole tbh. but to be fair it’s cus i’m seeing it from an autistic perspective. you need to say what you mean when you’re friends with an autistic person cus they’re going to take it at face value. COMMUNICATION IS KEY. i always ask people around me to use direct communication with me for this reason. also these are the same people who tell me what i “really mean” from something i say. when i never meant or said that. i mean what i say and say what i mean always. and they put their own projection onto me when i never said that & never inferred that. i don’t infer ANYTHING. i make this known in relationships early on now so it’s better but growing up undx was traumatic cus this happened and the entire time i thought i was broken and i hated my “personality”. nope just autistic

For the OF story- I feel like the daughter was dealing with a drug addiction and anger towards her situation and her mom was the easiest target to lash out on and it’s much more comfortable to place blame than take accountability for negative outcomes in life. I have said/blamed shitty things on my mom when I was in a bad place a few years back but I was really just angry with myself and not ready to confront that (I have since shared that with my mom and apologized and we will always be besties) but I empathize with both and mom is not the asshole.

Only fans doesn’t cause drug addiction. Whether the daughter did OF or not, they could have developed an addiction. Maybe the trauma of doing OF played a part for them but s3x work doesn’t automatically mean trauma & addiction. And they were 18 what could the mom do? Beyond kicking them out which could have caused a whole other set of problems. They also ended up moving out anyways. I’m sure the daughter is just in a bad place and hopefully once she gets herself sorted she will take some accountability & see that it’s not her moms fault. Her mom can’t control her. She’s obviously struggling and needs mental health & addictions support but it’s also up to her to accept that support.

It kinda fascinates me how countries so close together are so different in reality! It was common to have been drinking and smoking weed at 14 y/o in Canada. Not saying that’s a good thing by ANY means, but it’s different!
