I purchased an H2SXSE in 2019, she’s been all over Europe two up fully loaded and we’re off to Italy on it this July. Brilliant bit of kit, usual Kawasaki wizardry👌🏽👍🏽

Same here. Purchased mine in early '22 and clocked in already 8k miles and three sets of tires in one season. Two up touring from Southern Germany to the Balkans, no problem, so smooth. My wife loves it. She was really afraid at 90mph on our old BMW RT, now she does 120+ absolutely fearless. Great bike.

Kawasaki have a great engine and gearbox which makes 2 up riding perfect. We all know the struggle of the rear helmet banging in to the back of yours as you change gears with a clunky engine :). Ride Safe.

SKT's I have ridden down to Italy myself a couple of times, mostly around Bergamo, Bolzano and up to Austria and then down to Slovenia and back. I love the Northern parts of Italy, such a beautiful part of the country to ride bikes. The H2SX Is my dream bike so I know you will have an awesome trip with it in July, I am truly jealous :) I will be doing a trip like you to Italy on the H2SX later on when I am able to insure it in Sweden, right now almost no insurance company wants to insure it and the ones that do are doing it for money you would not even believe. But anyways, if you are going to Italy, search up the roads around Bolzano, the typical alproads around those parts will blow your mind :)

This is my dream bike, It may not be beautiful but brutal never looked beautiful. This is the definition of a SPORTStourer for me, not those adventure looking bikes they call sporttourers. The riding position is perfect no need to raise the bars as I see some people do, it is forward lean enough to feel veryy sporty but still comfy enough. The riding position reminds me of the Honda VFRs. This is sadly one of very few sporttourers right now that has this much forward lean. I fell in love with this bike within one minute of test riding it when it came out 2018. When the day finally comes when it can be insured in Sweden for cheaper than the insane prices it insures for right now (over 2000£ a year for me) I will buy it. I am actually considering the all black one that was only made a year or two when this bike released, it is just the bike with cruise control, heated grips and traction control, no other electronics and those bikes can be had for pretty cheap.

It is one hell of a bike that’s for sure. Then whack some bags on it and you can go a lot further than on something like the ZX10r. Kawasaki stepped their game up with these supercharged machines that’s for sure.

@D.S.R. Yeah right ? The supercharger makes so much sense in these street bikes. I heard you mention that the fuel economy could rival the Ninja 1000SX, that would be awesome. I had the Ninja 1000SX before I bought my MT-10, imagine how disappointed I was when I first went through a full tank on the MT-10, man that bike was more thirsty than my grandpa after a dry month. I did a 5000 miles trip from Sweden down and around the alps on my MT-10, the price for gas then was about 1.4£ pet liter so just the gas for that trip I paid around 1100£ on that MT-10

Thankfully here in the UK, although insurance isn’t particularly cheap, it’s a lot cheaper than many other countries. I’m in my late 50’s so insurance isn’t really an issue! I purchased my H2SXSE in 2019 and chose the Performance Tourer option. Akropovic can, lower smoked screen and all the electronics package, green and black bodywork. Yes they’re expensive, but so worth it in my opinion. I’ve always had Busa’s, Blades, Triumph triples etc, but the H2 is something very special, the engine is a masterpiece and with Japanese engineering it’s not going to go wrong… Unlike things like KTM’s, although thrilling and amazing to ride, unfortunately are plagued with electrical woes. Not what you want when your half way through a tour in the middle of knowhere!! I’m off to France/Italy in July, she’ll be fully luggage’d up with the Mrs on the back, first day will be blasting down to Dijon… Piece of cake on the H2, can’t wait. Stay safe and all the best for when you get one of these beast’s…

