1 subtle (if unintentional) detail I noticed upon a rewatch of this show is that because Aang's voice actor was a kid going through puberty as the show was airing Aang's voice gradually gets deeper as the episodes went on which added to his character development.

@monkbeats290 as the sister to an older brother, voices don't just drop one day. Usually it's pretty gradual, with lots of cracks and squeaks and ish. If you compare aangs voice from the first episode to the last, you can definitely tell a difference. It's just hard to tell when you're watching every episode in order because it's so gradual. It's not that his voice dropped, just that it gradually got lower as happens to most boys that age lol

When Zuko is seemingly falling to his death Azula glares at him with glee in a similar expression she displayed when Zuko was scarred by his father. But, when Azula is seemingly falling to her death Zuko is sad and remorseful. He's on the right team. Also, Zuko now realizes that Katara holds back, and she could've kill him anytime she wanted.

One of the most noticeable differences in Zuko's firebending is that he no longer grunts when firebending after learning from the dragons. He no longer has to be angry to create giant fireballs. That's why he looks a lot more calm and collected.

There’s a very interesting theory that the puppet master Hama is responsible for Kia’s death. Since they knew Hama could bloodbend they stopped taking prisoners and resorted to killing the water benders instead so they wouldn’t be blood bent. That’s why he said they are no longer taking prisoners.

Seeing Katara Attacking and crying at the same time is really intense and sad. That’s why this is my favorite episode from the entire series. She’s broken inside, she carries with that fault all her life. She’s right to be mad of Zuko because he’s from the fire nation as the murder of her mom was, so, who wouldn’t do the same thing as Katara did? It is a trauma that she had to face one day. Thank you for reacting to this amazing series! ❤

Dee's enthusiasm for blood bending is so fun (terrifying?)! 😬 Great reaction to a great episode. It's the last regular episode of the show, and they really bring to a head core themes & character arcs here to show the full weight & trauma of this war, in such a personal way. It's the way every character in this show emotes so humanly that makes it hit so deeply and so right.

I’ve heard this theory that Hama was indirectly the cause of Sokka & Katara’s mother getting killed. Prior to Hama inventing bloodbending the Fire Nation was only taking Southern Water Tribe benders as prisoners not killing them but after Hama discovered bloodbending and used it to escape from Fire Nation captivity, the Fire Nation most likely came to see the waterbenders of the Southern Water Tribe as huge threats which is when they started to change their approach from imprisoning them to outright exterminating them. Edit: Reposting this comment cause I meant to edit to fix a typo but I ended up deleting it. 😅

The Fire benders have nobody to blame but themselves for starting this war and making Hama the way that she was. When the war is over the fire benders need to accept their wrongdoings and acknowledge all of the suffering that they have caused to everyone else.

Maybe on hot take here, and not to diminish Avatar's gang level of restraint, But I think it may be actually harder the older you get to let go of violence en vengance, WHen you are set in your ways for so long, when you have a life time of building, I think vengeance as a much more appeal when circumstances take things away from you.

Fun facts: •The leis you see on Sokka's neck was joke on the writers saying Sokka got laid last night •The actress who voices Azula also voices Katara's mother • Toph most likely "saw" everything that Sokka and Suki are doing together in that tent, thanks to her seismic sense Katara and Aang butting heads cause of the revenge path is really good. Aangs dialogue in general in this episode is really good. You can see just how mature he is from the way he talks. The people that massacred his race are gone by now but even if they were alive, Aang would not choose revenge not only because it's against his Ideology but also because Revenge would not bring his race back. To Aang using the word "Justice" is an excuse to kill. And Sokka also agrees with Aang cause he's the logical kind of guy. Even tho he just found that his mother's killer was alive, he didn't jump at the chance because he knows that it happened because of the war. And his mom was a victim of war. So, in his eyes, going after the guy who killed his mother isn't the right play, Ending the war is. After all, the killer was a soldier and was just following orders. Zuko is with Katara cause his Ideology of Honor. He thinks if Katara kills this man she'd be at peace. The little bit of Old Zuko peaking through is really cool. Toph didn't really say anything but IF she were asked she'd probably say to Katara to do what she wants. Now, Zuko witnessing both the bloodbending and the rain bending scene while wondering how he's still alive is a pretty funny headcanon of mine. Him glaring at Yon Ra at the end who wa offering his mother up to die in his place. Both Katara and Zuko's moms volunteered to die/be banished in order to save their children. So what do I love the Most about this ep is she doesn't forgive the guy. The show teaching the kids revenge is wrong is good but not forgiving those who don't deserve forgiveness is an even better and a really important lesson as well. So Katara accepts the fact that her mother is gone and REFUSES to be a part of the cycle of Revnge. This episode is a Masterpiece. Great reaction. Hope u have a great day 💗 😊.

Hey Meesh and Dee "Happy Thursday". I hope you two day are going well. This was a great episode. The moment that majority the fans have been waiting for is Katara and Zuko. And we finally got it. When I first saw Avatar and knowing Katara and Sokka past of losing their mother. I would always wonder when that moment would come when they find and confront their mother killer. But I didn't think that Zuko would be the one that would help her. And I feel the way the writers did it was brilliant. Zuko betrayed everyone trust mostly Katara who was the first to trust him and what was the best way for her to forgive him is to have him help her find her mother killer and give her that closure. And the hug that she gave Zuko was amazing. Zuko going through a journey with Aang, Sokka and now Katara in these four episodes has been the best. But anyway I hope you two have a wonderful day. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing.

Remember what I wrote in The Puppetmaster how my fan theory/headcanon was that The Fire Nation had been capturing Waterbenders to find the Avatar & speed up the Avatar Cycle? Well, my guess is the reason why Katara's mom was killed rather than captured was the soldier probably thought "If she's the Avatar, her death will bring the Earthbending Avatar, & the Fire Nation is closer to having an Avatar who will help us conquer the Earth Kingdom."

When people are told they NEED to forgive in order to heal, it can halt the healing process and they might feel as if there's something wrong with them if they can't.

I think in this episode Zuko realized that Katara is indeed able to kill him, like she threatened to do in a previous episode. We can assume that he has never witnessed blood-bending before, nor was he even aware that such a thing is possible. I guess I've never thought about it, but this episode kinda reminded me that water-bending is actually a really versatile form of bending. You can control water in its liquid form but you can harden it as well, which you can't really do with the other bending styles.

I really think this was an equal exchange for Katara and Zuko. The episode was about what Katara learned and moved through, but this is also where Zuko realizes there's some really terrifying power out there that isn't firebending. He realized in those moments with Katara that her ethics are the guard against the evil that kind of power could enable.

People always talk about Zutara, but I think the alt ship that makes more sense is Zuki. For a while, the comics were hinting at Zuko and Suki being together. She and the Kyoshi warriors become his personal guard and they spend a lot of time together. Meanwhile, Suki and Sokka met and trained together for one day, became a couple on their very next meeting, then Suki had a lot of moments where she just seemed annoyed at Sokka's antics.

Let's take a second to realise the fact that Katara saw her mother's BURNED CORPSE. When she says earlier in the series 'my mother passed this necklace down to me' what she really means is that she took the necklace off her corpse. No wonder she was never able to process that trauma.

I really liked that Zuko let Katara come to her own decision on whether or not to kill her mother's murderer, unlike Aang who wouldn't stop lecturing her from atop his 50 foot high horse.
