One point of clarification: Aang did not use the Ocean Spirit to defeat the Fire Nation fleet. The Ocean Spirit used Aang to defeat the Fire Nation fleet. : )

Aang wasn't in charge when the Ocean Spirit was using his body. Clearly, the Ocean Spirit has no problem killing Fire Nation soldiers because it killed quite a few during it's rampage. It's also how they got away with a 12 yo killing scores or enemies. I can't blame it as it just saw it's eternal partner killed two minutes ago. They're lucky that Yue sacrificed herself to bring back the Moon Spirit. I think the Ocean Spirit would've wiped them all out.

A lot of people see this as Aang using his avatar state to "kill" but in this case aang is a puppet to the ocean spirit...aang has no control here and the one killing without a thought is the ocean spirit as revenge for the moon spirit.

Yeah the writers coould have probably done a better job to show this wasn't some "omg Aang is awesome" moment, but rather a "omg the moon spirit is gone and the ocean spirit is gonna go permanently berserk via the Avatar's body" moment.

Dee, tears, totally with you. This show has amazing emotional beats.

Zhao didnt accept zukos help but not because he was too proud. It was because he couldnt accept and live with his own failure. Remember he considered that destroying the moon was his destiny and his fate reflects that he couldnt do exactly what he told zuko to do: Accept his own failures and live with them. He simply rather die

Personaly I wished they picked the Orginal voice actor. I know Netflix is going for a "mostly" all Asian/Native cast & crew but Koh is not based on an Asian human. He's a spirit. Anyone can voice it.

Loved the reaction guys! It’s such a great show with an incredible world. An interesting fact. The black Koi fish is the Ocean spirit, they said before that the moon spirit pulls and the ocean spirit pushes water. That was why, when the ocean spirit possessed Aang it could only push the water to attack the firebenders.

Love your reaction this show does make everyone emotional at times. What happened with Aang and the Ocean spirit is that it was upset that its partner (the moonspirit) had died so it kinda Merged with Aang to get revenge on the firenation which is why after they saw the moon was back they stopped attacking and it just put Aang back safely.

Great reaction as always! Can't wait for book two.

Really enjoyed watching these with you, you both have a chill vibe. Really looking forward to the netflix show now, after this recap. I love all the other seasons so much, I forget how good S1 is.

Book 1 finaleeeee. Great reaction 😊😊. We see there is a time jump probably 2 or 3 weeks, katara unlike Aang pretty much masters Waterbending. There is this musical instrument analogy i read about why katara masters Waterbending before Aang. Lets say each bending is an instrument. If airbending is a piano and Waterbending is a guiter, all aang was use the knowledge he had about piano and convert it into guitar, thats why he was initially better than katara. And its after both get a proper instructor that true learning can begin. Aang and zuko are both too nice man. Theyr both trying to help tge person who tries to kidnap / kill them. Ocean spirit and Moon spirit are the first Waterbenders. Their names are Tui and La which means push and pull. Water tribe flag/symbol is a circle with half moon and ocean. Good job remembering the dragon scene with iroh but id like to clarify that it wasnt just because hes spiritual but also because he has literally gone on a journey to the spirit world. You can actually see yues eyes are the only colored eyes during the b&w. The ocean spirit is actually in rage when the moon spirit dies and Aang acts as a Vessel for the ocean spirit. So Aang was pretty much unconscious while the Water Kaiju massacres the fire navy fleet. And u can see that all the Waterbending used by the Kaiju is actually just push the waves because the moon spirit is dead there is no pull. I love that this show subverts ur expectations with Yue. U think shes gonna be your typical damsel in distress Princess. But she turns out to be a strong girl who sacrifices herself for the sake of the world at such a young age. And she is a side character who is introduced 2 eps ago. This show is too GOATED. U talked about Avatar kuruk and how the Live action could add on him. And i think it can happen. He is been explored a bit in the Novel. So they could adapt his backstory. Id love that. Dee tearing up twice in this vid makes genuinely worried for Book 2. A suggestion: Id love to just see u guys talk it out in like a podcast form about Book 1 in a more detailed fashion. Maybe rank the characters, discuss favorite episodes and maybe try to make some predictions for Book 2 ( but thats mainly for Dee cause she hasnt seen Bk2 yet). Thats a lot of words i typed lol. Lots of fans joke that Sokka is the backbender. Aang isn't technically an airbending master. Those blue arrow tattoes are how you tell the masters. He got the rank of master very young. When the ocean spirit merged with Aang, notice that he only pushed, no pulling. No pulling because the moon spirit was dead at the time.

3rd time watching and I still cry 😂

Very minor gripe but, comparing the voice of live action Koh and animated Koh, the animated voice is just so much more menacing and creepy. I really wish they managed to have whomever voiced the animated version reprise their role for the live action, because no offence to the person who voiced the live action Koh I just didn't think they worked as well.

Based on casting choices, I have a feeling that the live action will be adapting some small bits from season 2 as well, primarily flashbacks. From a logistical standpoint, if they want actors to look younger in the flashbacks, they need to be younger. Most of the cast is at the age where you can tell if there has been a year or so between filming. Pre-filming for later seasons would be ideal, but unlikely. Putting flashbacks in season one is the next best thing for continuity.

it's something that a lot of people are somewhat confused about: The Avatar is the bridge between spiritworld and "real" world. He acted as an avatar for Roku's spirit at the winter solstice so Roku was able to act in the real world through him which is why Roku was able to do this monstrous display of firebending even though Aang hasn't learned any firebending yet. In this last episode, in pretty much the same way, the angered (by the murder of it's partner) Ocean Spirit acted through Aang and took revenge on the invading Firenation forces. Well and.... I guess it's never a good idea for a fleet of ships to fight against the personified ocean itself, especially a really really angry one!

I CANNOT F**ING WAIT to see George Takei as Koh the Face Stealer in the live action. I dunno if yall saw/heard him as Ricardio in Adventure Time but it was TERRIFYING! Let's Go!!!