@@skts2610 Thanks man really looking forward to put miles on that bike. yeah the panniers is a must, but as I am 6'6 tall I need a taller preferably black screen and the akrapovic from the performance pack is too quite for me, Since I am pretty sure Im going to keep the catalytic converter on the bike Im going for something as short and loud as possible since the bike is quite silent with the cat on, I saw a slipon called Coffman's that will be as loud as possible but still not crazy loud for touring. Then I want the bigger airfilter and the ecu flash on it, I saw a video form Brocks performance something like 240 hp on the backwheel :D Yeah even though this H2 has crazy performance with a supercharger it is so much more reliable than a KTM. I would be very worried taking a KTM on a long tour just as you wrote. So far I have only ridden japanese for long tours. I know you will have an awesome trip to Italy in July, I wish you and your other half the very best trip! Also I think I wrote you earlier in another comment, Bolzano in northern Italy, best roads I have ever traveled on a motorcycle, thank me later if you decide to ride around Bolzano ;)

Great video, you analyze in-depth the bike's capabilities. I would like to know, in the video you mentioned the front suspension is manually adjusted, is that through the menu on the screen? Another question, does the base model get launch control? Would you spend the extra cash to get the SX SE?

  • @DSR1YT

I think by manually adjustable I may have been talking about adjusting it with tools by hand. And yes I would go the extra bit and get the SE version, it will come with all the extra goodies you'll want to add onto the standard version anyway :)

Hopefully we've covered this on the other video, but my money would be on a Multi V4, or PP if your cash can stretch that bit further. Tuono is an amazing Sunday weapon, not really in the same league as the others for distance riding. I need comfort in my life now so the H2SX wouldn't cut it for me. Each to their own though.

I think Lamb Chop Rides says that the 1290 GT has that hooligan excitement to it, whereas the Kawi is so smooth, you mostly get the thrill when you hit it hard on the straights with the supercharger. I do mostly mountain twisty riding so I am leaning toward the 1290GT. Cheers!

The 1290 GT and the H2 SX SE were my short list. I have an H2 SX SE I've used for commuting, touring (including Alps, Pyrenees and Picos) and sunny Sunday rides. I don't regret me decision. The 1290GT is a great bike, but it is second best.

The character is in the supercharger, that makes this bike have character, so It is not without character. In Sweden you can get the H2 SX 2018 used for about 10320£ with around 6000 miles on it which is nothing. Also the bike is all black instead of green, heated grips and cruise control is the most important stuff besides the engine so it is a great bike for that money :)

@@DSR1YT Yeah I hope more manufactures will add superchargers to their bikes. It will also help fuel economy since you can add a supercharger to lower cc bikes that are not as thirsty as bigger engines. Imagine a Yamaha R9 sporttourer with supercharger, kinda like the R7 but a little bit less extreme riding triangle. The MT-09 engine with a supercharger would be a riot to ride :D

Are you able to describe how the H2 SX makes you feel on a ride vs. the 1290GT?

  • @DSR1YT

    @DSR1YT

    Жыл бұрын

Hi Forest Moto, Kawasakis engines throughout most of their range is smooth like butter, gear changes just happen and the throttle is really easy to get on with, sadly sometimes i personally feel when some bikes are so smooth, they lack some character. The 1290 GT defiantly has character on its side. You need to learn how to ride it, the engine isn’t the smoothest, it doesn’t like 6th gear unless going 90 mph or faster. If you are in the wrong gear down low it will let you know. But all this adds to the ‘feel’ of the bike. I personally own the 22’ 1290 GT (although it has had some issues). I wouldnt swop it for the H2 SX. Feel free to search my channel for the 1290 GT video. Ride Safe.

I tested the KTM after the H2, amongst others. As far as I’m concerned the KTM and the Multistrada are amazing, until you get on the H2! Silky smooth all through the rev range, calming and relaxing when you want it to be and mind blowingly ballistic when you want a blast. The engine is so addictive, smooth, silky and quiet. You also don’t need a step ladder to get on it!

@@skts2610 yeah the H2SX is great, It is deceptively fast though, I did not see my friends after a while in the mirror and looked down at the speed, I was going 160 km/h on a 70 road and It felt like max 100 km/h :P Also I much rather own a Kawasaki than a KTM or Ducati, those bikes cost much more to service and you will take them on service more often :)
