Great footage, looks like a cool river to paddle. What section did you do? We’ve only done a small part of it down at Tewkesbury so far (where it joins the Severn)

Thank you, a beautiful part of the country. I started at the Clifton Suspension Bridge, this part is very tidal. Then paddled onto Avoncliff Aqueduct, this was the second aqueduct along the way.

Love the aerial footage i this one, Mark. It makes me want to get a drone, as I sold my Mavic Pro some years back. I have paddled a few sections of the Basingstoke Canal and hopefully will get to paddle across Ash Aqueduct later in the summer. ATB, Dave.

From memory, I think there is a launch point with car parking by Ash train station and head right in the canal over the aqueduct. I really like making and editing the videos with the drones. The DJI Mini 3 and mini 4 Pro's are great, small sub 250g with 4K 60 or 100 FPS, really good quality images. Thanks, Mark

Great video! Are you kayaking and flying a drone at the same time?! Or do you have a helper? Haha
@markbenson58212 ай бұрын
Thank you. At the same time as kayaking, the mini 4 pro has active track and obstacle avoidance, which make it a whole lot easier compared to the old daya.

Hi Mark I really enjoyed that video. I only live about 6 miles from the QE2 Bridge on the Kent side, may I ask where you parked and launched from, as I would not mind a paddle on that section of the Thames myself. I do not understand why kayaking channels get so few subscribers, I was out filming on the River Medway, Kentish Stour, Basingstoke Canal, and Stour in Suffolk throughout spring and summer this year and my viewing figures dropped substantially in comparison to my hiking or camping videos! Anyway, I have subscribed, keep up the good work and happy paddling. ATB, Dave.

Hi David, Thank you, it was quite an experience paddling along that stretch. If you look up Pier Road, Greenhithe on either Google Maps or Google Earth, you'll find a slipway. There is a very small car park at the top of the slipway. I usually arrive at locations at the crack of dawn, and parking is usually available. The tide can be very strong along here, and at times I was giving my best effort to keep moving and stable especially under the bridge. Thank you for the above locations, I am always looking for somewhere new to explore. Mark

@@markbenson5821 Thanks for that, Mark. I own dropstitch kayaks rather than a hardshell these days. Although they are good, they don't handle very well in strong winds or strong tides, so I may give that section of the Thames a miss and stick to calmer waters. All the best for 2024, Dave 👍

Hi what sort of time in the morning did you do this trip?
@markbenson582111 ай бұрын
I normally go kayaking on the weekends as soon as it gets light. That would have been winter time during December, probably around 7am when I started on the water.

Hi great footage! Do you need a permit for kayaking on Arlington Reservoir, any fees etc? Or just turn up and get on with it?
@markbenson5821 Жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you. I just turned up and paid a small fee upon arrival, no permit for here. I think they may also do membership there, as a regular visitor this may provide a saving.

@markbenson5821 Hi thanks for reply. I will look into it. I know at at Ardingly, for example, they now (2023) have a £10.50 launching fee, I believe.
