Kastking Rover 60 vs Ming Yang CL60 Review

Спорт

I discuss the similarities and differences of the Kastking Rover Round 60 and the Ming Yang CL60 baitcasting reels. I take each one apart to show the internal parts and construction of both fishing reels.

Just purchased an R60 today. It should arrive tomorrow. Come down to KY or TN for some winter fishing! It may get cold but the water doesn't freeze up.

That's awesome I think you'll like it they're good reels especially for the money. And man I wish I could swing that trip but it's just not in the finances haha. I'll be going to the potomac river in Maryland in November and we can get into some blues down there. Thanks for watching!

Well my Catmaxx is on the fritz so I might end up getting the mc600 to replace it. Definitely looks like a better reel than the cl60 but it's double the price.

I took my abu Garcia apart and didn’t feel the same after taking it apart and it’s super rough now, regretted taking it apart. Same thing happened to my avet reel. My Ming yang still works after 7 years

Sorry to hear that man but at least I'm not the ony one who has that happen to their reels. So far I'm alright with my Abus but the Kastkings and the Ming Yang both got loud after I took them apart. My Ming Yang is still going strong too just caught a 53 lber the other week on it. Not bad for their price at all.

That's good to hear! I'm starting to wonder if I screwed mine up somehow when I took it apart. The drag just won't hold anymore no matter how many times I try to fix it. But it was fine before my initial tear down. I hope yours continues to work!

Thank you for the review. With that noise you are refering to would maybe regular servicing /cleaning and a thin smear of quality reel grease on all the gears prevent that.Looks pretty dry in there ,using it for long periods without maintanence/ lubing would fast track wear on even the more expensive brands. There is a guy on you tube that strips cleans and oils his aBU 7000s every 2 months when he is fishing them reguarly.Cheers .

Yeah I think it would help to clean them more often- they usually only get one cleaning a year and they get used at least once a week. Maintaining gear is important and I definitely neglect mine. Thanks for watching and the advice!

@@TheFlattyDaddies Hi again,, that grinding noise, I have found a way to quieten it, when you service it get a small paint brush and put a good coating of shimano ace 2 reel grease on the main gear making sure it gets I between the teeth. Has worked for me anyhow for what it's worth. Cheers and gday from Australia!

I bought three rovers and went night fishing. Forgot to click the baitclicker off when i was retrieving some hogs in . Little later figured out that two of the three reels were missing the baitclicker button .Contacted customer service and got the parts but just a warning, cut the baitclicker back off when retrieving

Yeah probably very little for both. I ended up getting 2 Piscifun Chaos reels and I'll never go back to either the Rover or Ming Yang. They are right and feel like a solid reel. I've put them through some serious punishment this year and so far I'm incredibly impressed. Thanks for watching!

Excellent review, I just got subbed to your channel! I just ordered a Rover 70L and I'd like to know what kind of rod can I use with it. I'll be using it for trolling here in Chile. Any recommendation? Thanks!

fabian gomez hey man I’m sorry somehow I missed this comment. First of all thanks for the kind words! And second, I wish I could help with the rod selection but don’t do much trolling. How are you liking the rover 70? I have one and personally think it’s a beast. It’s a little loud sometimes but with some maintenance and cleaning it’s a solid real. I hope it’s working out for you!

Definitely the Rover. The Ming Yang's drag doesn't work anymore. It seems real tight but as soon as it slips some line it gets super loose and won't get tight again. I think it's the material used for the drag washers. I really like the Rovers though and they are holding up very well.

That's pretty impressive. I've been using the Ming Yang a lot more this year and it's doing real well. I got to test it on a 31lb flatty and it had no problem with it so I'd believe it has somewhere around 18lbs. Thanks!

It's the cheap Chinese bearings is why it does that. Measure them get some decent bearings and that noise will go away the metal in the chinese bearings are soft so they make the parts have a little more play. I enjoyed this vid thank you for doing this.

Hey thanks for the feedback! I'll look into that because I love the Rovers but that noise does bother me. And here's an update on the Ming Yang: don't get that model. The drag is very weak and the company never responded to my questions about it. It seems well built but when I hooked into a decent channel the drag could not keep up.
