My grandfather had one out in the country, last summer when we came to visit he taught me how to shoot in that very rifle. I loved that weapon, it hasn’t been greased in a while so the bolt got stuck on occasion but it was beautiful to fire. Now I can say I learned how to shoot on an iconic rifle

Solid, reliable, accurate. I always prefered bolt-action rifles, or semi-automatic ones, over automatic weapons. And Mauser "family" is probably my favourite.

@@bertmathricks2024 technically yes, but in practice you can feel the difference between them. Like when shooting with M1 Garand and Thompson SMG, or SVT-40 and PPSh-41. They served different purpose in history. Now automatic rifles are everywhere, because technology makes it possible to make them much more precise when it comes to shooting, but still, sniper rifles for example are mostly bolt-action rifles, or semi-automatic ones. Their construction still provides much more accuracy and the power of a single bullet shoot from one of these is usually much bigger than from automatic weapons. I'm not specialist in modern weaponry though, so I may be mistaken.

The Hindu Nationalist I know video games did help introduce this rifle to a lot of the younger generations. I simply do not like how this rifle got its fame from these audiences through a cancerous video game. Like compare the responses you get from people when you ask them about the kar98k. A normal response would probably be ‘Oh the German WW2 rifle?’ Nowadays they would respond with ‘Oh the rifle from PUBG?’ It just sounds dumb and stupid to me. I know, a pretty ridiculous argument but still, I have proven my point and it’s simply a matter of my own opinion.

The other one (my dad's father) became POW in Lorient, France after the allied liberation of the port city. He returned from the war.

@@bertmathricks2024 Many spoterized versions are still in use as hunting rifles here in Germany. The 8 mm Mauser round still does some good work reducing the numbers of wild boar which have no natural enemy.

I love a bolt action rifle's mechanical system of chambering a new round. Sounds like a well oiled machine working at its peak performance. And a great camera work you have done.👍 Also that slow motion shot at 1:50 is superb !

This is actually my favorite gun. It sounds relaxing when you reload it, I like the design overall. The gun for me is a 10/10

COD 1.1 Multiplayer first introduced me to this beauty of a gun. Fast forward 15 years later, games like Enlisted still give this gun the respect it deserves. I actually have a Turkish Mauser but it can't compare to the Kar98k

I love the design of this gun, especially the reloading part is quite interesting.

Slow mo firing Kark98k is the most beautiful thing I seen in my 22 years of life.

agreed, your POV is good. something i've always wondered, try mounting a go pro to the left hand side of your ear protectors. record some test footage and look back on it to see if its any good.

The second guy is shooting properly. He is very purposeful, with his body leaning forward. Holding the gun on the shoulder all the time.That's the way. Excellent Videos. Love it.

If I fought in WWII I would want an M1 Carbine. Kar98 is cool but it doesnt have that many rounds, takes too long to reload and is heavy

How does a pubg fan watching this video and commenting that he know this gun from PUBG makes him a amateur? This isn't the type of stuff everyday people know about and it isn't being taught at schools either in any country. Infact you weapon nerds should be happy that pubg player are learning about these guns atleast due to whatever reason and think about kids playing fortnite, overwatch, or apex. Who know nothing else but pump gun, drum gun.

Love the kar98 riffle, I have a lee Enfield s.m.l.e the action is probably the slickest of its time with the 2 piece rotating bolt..always wanted a Mauser and a Mosin nagant m44
