I would like to share a short video I made whilst spending a few days kayaking The River Yare in the Norfolk Broads. A mixture of sunshine in the mornings followed by afternoon rain for most of the time.
Stretching just over 52 miles (84 km) this short snippet filmed over 3 days provides a view of some of England's finest countryside, from the farm lands to the windmills. The river provides a navigable link between Norwich and the North Sea, and has been the frequent subject of landscape paintings over the years.
Today there are still 63 mills of all sorts left in the landscape, a visible reminder of the human endeavour to drain the marshes over the last 400 years. Collectively they are the largest concentration of wind powered pumps in the United Kingdom and as a group they are surpassed only by those of the Netherlands.
