Ойын-сауық

Its a battle between the KastKing Rover 50 and the Piscifun Chaos 50 conventional baitcasting reel. If you've been looking at these two reels and thinking of which one to buy then watch this video.
I break down each reel and take them out fishing in the inlet to see how they compare to one another.

Gotta love it when "reviews" really are! Most are simply unboxing and commentary bu this was very informative. Size and price point comparison is as close to perfect as "close to perfect" gets. Beyond the review, this is (by Catfish Dave's definition) a fishing video as fishing was filmed and good fish were caught. Not in the market for a reel of this size but I do have an interest in the KastKing 90. Beats anything on TV and thanks!

Thanks for the comment 👍. If I do a review on a reel I feel like it’s a must to show it being used and catching fish to see how it performs; not just saying it’s a great reel but showing the person interested in the product that it does perform. I’m still using both reels and both are still going strong.

I'd go with Kast King in this duel just because of the gears. Our machines at work however have that nylon type of gears and some are 20 years old with no issues. When needing a big conventional reel I stick with my Daiwa millionaire. Never a problem. Tight lines!

I went on Amazon and the price of the Piscifun was about four dollars more. I think I would have to go with the Kastking just because of the brass gears as opposed to the plastic on the Chaos.

Great review! I was always a little leery on the Piscifun products but they seem to be making some headway amongst new fisherman that can’t afford to spend hundreds on gear. I decided to go with the KastKing Rover 40. They offered a 15% coupon on Amazon for the Rover 40 black which brought the price down to $38. Couldn’t pass on that deal. Btw, What is the gray sliding ruler you used on you kayak? I’ve searched online and can’t find it anywhere.

@2:44 The kastking also has one, just much more halfassed. You can see it on the end of the spool @1:17, its those little rubber guards on the two protruding metal strips. At the end of the day though, they are both cheap Chineseium reels, so don't expect much from them.

Those gears are not the actual reels gears per say. Thary are just the level wind cogs. ABU uses those nylon cogs as well, over time they remain smoother whereas the brass ones on the Rover and also the Ming Yangs have become a little noisy. Does not effect the reel at all but you will find those nylon cogs in the Piscifun will be just fine and remain quiet and smooth. Cheers.

It would not engage after casting. I finally got it to engage but it was raining that day very hard as I remember because I was in the kayak. I kept turning the handle and it just would not engage. Piscifun has released a newer model of the chaos but I have not used that one.

The Piscifun Chaos XS 50 is one of the best reels I have ever had the pleasure to own. It is the smoothest reel I have ever seen. I have some Abu Garcia Ambassadeurs but this reel beats them hands down. The plastic gear for the level wind is a safty feature that is for incase you get your finger caught inbetween the reel body and the level wind. It is desighned to strip the gear and not crush your finger. Which is more important? Your finger or the reel? The kastking is a much more dangerous reel. I have both but the Piscifun Chos XS 50 out performs the Kastking.

The KK does in fact have a friction braking system, you were pointing right at it as you were telling us there was none. It can take a max of two blocks. Has one on it in the video. Thanks for letting me know about the bait alarm. These 2 reels were my first conventional baitcasting reels. I was just comparing the two. I know a lot of people that stand behind the KastKing Rover Reels and I had heard nothing but good reviews about them. Yes you could spend more money on a higher end reel but if you can spend less and still get the job done then why? The KastKing Rover I’ve been using for a little over 2 years now and I haven’t had any problems from it at all. I’m not deep sea fishing with these reels, I’m strictly inshore fishing. I thank you very much for pointing out that I was wrong with the way I was setting the bait alarm. I didn’t have anyone instructing me on how to use a conventional reel properly but I know now. I'm still using my Quantum Iron IR3L,IR3WL,Shimano Citica 201,Quantum 1311MG,Diawa Triforce-X 151i,Shimano Syncopate 4000,and I forget what else I have atm since I bought them all back around the1990 time frame.I do think the IR3's were made around '96.They all have fished Striper,Carp,Bass,Cats, etc and all are like timex's.For the day the Citica was on the salty side, something like $120 back then. That was most expensive one and is still my favorite baitcaster even though I have bought a few newer ones. When I pulled the 1st KK out of the box (rover 40) I could feel the cheapness of it.Wasn't long till it proved me right. Then figured I just give the others a try (BC and Spinners),if it was good I'd keep it,if not I could always send it back to Amazon...and did. They were all cheap, even the spinner compared to the $29 Shimano Syncopate 4000 (btw, all 3,the 1000,2500,4000 are $29ea.).It was more than $29 back when I bought it but hey,it's still ripping in fish with not one hiccup the entire time.I actually just bought 2 more of them (1000 size) to put on my UL's for Cat bait. For $60 I bought a Daiwa Emcast 4500 BR for my new Cat reel as it has the bait alarm. It's 10x the reel those offbrand ones want to be. No problem on the use of the bait alarm,I just couldn't let someone not get the proper use of it,even though it's a junk reel.I even disliked the loudness of the KK's BA and it was a lil to stiff for my liking.I was going to order new ceramic bearings for it and see what I could do about the stiffness of the BA but I figured why not just spend a lil more for a good reel instead of slapping band aid on a turd.So I bought 2 Shimano Cardiff 401A for my cat rods.

Kiddo I'l stil running an IR430 that cost $100 over your Iron3. Unfortunate that Zebco/Quantum pissed the entire line down a drainhole. You're so smart, find some replacement parts for your round 30 year old bass reel! You won't fid a dirty IRON on ebay under the price you paid new. Bag, per the D.

Both are junk and not even worth $10 or to use as lender reels. Hell even an old Quantum Iron IR3WL is a lot better than either of them.Bought mine in 1996 and it's still outperforming those no-name POS. The ones wasting $$ and buying these reels are ones who hasn't done much fishing.... Stick to the better name brands, yeah they're more $$ but in the long run they'll outlast and out fish these no-name POS reels so just save up a little more and buy a better reel.

You dont know what your talking about, the Rover is a great reel. Its even better made than my Abu 5000D, I agree that the picifun is crap though with its plastic gears.

@@denofearthundertheeverlast5138 No I guess my 40 couple years fishing has left me clueless on your shit off brand reels,LMFAO!!!! The Rovers and all those other off brands are junk....Including Okuma. I had a few KastlikeKraps and sent them all back within 2 weeks.Used them every day and the longer it went the worse they got. Also got a few Okuma that are collecting dust because they're junk too.One lasted a summer catching gills, sunnies, crappie, the other lasted 4 days but barely catching cats, striper, etc. Junk, don't be a cheap bitch, save a little longer for a decent model from a brand name...it will save you in the long run. Not a fan of Abu here either, have a couple collecting dust too because they couldn't handle day in and day out fishing. Now,my Shimano's and Daiwa's and a few Quantum Irons have never left me down, and they're still reeling in fish..both salt and freshwater.. Never used a Penn over all those years but have one now that I'm going to give a workout to. Let's see where your junk reels are in another 5-10yrs...

@@denofearthundertheeverlast5138 Mate the ABU has the same plastic level wind cog as that Piscifun. I love my ABUS as well but had to point that out. Its only a level wind cog and those nylon ones last forever and remain quieter over time than the brass one in the Rover. Before you knock think about what you are typing and know what you are talking about.
