What’s always so awesome about watching Bruce is how fast he STARTS to move. He’s just standing there one moment and you can feel the tension mounting and then he explodes like a bullet from a gun and the effect is the same every time amazing. Sorry I’m writing so much.

I was about 11 when this show came out, I didn't miss an episode. Bruce Lees fight scenes would always come after the commercials at the 15-minute time in the show, it was a half hour program. No one had ever seen fighting like that before, the only reason I even watched the Green Hornet was to watch Kato's fight scenes. He was amazing. A funny thing that happened after this show aired, at school all the sudden everyone was saying they were related to Briuce Lee. So funny to see a red-haired German kid with freckles telling everyone that Bruce was his uncle, haahaa. Bruce Lee was every kids' hero back then, we were all very upset when the season was canceled.

How’s this for an interesting coincidence. I read that Bruce was one quarter German. His dad was full Chinese, while his mom was half Chinese and half German.

That is interesting and the first time I have ever heard that. As far as I know, Lee's Mother and Father were both Chinese and were performing in the Chinese opera and when they came to do a performance in San Francisco, she was pregnant and gave birth to Bruce in America, then they returned to China. A nurse in the hospital was the one who suggested they name him Bruce because she could not pronounce or spell the female name they had wanted to give him. Where did you read that his Mother was part German?

A bit dated by todays fight scenes, but to an 11-year-old in the mid 1960's, this was the best. No one really seen this kind of fighting and it was awesome to watch Bruce Lee in action. Loved this show more than Batman..

Although it wasn’t planned, Bruce’s appearance on Green hornet was great marketing for his career later on we were already in love with them on the small screen when his movies came out in the 70s he already had a horde of fans. Glad to see him again for an extended period and exclusively. Hollywood could have planned a better marketing tactic themselves, and this was all organic he was true. Truly meant to be a star it’s like it was ordained

I never got to see this until syndicated reruns ran in Chicago during the 90s. I collected all sorts of Martial arts magazines, so I knew that Bruce Lee had been Kato. Seeing each episode was such a treasure. Even moving as slow as he was directed to move for the TV cameras to keep up with him, I still found Kato's fight sequences sharp and mesmerizing. I own the series on DVD now. Looking at this series makes me sad to think of how dynamic the series KUNG FU could have been had it featured Bruce Lee (as was initially intended) instead of David Carridine. RIP Mr. Lee.

I was 15 and enrolled in a local Karate school. I used to try to incorporate some of Kato’s touring kumite (sparing) to the anger of our Sensei (instructor. Also, it was during one of the Green Hornet episodes that I saw for the first time ninchaku and three quarter staff used by Bruce Lee and had no idea what it was. I have a DVD set with all the Green Hornet episodes and still enjoy them.👍👍

I was 9 or 10 when Green Hornet came out and people knew that fight scenes involving Robert Conrad, James Kirk, Burt Reynolds and even Nick Barkley from The Big Valley were the real deal. It wasn't like John Wayne or even Batman where no blocks and getting away with ridiculous punches. The Green Hornet was several times better. An argument would be is that one would have to experience when it came out to understand how good Kato was. I think it was a more exciting Bruce Lee than the later. RIP

Here it is 2024 and I still miss Bruce Lee. It's really ashame that Hollywood executives stole this mans dream of becoming a Chinese action movie star due to being racist as well as canceling the television hit show " The Green Hornet " featuring him as Kato. That impacted every young person in a bad way that looked forward to seeing him and Brett Reed " The Green Hornet " teaming up as the crime fighting Duo. Young adults & kids were very unhappy about the shows cancellation. Later is was found out that the TV network used Bruce Lee's idea and plan to cast David Carradine an Caucasian acter to star as Cain in the TV program entitled " Kung Fu ". Carradine was a good actor portraying a martial arts expert but still no master like Bruce Lee ! The show would have been much greater in building up a huge fan base. Bruce went on to achieve his dream of becoming a movie star showing his skills. He was indeed one of the greatest in history. Our love for you Bruce can & will go on . ❤ 😮 🎉 😊.😊

I’m guessing the creators of the green hornet wanted to make this thing, more contemporary and less campy than Batman. This makes sense to me at least however, it seems like the public at the time didn’t really appreciate it. Almost like audiences weren’t ready for it for what reason I really don’t know I think personally, the show is great. I don’t think it’s low energy at all. I just think that comparatively speaking Bruce. Has such an abundance of energy that he makes anyone around him with less energy, and that includes everyone else, seem like they’re not even moving

America couldn’t honor an Asian superhero and it’s not just because of racism in my opinion. You gotta understand we were heavily involved in the Vietnam war at the time and a decade before we’re involved in the Korean War. Both wars taking place in the far east, the face of the enemy. Look a lot like Bruce. Americans weren’t ready to face up to that type of contradiction. It was too much.

The only thing missing from this Kato compilation is out of sync voice and lip movements, you know…like those Chinese martial art movies.

My Mother told me she dated Van Williams (Green Hornet) in college and I was really disappointed it wasn't Bruce Lee.

Its a shame that he wore black because it’s hard to appreciate the detail of his moves. Any martial arts enthusiast would appreciate to learn from him. Specially in The Green Hornet, the fights occur inside closed spaces so most of his kicks are extremely explosive and short ranged.

This show makes everyone including the cops look like untrained clods, but bruce making believe he can beat everybody up looks good, I guess.
